  1. Can’t lose a trade if you get rid of a player you didn’t plan on using again and didn’t take on any money. Civale isn’t good but Vaughn was valueless to us.
  2. Lol…let’s just completely ignore position, defense, and handedness. If you think a 108 wRC+ against same side pitching is somehow mediocre for a gold glove caliber CF then you’re either being purposely ignorant or complaining just to complain. As for the “why exclude his current season”, his current season against RHP is a massive outlier and he’s been productive against them historically. If you are an opposing GM looking at acquiring him, you have to decide if this is a start of a new trend or a one-time blurb that can be fixed. Packaging it all together and saying “see he’s always been bat against RHP” is both untrue and lazy analysis.
  3. 108 wRC+ against RHP in 1,512 PA’s prior to this season isn’t what I’d call mediocre, just not nearly as good as his production against LHP.
  4. Lol…that’s how I felt last year. Not eager to repeat the experience.
  5. Meidroth is a rookie adjusting to the league who is also going through a bad BABIP stretch at the moment. If you expected no bumps in the road, I don’t know what to tell you…it’s all part of the development process.
  6. Might need to package a couple like that together and hope you can get one pretty decent prospect and some lottery tickets.
  7. If Sosa could just have the slightest amount of plate discipline, he’d could be a very useful bat. Sucks he hasn’t made any real progress in that area this year, but he’s still young enough for that to change.
  8. I’m definitely not against it, but would prefer getting a real prospect if we could.
  9. Not yet, but sounds like should eligible soon. Regardless, I’m playing both Robert and Baldwin nearly everyday in the OF once he is back. Taylor can ride pine for all I care.
  10. He’s got an extra year of team control I believe, so you don’t have him to move him technically. If we can’t get more than a minor league relief, then he’s probably worth holding onto as I don’t believe it’s going to be a deep free agent market for OFs.
  11. Isn’t Meidroth still out there? They are certainly not going to bench him if healthy.
  12. Unfortunately I was an XL back then from all the drinking in my youth and remain an XL now from just being old…lol.
  13. Rocking my Jenks jersey today. Hard to believe it’s 20 years old.
  14. Sweep these fucks. Would be great to see Smith get back on track after a rough June.
  15. It’s 100% a parody or at minimum there are posts purposely being made to get a rise out of people. For years I have envisioned there is some trolling forum on the dark web and that Greg is basically a legend there just laughing at getting away with this act for so long. That or he is just a completely uniformed poster out of Lawrence, KS. Could be either option I guess…lol.
  16. I’m an optimist, but no way is this thing close to a competitive lineup. What we are seeing is how much better a lineup can feel when you have close to league average hitters in most spots. Unfortunately there are still multiple holes and we are completely lacking in impact and power, which there aren’t obvious solves for in the minors after Braden. This is going to come down to spending some money if they really want to hurry this rebuild up. If we went out and added Alonso and Bellinger this offseason, I think we could see the makings of a competitive lineup by 2027: Meidroth, 2B C. Montgomery, SS* Bellinger, LF* Alonso, 1B B. Montgomery, RF# Teel, CA/DH* Quero, DH/CA Vargas, 3B Baldwin, CF#
  17. Devastating news. I was such a Jenks fan that I custom made a jersey in 2005 when he was first called up. He will always and forever be a favorite of mine. RIP brother.
  18. The good news (theoretically) is that 3/8 of them are coming off TJS and should (hopefully) have that risk behind them for a while. And three others have had TJS in the not too distant past and should (hopefully) have that risk behind them for the near-term. The problem is Schultz one of the two hasn’t had the surgery yet.
  19. I think there is a chance they eat a ton of money and dump him.
  20. Yeah, I feel like it’s going to be hard for the Cardinals to give Walker a bunch more runway with as bad as he’s been and them trying to compete. Again, the chances of him working out are slim, but Adell is an example (an an extreme one no doubt) of what happens when you give a kid an extended runway to work through their issues. Outside of Baldwin, there aren’t obvious OF prospects to give at-bas to these last couple and possibly even next year. I’m very much open to Walker or another post hype guy if we can get one with the scraps we’ll have to offer this deadline.
  21. We should be rocking something like this post deadline IMO: 1B: Sosa 2B: Meidroth SS: Montgomery 3B: Vargas LF: ??? CF: Baldwin RF: ??? DH: Quero/Teel CA: Teel/Quero No fucking clue what to do in the OF corners assuming we are able to move all the vets (including Benintendi, which is likely a pipe dream). Getz’s AAAA acquisitions have all more or less flopped with Fletcher now at a 95 wRC+ and ZeLoach at a 89 while the two athletes haven’t been remotely competent with Baker at a 54 wRC+ and Jones at a 34. Julks has been productive (127 wRC+) but is 29 and sporting a .371 BABIP, so not overly excited about giving him a ton of playing time. Honestly, would be a good time to find a post hype OF prospect who is out of options that we can give a two month audition to post deadline. Getz should be creative here as he doesn’t have a lot of quality assets to flip this deadline and a post hype guy is much more valuable when you have playing time to give them. Jordan Walker was a guy they liked last deadline and maybe there is a path to get him (yes, I know he has been terrible, but he is still super young).
  22. I’d also be looking to sell Martin if people value the control and I can get a decent OF prospect. I feel like that’s unlikely, but Getz will need to get creative.
  23. I said it in the gamethread, but you 100% trade Houser. Assuming we trade none of these guys, you are looking at something like the below for next year: Smith Burke Schultz Thorpe Martin Cannon Adams Bush By all means add some cheap veterans to the mix as we know injuries can quickly change the outlook of a staff, but you don’t pass on cashing in on Houser right now (assuming he has value) and agree to a multi year deal that makes it harder for these kids to get opportunities.
  24. I’d 100% trade him. Lots of guys coming back next year that will need a shot and I’d rather just cash in on Houser right now while he has some value.
