  1. What about Brett Myers or Wil Cordero? I personally also really hated David Wells, but not sure he would pass Navarro.
  2. If we add a legit #4 starter, we’ll have Kopech, Stiever, & Flores waiting in the wings at AAA with Lopez in the bullpen. That’s pretty decent depth, but definitely that one additional starter.
  3. Thanks. Not sure if it was you, but I apologize to whoever I told Tanaka wouldn’t accept a one year deal. Clearly I was wrong on that.
  4. Has he changed his demands? I thought he was looking for a multi-year deal and was hinting he’d go back to Japan if not offered one here.
  5. Dumbest post in Soxtalk history
  6. Second best in the AL on paper with the potential to be the best with enough development from the young guys.
  7. All good points, but in all honesty I’m skeptical this is true. But if it were true, I’d be shocked if they had ~$15M of budget left and they spent the bulk of it on an actual DH and basically ignored the rotation. We definitely need another starter and I’m confident they will add that, so signing Cruz would imply there has to be more money available. I’m not suggesting that means we’re suddenly approach the luxury tax, but perhaps we end up in the $145M to $150M range. Again, I’m doubtful any of that happens and fully expect a Richards or Quintana +’La Stella type to end this offseason.
  8. To me, it just depends on what version of Bauer you’re getting. The 2020 version is probably worth $35M while Quintana should be a $10M guy, but that’s based on a 12 start sample and there’s no guarantee you’re getting that guy.
  9. If the Sox were to sign him, I think it may suggest there is more to play with that we all think.
  10. There is a big disconnect between Quintana’s FIP and his Statcast numbers in 2019. And I really don’t think career numbers matter at all, when one is ascending talent and the other looking to be descending. It’s definitely possible that Jose ends up being a steal at $10M, but he’s not remotely comparable to Bauer IMO.
  11. Would be an absolute monster!
  12. Fully agree and Vera has been know about for like half a year, so not sure it would warrant that tweet.
  13. That would be pretty lame but definitely is a possibility.
  14. Hector retweeted this Ricardo guy’s tweet for whatever that is worth.
  15. Don’t know why he’d have access to that info though.
  16. Well that’s good news then! Cruz is still a legit possibility! And the Yankees aren’t getting Castillo, which is also awesome!
  17. Maybe, but who else is reporting this?
  18. So who do we trust here, Hector or Passan? I know Jeff has the better track record, but I don’t like what he’s selling and I’m all in on Gomez!
  19. Seriously, not even subtle about it.
  20. ?...not a good look for Hector and our hopes of adding Cruz...lol
  21. Cheesy Beef is just throwing a dart here, so I don’t think it’s related to whatever Hector is floating.
  22. Stealing straight from SoxTalk!
