  1. I agree, to me we’re approaching now or never time. As for what they’d give up, the Dodgers were prepared to give up something of value for him last year. Obviously he’s going to cost much less to acquire now, but I could see the Dodgers being interested in him at some small price. Most teams are going to look at his full body of work and see a guy that was a top 6 reliever in baseball despite two bad months. What that price remains to be seen. If it’s Bellinger, it’s only because the Dodgers view him as 1 to 2 win player next year who provides little to no surplus value. Obviously it’s a gamble to think you can out-scout the Dodgers, but if Conforto doesn’t happen I’d take my chances.
  2. With Correa & Castellanos off the market, Story & Conforto should move fast. I’m really hoping things are settled by Monday.
  3. I think both are long shots, but there is no chance in hell we get Lux for Kimbrel. Bellinger is less of a long shot, but still super unrealistic IMO.
  4. Am I correct that Story & Conforto are the last two free agents of note? I guess Soler is still around, but not our cup of tea and it seems like he’s destined for the Padres.
  5. You think it’s going to take that long to move Kimbrel? IMO, if they can’t move him in the next week, he’s probably here to start the season. Not a lot of teams can slide a $16M closer into their budget last second.
  6. That doesn’t matter if the rotation breaks down.
  7. Hey James, Conforto still costs a pick to sign right?
  8. Two years of Sonny Gray…he has a team option for 2023.
  9. What are you talking about? The Padres have been looking for ways to dump Myers by attaching a prospect to his contract. Sox may be desperate to move Kimbrel, but worse case scenario we should be able unload all or most of his contract for nothing. They do not need to take on a horrible deal to do so.
  10. But hey, let’s not worry about that hole in RF or the problem spot in the rotation.
  11. Is that the move you had heard about?
  12. To me, the Sox outlined what their strategic priorities were for this offseason and there’s one blatantly obvious need still unaddressed. Conforto has always been the best fit for what the Sox need and his price should be right in our wheelhouse. I get there are long-term payroll factors that must be considered, but signing this dude just makes too much sense from a logic standpoint. For now, I remain optimistic that Hahn wouldn’t spend all this money on relievers & utility men if it prevented him from acquiring the left-handed power bat he said he wanted earlier this offseason.
  13. Which he did by leaking the Twins having interest. That seems like an obvious plant by Boras against the Sox.
  14. At least since the Machado fiasco
  15. Kimbrel is paid market rate more or less whereas Myers is an albatross. I don’t see how that makes any sense for us without a massive second piece coming back from the Padres.
  16. But he’s literally linked nowhere…his market remains a total mystery. At the end of the day, Hahn said adding lineup balance was am importance offseason goal and that has yet to happen in any capacity. That alone keeps me optimistic there is a chance here.
  17. And you don’t think Conforto happens simply because of these random Twitter insiders?
  18. Focus on winning now and just trade some when the time comes. That being said, the Sox will need introduce some young players into key roles over the next couple years. Romy, Popeye, or possibly Yogurt will need take on the 2B and/or utility roles. Crochet might have to move to the rotation in 2023. And we need to develop some god damn relievers.
  19. @fathom - If the Sox free up $16M from trading Kimbrel, what do you expect them to do with the savings.
  20. Jerry’s accountants wouldn’t be leaking stuff on Twitter. I can’t stress enough how quickly they would be caught and fired for that.
  21. He’s definitely leaving room open for Conforto.
  22. At hitting though…he can still do that at DH. Weird timing nonetheless.
  23. MLBTraderumors had Castellanos getting a 5/$115M deal, so this came in light than their expectations. Regardless, I think Conforto gets less Nick given their radically different 2021 seasons.
