Trade Deadline Predictions Thread
Updated predictions based on GOAT insider Portillo’s latest rumors. Please note that all these trades work on BBTV and I even added a ~20% premium to reflect the trade deadline effect on prices, so I think we can all agree these are 100% fair and will certainly be accepted by opposing GMs. LHP Garrett Crochet, 3B Bryan Ramos, & RHP Matthew Thompson to CIN for RHP Tyler Mahle 3B/DH Jake Burger, IF Yogurt Sánchez, & LHP Brooks Gosswein for 2B Joey Wendle & LHP Tanner Scott RHP Tyler Johnson to NYY for RF Joey Gallo RHP Andrew Dalquist to CHC for RHP Mychal Givens We’d be giving up two major league assets in Crochet & Burger while also giving up our #2, #10, #16, & #19 prospects per BA’s mid-season rankings. That being said, we keep all the savages and most of our higher ceiling prospects. Perhaps it’s too big of a cost, but look at how much stronger this roster potentially is. Anderson, SS Moncada, 3B# Vaughn, DH Abreu, 1B Gallo, RF* Jimenez, LF Robert, CF Grandal, C# Wendle, 2B* IF: Harrison OF: Pollock OF: Engel UT: Garcia# BC: McGuire* / Zavala Cease Mahle Lynn Giolito Cueto Kopech 9th: Hendriks 8th: Bunmer* 8th: Graveman 7th: Scott* 7th: Lopez 6th: Givens 6th: Kelly 5th: Lambert

White Sox among 'most agressive' teams in pitching market
Portillo’s dropping some late night bombs: In all honesty, acquiring either guy would scare me. The Mahle price seems like it would be insane (especially if the Twins are also involved) and I worry that Thor will be limited come October like Kopech and not worth the ultimate cost.

I’m sick of beating the dead horse, but fire the shit out of Menechino. These guys are unprepared, undisciplined, and straight up guessing half the time. Beyond the shitty approach, these guys looking completely fucking clueless. For the love of god fire Menechino and see if anyone else can get through to these guys.

What is status of Luis Robert?
I don’t think you can sell three games out, but if the Sox know something about Robert and it isn’t good then they should be punting on this season.

Rays Acquire David Peralta
Oh I 100% agree the main point holds true, but I’d argue the fall-off is more in the late teens. The reality is the very top of our system is weaker than most and our depth is even worse. And that kills our ability to make trades. I’m just disputing that it’s as bleak as fathom was painting it, but no doubt it’s a bottom five system.

Rays Acquire David Peralta
I love you fathom, but this is a massive exaggeration. Sean Burke, Christian Mena, Jarred Kelley, Matthew Thompson, & Jonathan Cannon are all right around the 10 to 15 range IMO and would be top 30 prospects in most if not all systems.

Harold Baines was boring as hell…Tim Anderson is the right face for this franchise

Call me crazy, but I think Gavin might be a little better than Andrew, although both are terrible out there.

Menechino is movable
Here is your monthly update on the White Sox’s offense: BB %: 30th K %: 5th ISO: 28th EV: 9th HH %: 10th BABIP: 3rd BA: 4th OBP: 18th OPS: 18th wRC+: 19th Not surprising we also have the 6th lowest launch angle, 6th highest GB rate, and the highest opposite field rate. This is not a talent issue, this is a well designed organizational approach executed by our beloved hitting coach. This approach is dumb enough just from a modern baseball standpoint, but to think it makes any sense when you play half your games at Guaranteed Rate it quickly becomes pure negligence. We have been out-homered 66 to 43 or by 53% at home despite plenty of guys with raw power and who hit the ball hard. That’s 100% unacceptable and Menechino should have been relieved of his duties a long time ago. The fact that he hasn’t means he’s either protected by Tony or the front office was complicit in the design of this approach. Either way, may the baseball gods take mercy on our souls and give us a few more HRs.

The Rockies are the dumbest organization in sports. What in the hell are they doing extending a 37 year old closer who would actually bring back legit value?

Rumor: Sox Pursuing Jose Quintana
- Sure, David Peralta will solve everything
I’d rather see the White Sox in there, but I guess that’s just me- Rumor: Sox Pursuing Jose Quintana
Not that I’m aware of, but we are paying VV more than the Pirates are paying Quintana. It’s possible that Jose felt his opportunity to start games was better in Pittsburgh though.- Sure, David Peralta will solve everything
Last night partially broke me, but then I looked at the scoreboard and saw that the Twins last as well. The AL Central is terrible and may allow a massively underachieving team access to the playoffs. I agree our chances of winning a World Series are very low even if we make the playoffs, but you never know once you get there and it’s possible our team gets hot at just the right time. To give up some fringe prospects in a bottom five system to increase our shot at making them is worth it IMO. But I wouldn’t want Hahn to trade Montgomery for Montas or something like that.- Sure, David Peralta will solve everything
We got Tepera for Bailey Horn. That would be the type of deal I’d go for. - Sure, David Peralta will solve everything
