  1. He posted some nice numbers in AAA, just isn’t striking out anyone in the majors. His good luck was going to end at some point.
  2. He’s been really good the past month or so. There still may be hope with him. As for Rutherford, I know his average has shot up as of late, but his K rate, BB rate, & ISO have remained bad during this stretch. I’m not giving up on him or anything, but his recent stretch looks like BABIP regression to the mean more than anything.
  3. He’s got more raw power than Luis Gonzalez.
  4. The most important development of the season is Lucas establishing himself as a legit TOR season. So awesome to see.
  5. Giolito is such a fucking stud. If we could somehow land Cole this offseason, we could have the best rotation in baseball by 2021.
  6. You continue to evaluate the Alonso trade as a baseball move which it never was. From an on-field value perspective we were always going to lose the trade from day 1, so it’s disingenuous to say Hahn got clowned. The issue was not pairing the Yonder trade with a $300M offer for Machado.
  7. The amount of guys who have missed big chunks of multiple consecutive seasons in astounding. Burdi, Burger, Dunning, & Adolfo are the big ones, but then you got guys like A.J Puckett, Andre Davis, & Victor Davis who legit haven’t pitched in a professional game since 2017. I’m sure I’m missing some others as well, but it’s crazy as fuck.
  8. It did because I went to all of them and I barely got to see him pitch.
  9. Definitely worth the #4 pick IMO.
  10. Time to put this guy on ignore...
  11. I think it’s a stretch to say Hamilton will automatically be in the pen next year. He may compete for a spot, but he never got fully right from the car accident and now he has this face injury that only adds further complexion. A ton of things have gone right at the major league level this year, but none of RH relief prospects have really stepped up and established themselves which kind of forces us to add some veteran help if we’re serious about competing next year.
  12. Odds of Collins actually playing today?
  13. After the complete onslaught of injuries announced yesterday, I’m not sure we can actually afford to trade Colome now. Without him, I’m not sure you have a single reliable RH you can count on out of the pen. Marshall needs to strike more people out before we should all feel comfortable with him and Herrera has simply been a disaster this year. I think we should be fine from the left side (despite Fry’s struggles), but we’re going to need another strong RH option because all our high caliber relief prospects (Hamilton, Burdi, Burr) who could have maybe filled that need on the cheap are now big question marks or simply out for 2020. Rotation wise we need to add two legit starters and probably bring back Rodon even if he won’t be ready until late in the season. Right now, Bernardo Flores is the closest thing we have to an actual pitching prospect in AA & above and even he is hurt at the moment. Maybe Dunning comes back strong out of the gate next year, but we simply can’t count on that.
  14. Yup, feel like we need to lock him up.
  15. Hard to disagree with anything you’ve said. Overwhelmingly bad year on the minor league side of things. Getz and our strength & conditioning staff should be on the hot right now.
  16. I love Hahn saved this “positive” news to help offset the “everyone is injured” bomb he dropped today.
  17. A.J. Puckett as well. Not sure exactly what happened to the other guy we got for Melky, but he’s out for the year as well.
  18. I’ve been throwing this out there for a while, but we’ve passed the point of it all simply being bad luck. Rodon, Kopech, Dunning, Lambert, Burr, & Puckett all with TJS in less than a year. Other guys like Burdi, Flores, Tyler Johnson, etc. missing substantial time due to miscellaneous injuries. Basically every single key arm expect Giolito, Lopez, & Cease has been hurt this year and two of those guys are already TJSs under their belt. This is a fucking disaster, especially from a 40 man roster perspective. Not sure how you can hold onto all these guys. It also makes it harder to trade Colome given the uncertainty of our most important young relief prospects.
  19. I don’t know what kind of jobs you’ve had in the past, but I can’t believe there is any manager in the world who would assign a 12 month project and not provide any real time feedback. Most managers have a regular meeting cadence with their reports to talk about their workload amongst other things and they should be discussing overall performance & development at least a couple times a year. I can’t tell if you’ve just gotten a bum rap or you’re simply expecting too much.
  20. Jack, career achievement goals are always going to be subjective. If you can’t work around that uncertainty, I really don’t know what to tell you.
  21. I still don’t get the connection as moving Colome and filling RF are completely independent of each other. Also disagree that Colome & Peavy have roughly the same value, as I think Jake was without question worth more back then. The simple reality is if you can get a 50 FV kid for him (typically a top 125 to 150 prospect), you do it and worry about the closer role next year. We will have a ton of money to work with and even if free agency doesn’t have an ideal solution, there should be contracts we are able to take on at low prospect currency that should be able to fill the role. If not, then there is no reason to trade him IMO.
  22. What does that last sentence have to do with the rest of your post or even the thread in general?
  23. I’m worried this will turn into a Dane Dunning 2.0 situation where they try to rest it out and he’ll ultimately need TJS next year. That would not be good for Jimmy given his somewhat advanced age already.
  24. WAR ignores all context and doesn’t account for the fact a good reliever comes in late in the game with a win on the line. There is significant value being able to hold a lead late or close a game out and that’s completely ignored by WAR.
