  1. QUOTE (The Ultimate Champion @ Apr 9, 2013 -> 04:16 PM) If salary is no issue I would take Verlander + Cabrera over that duo, and the Tigers have definitely been beatable since those two hooked up. They still will be this year since we're taking this division. f*** yeah. Unfortunately, salary will be an issue, especially with Strasburg. Given that Boras is his agent, I don't think there is a chance in hell he signs a long-term deal with the Nationals prior to testing free agency. God only knows what he'd get on the market as a 28 year old, especially if the Yankees have some money to play with by then. The point is that even if the Nationals find a way to sign him long-term, it's going to be at a price so ridiculous it will cause more harm than good. Therefore, the Nationals should get as much out of him while they can, which makes their decision to shut him down last year all the more stupid IMO.
  2. QUOTE (Marty34 @ Apr 9, 2013 -> 03:53 PM) Wow, the Tribune did a great job of brainwashing Sox fans over the years to make them think they're 2nd class fans. What does this even mean?
  3. So in other words, the reliever let some or all of the inherited runners score.
  4. QUOTE (CryptviLL @ Apr 9, 2013 -> 08:47 AM) Nationals are my favorite team. They are building one of the best dynasties ever seen. I think you're jumping the gun quite a bit.
  5. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Apr 9, 2013 -> 06:52 AM) Comparing teams 1-5 Cincinnati and Detroit are pretty even St Louis is better than the Sox Pittsburgh and Kansas City are pretty even Cleveland is much better than the Cubs Minnesota is better than the Astros So overall the divisions are fairly comparable. I don't think strength of schedule will be the reason the Twins win more games than Houston. Why are you comparing the AL Central to the NL Central?
  6. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Apr 8, 2013 -> 04:42 PM) We are talking about literally the most extreme of sample sizes here, but Alexei currently leads the MLB in SS UZR. Like I said, it means literally nothing, but it's ironic to consider nonetheless. Which is hilarious because Berstein normally quotes advanced metrics as gospel. I get the sample size is too small to truly take anything from it, but he's looked really good in the field so far this year. Hell, he had one play the other day where he had to run halfway across the infield and still almost got the guy out. I get that he makes some errors, but his range is definitely elite.
  7. Bernstein just said that Alexei was only "OK" defensively. Every time he talks about the Sox, the more I'm convinced he doesn't actually watch them play and just looks at their boxscores.
  8. There's no point in worrying about attendance right now. You simply don't get a ton of walk-ups in April. Once it gets warm out and if the team is still playing well, then we can see if the price changes made a difference.
  9. QUOTE (Marty34 @ Apr 8, 2013 -> 09:29 AM) The team has one playoff win since 2006. They haven't been putting out a good product of late and they've made a decent buck doing so. Then why do you keep your season tickets? If the product has been so bad the last six years, I'm sure there are a lot better things you could do with your money.

  11. QUOTE (Paint it Black @ Apr 7, 2013 -> 10:57 AM) A world draft is a horrible idea and just another way MLB is screwing up internationally. The new CBA is awful. Why?
  12. QUOTE (flavum @ Apr 7, 2013 -> 10:19 AM) http://baseballpress.com/lineup.php Happy with the lineup today. Give Keppinger a day off and see if Gillaspie can provide a spark for a second day in a row.
  13. QUOTE (ScottyDo @ Apr 6, 2013 -> 11:55 AM) FWIW, DJ said on last night's radio broadcast that, this spring, De Aza requested a shift to left field when Wise came in to sub. Sounds like De Aza still just isn't comfortable in center, which is not a good sign. Yeah, not a good sign at all. He doesn't project well at a corner, so he should just suck it up and do the best he can. On an unrelated note, I hate Keppinger batting 5th. Makes no sense at all. Why is Paulie out of the lineup in the first place?
  14. QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ Apr 6, 2013 -> 07:34 AM) The handling of the bullpen is bad already. Jones in the opener and why no reed last night? Because we were running out of arms. You only had Reed, Thornton, & Santiago left. And let's be honest, Santiago pitched 3 innings the day before and may be needed today if Axelrod pisses himself. That leaves you with two relievers for an open-ended game, one who is your closer. You had to get multiple out of Jones at that poin in the game plus he looked absolutely nasty in the 9th. I 100% support Robin's decision. Also, we had 12.1 innings of scoreless relief coming into the 10th inning. That's f***ing amazing and an early positive to take away, since most of these giys are doing it with plus stuff and not skoke and mirros. However, our bullpen was bound to give up some runs and last night was when it finally happened. I know it's a tough way to lose, but it's hard to get mad at Jones. He did what was asked of him in the 9th and ideally wouldn't have been there in the 10th if we had more guys a available.
  15. QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Apr 5, 2013 -> 10:56 PM) Can't really blame him . Had to take the 1st pitch with the pitcher wild . 2nd pitch was aced outside corner. Agree. Got give the pitcher some credit for that at-bat.
  16. QUOTE (Baron @ Apr 5, 2013 -> 10:55 PM) Yeah with our number 5. This game would have been nice. The only good news is that the winds are supposed to be crazy tomorrow, so hopefully that adds a bit of a wildcard into the equation.
  17. I give them credit for battling back in the 10th. Unfortunately, the 2nd run Nate gave up was a killer.
  18. QUOTE (Baron @ Apr 5, 2013 -> 10:38 PM) But he's been worse than Morel with the bat which is a problem No doubt about it, but still just 4 games. Great AB Rios.
  19. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Apr 5, 2013 -> 10:37 PM) He's been amazing so far. He's been solid defensively at least.
  20. Kepp needs to get on base right now. No more f***ing around.
  21. Well now we're f***ed. Would have been nice to steal a win tonight with Felix on the mound tomorrow.
  22. Let's get out of this without any more damage and then it's up to the heart of the lineup to do something.
  23. At least he hit the ball hard, tough to be upset about that.
  24. Well done Rios. Come on Dunn, let's do something here.
  25. Wow, looks like they finally moved Petricka to the bullpen.
