Rodon to IL; Giolito activated
I was going to look for that tweet from his wife, but figured I’d wait and see how things shaked out first. Either way, his wife shouldn’t have been tempting the baseball gods given his injury history.

Rodon to IL; Giolito activated
The last time “everything was on the table” for an important Sox pitcher, Dane Dunning had TJS the same day the evaluation with Dr. Andrews was to take place. I am significantly concerned here.

Rodon to IL; Giolito activated
Because he may only have five or six years of bullets remaining so why waste any of them in AAA when he’s showed he’s ready enough?
-
Rodon to IL; Giolito activated
Just a hot take reaction. But very unfortunate news if serious.

Rodon to IL; Giolito activated
And this is the reason no matter what we’re adding a starter this offseason. Rodon has shown he can’t go through a season without some arm injury, whether minor or major.

The Rick Hahn Haters thread, sponsored by Balta1701 and Jack Parkman
We’ve been through this before, but the biggest two issues with Rick Hahn & our front office is it’s unwavering loyalty to key staff and a refusal to adapt quickly enough to the changing tides of the game. The acquisition of Ivan Nova is a perfect example of both problems. We have an old school pitching coach who refuses to change his approach amidst the juiced ball era and the Statcast revolution. Most front offices would either educate such pitching coach on what the new analytics suggest or simply would replace them with someone willing to get with the times. Rick Hahn, on the other hand, went out and took on Nova’s $9M salary based on some input from Don Cooper. So far, the results have been disastrous as many of us armchair GMs expected.

Game of Thrones
As a book reader, this article sums up my thoughts on the last episode: https://m.ign.com/articles/2019/05/01/game-of-thrones-s8-e3-sucked-night-king-spoilers-george-rr-martin-books

May 1 vs O's straight doubleheader 3:10 PM start time
Or just Ron which is all Jose needs to get going again ?
-
May 1 vs O's straight doubleheader 3:10 PM start time
Which is the worst part of the acquisition. Shows how behind the times the Sox are when it comes to modern pitching.

May 1 vs O's straight doubleheader 3:10 PM start time
The problem is Nova still owed ~$7M so it seems unlikely they’ll move as swiftly as they did with Santana.

May 1 vs O's straight doubleheader 3:10 PM start time
Hopefully in two months the rotation is Rodon, Lopez, Giolito, Cease, & Banuelos. I’m seen enough of Nova to last me a lifetime.

Nova is so fucking bad.

Please try to contain your excitement.

Robert Prospect Ranking
He’s also drawing walks like crazy of late. If he can be a .350+ OBP player with some gap power, he’ll be plenty valuable as a leadoff hitter for us.

You think India will be the #1 prospect in all of baseball come this offseason? Nevermind...ignore this post.

4/30 Games - Zangari is Back in Kanny / #ceaseday
Awesome that Zangari is back. He’s another guy of interest given his insane power potential.

Ervin Santana has been DFA
Maybe? Depends on how his season shakes out and if we need a one year placeholder at 1B. If we end up with Vaughn and decide to keep Collins at catcher, I may be ok with Alonso at 1B for one year (again, depending on how his season shakes out).
-
Ervin Santana has been DFA
I have no issue with you not liking the move, but let’s not cite his lower batting average as proof that he’s sucked this year. And career numbers are meaningless for him given the Statcast revolution.
-
Ervin Santana has been DFA
Come on dude, do you actually believe he’ll sustain an under .200 BABIP?
-
Ervin Santana has been DFA
To his credit, he didn’t end up spending $4.2M on a broken Santana. Also, Statcast seems to think Alonso has gotten super unlucky so far this year. As for Jay, I really can’t hate on that move unless they failed to do a physical or something of that nature. Nova is the one move that really bothers me because it’s hard to believe anyone could rationally think he’d be good in the AL and there were plenty of other options for the same price that made a ton more sense. And I didn’t like the McCann move, but at the very minimum he’s been better than expected.

4/29 Games
Yup, he’s always been a favorite sleeper prospect of mine due to his athleticism. If he can draw some walks and show a bit more power, he suddenly becomes something to pay a lot more attention to.
