  1. Good question. Meidroth is such a unique prospect that I’m not sure front offices know exactly how to value him. Projections models love him due to his OBP skills with Steamer 600 projecting him for 2.9 fWAR this year (the highest on the team). At the same time, from a pure scouting perspective, he’s not going to wow anyone with all his tools in the 40 to 45 range outside of the hit tool. But IMO, you can’t ignore what is effectively 80 grade plate discipline. I think that combined with his plus hit tool provides a very high floor. If he can add some strength, then I think he can become a fairly impactful hitter. He will obviously never be a big power guy, but if he could get closer to a .130 ISO by hitting 25 doubles & 15 HRs, then I think you’re looking at a potential All Star. I personally think a guy with a high floor and some potential ceiling should be worth quite a bit, but I could some front offices worrying about whether the elite OBP will carry into the majors and feeling he’s more of a reserve infielder type in the long-run.
  2. Are we thinking a torn UCL for Adams? That’s going to be super upsetting if so.
  3. The power concern is fair but Meidroth has triple plus plate discipline to go with his incredible bat to ball skills whereas Madrigal was just a high contact hitter. That difference is incredibly important. ZiPS projects him to put up a .360 OBP as a rookie. Even with 7 to 10 HRs that’s an above league average hitter.
  4. Probably just politics at this point based on stuff they said to Bryse Wilson during the courting process
  5. The Meidroth hate is strong in this one 😁
  6. Honestly, he’s just a dude that can eat up innings in a pinch, which has some value as a rebuilding team that may not want to force actual prospects into situations where they start on short rest, etc. He simply doesn’t K enough guys to be a #5 starter / swingman on a competitive team IMO. My guess is he will eventually be DFAed this year when actual prospects warrant 40 man spots.
  7. Shuster has been optioned to AAA, which is not at all surprising.
  8. How could you not be obsessed with this imposing physical specimen?
  9. Seems like a perfectly reasonable #3 WR signing (pending terms). They will likely add another WR in the draft too. Not sure why you hating on this?
  10. I’m excited about the Meidroth authentic jersey I plan to order once he officially makes the team.
  11. Most people have Sosa as the primary DH and then filling-in throughout the infield. I seriously doubt they go with him as the everyday SS. Also, bring the AAA guys up on a case by case basis when they are ready. No need for them all to come up at once.
  12. Because a lot players aren’t interested in signing pre free agency extensions and having a player for 6.9 years at a below market rate is substantially more valuable than just 6 years. And that holds even more true when your owner refuses to pay free agents market rate.
  13. It’s funny, I am very supportive of service time manipulation to get the extra year of control when possible, but if any prospect has a chance at getting us draft pick compensation from an Opening Day assignment I think it’s Teel. I’d still start him in Charlotte because there is little harm in giving him a few more months of minor league seasoning, but I feel like he’d be a real threat in the AL for ROY if a mostly full season.
  14. Meidroth remains the favorite to be our Opening Day SS. I went to DraftKings earlier this week and he is not a betting option for AL ROY. As soon as he is, make sure to place your bets because he’s going to run away with it.
  15. That contract has not worked out well for the Red Sox
  16. It’s a really week draft though, especially at the top of it. What players would you be interested in at 1.10? There may not be a LT or pass rusher prospect worth taking. Again, I would personally try to trade down and accumulate more picks, but that requires a trading partner who is willing to pay to move up.
  17. It’s a dying industry and given his tenure he probably makes a lot more than a potential replacement.
  18. Getz also had a brief interview on the demotion and said they liked his defense at SS this spring.
  19. I agree that a high end pass rusher would be the ideal addition, but just not sure you will get a sure thing at 1.10. Honestly, I’d prefer to trade down and add more picks if someone surprising doesn’t make it to our pick. Simmons might worth a gamble later in the 1st and there should be talent at DT, EDGE, RB, TE, & WR in the 2nd & 3rd. Unfortunately, I’m just not sure there will be a lot of teams eager to move up into our pick and could see Poles going BPA at 1.10 which could very well be Jeanty.
  20. No doubt, but hard to argue that he didn’t have a massive impact on the Eagles’ success last year. Shelf life is a concern obviously and there may not be a ton of separation between good and average RBs, but I think having an elite RB can transform an offense. Having said that, for the juice to really be worth the squeeze, you need to have the rest of your roster mostly in place. Let me ask this question. What realistic pick at 1.10 could have a bigger impact for us than Jeanty next year? I still think drafting a LT prospect or pass rusher makes the most sense long-term (if the right player is there), but those guys might just be role players or marginal upgrades in Y25. I just don’t see a bunch of other spots where a rookie comes into this roster and makes an immediate impact. Now, that doesn’t mean take Jeanty at 1.10 (especially in a super deep RB draft), but I think the question highlights that the bulk of the pieces needed to field a really good team are in place and you can probably consider splurging on a potential playmaker at less prioritized position and still add depth at other spots with your other picks.
  21. I think the Dodgers lack desperation since they know they are going to the playoffs next year no matter what and can wait and see if Getz panics.
  22. Which options are you referring to? Roster Resource currently has Outman as the Dodger’s CF.
  23. No, I doubt Friedman has offered anything in that stratosphere yet or else a deal would likely have been agreed to.
  24. Hope is probably a 55 FV prospect, which to me is a really good but not elite prospect. Enough uncertainty with him to not lose sleep over what he could be down the road when you are the Dodgers, have a strong farm system, and are in a prime competitive window.
