I think you hit it on the head, although I’d add Bard to the Rockies’ list.

Prospects on the 40 man roster make sense, but a lot of them are underperforming in Stiever, Lambert, Burdi, Johnson, Lopez, Rutherford, & Gonzalez. Some of them could go, but you’d be selling low on those first guys and probably wouldn’t get much for the next three. Then you have guys like Burger & Sheets who have probably seen their stock move up enough that they shouldn’t be moved for straight rentals. As such, prospects I could definitely see going are Adolfo, Gonzalez, Sosa, Mendoza, Mieses, Pilkington, McClure, Bilous, & Horn, plus maybe a guy like Foster who has been bad this year but has shown some major league success.

Yeah, Kanny has been ugly but mostly expected given their youth / lack of experience. I’d actually say the AA arms have done well in Pilkington, McClure, & Bilous. It’s AAA that’s the most frustrating with both Stiever & Lambert getting beat as well as most of the important relief prospects like Burdi, Johnson, etc.

And that’s very much true, but even those numbers were never sustainable. The fact is Goodwin started off hot and is currently cooling down, but neither state reflects the run rate performance you’d expect out of him. Goodwin should provide league average or better production vs. RHP and that’s valuable in the absence of a legit upgrade. GMs don’t overreact to hot & cold streaks and neither should we.

Stop overreacting to cold & hot streaks. 14 days, good or bad, isn’t predictive of shit and right now we’re simply seeing regression to the mean. Goodwin is likely a league average hitter or so and that has value given our other options.

I think he’s here even after Robert gets back. Unless they’re prepared to go all-in on Sheets, Goodwin will part of a RF platoon with Engel.

I’m not getting all the Goodwin hate. Certainly he’s overplayed well beyond his abilities so far with us and is going to regress, but the dude has a long track record of being a league average hitter and isn’t a bad defender in the corners like he is in CF. Unless we add a legit RF upgrade or Sheets somehow runs away with the job as rookie, Goodwin is a useful player to have on this roster.
