  1. No one is moving because they are going for it in 2017. That was always the direction.
  2. QUOTE (flavum @ Jul 31, 2016 -> 04:11 PM) https://twitter.com/barstoolWSD/status/759873855896883200 Well? And any reason why he's asking? Cause he genuinely wants to know. I don't think his sources are talking, honestly.
  3. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jul 31, 2016 -> 03:24 PM) Am I the only one expecting a stealth bomb? At this point i'd say you're in the small minority. The Dodgers seem more focused on Archer/Moore, the Rangers are probably getting Lucroy and maybe a 4/5 starter, and the Red Sox seem frustrated. The Yankees appear to be focused on moving out Beltran and Nova, which leaves... no one, really.
  4. QUOTE (Deadpool @ Jul 31, 2016 -> 02:15 PM) Too early to tell, but he's completely out of his element in the pen in the major leagues. If we went full rebuild, it wouldn't really matter if Fulmer was good or not. I mean, it would be a big setback if they blew another high draft pick on a bust, rebuild or no. It's too early to tell, but he stunk at AA until he reverted to his old, violent mechanics, the ones that make him likely to be a reliever. Now he's a reliever and he still stinks.
  5. Guys, I don't know if Carson Fulmer is going to be a good pitcher.
  6. Also I have nothing to base this on, other than the return for Duke, but I get the impression that we aren't seeing any action because Hahn is still targeting guys on the cusp of the majors rather than high ceiling prospects. This is a FO that is unwilling to accept risk, and for that, they shall be perpetually crappy.
  7. QUOTE (DirtySox @ Jul 31, 2016 -> 01:56 PM) I have this awful feeling that holding on to Sale past the deadline is somehow going to bite this organization in the ass. Wouldn't it be the most White Sox thing that could happen, though? Hahn waits to get more suitors in offseason, meanwhile Sale either has a miserable half season or gets injured, tanking his value.
  8. I expect they'll trade Robertson if they can find a suitor. I wouldn't expect the return to be much more than a Tilson type. Otherwise, yeah. They're done.
  9. Jayson Stark - Based on what i've heard, "less than 5% chance" Sale is moved. "More curious than serious".
  10. It probably just means they're discussing deadline strategy. Or Farrell is getting canned.
  11. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Jul 31, 2016 -> 12:08 PM) Our own raBBit with the following tweat: That's good news. Also, it sounds like Robertson isn't in bullpen right now. Deal could be close. Oh, you didn't post the follow up tweet where his source called the potential returns on Sox core guys "underwhelming". Nothing big is going to happen.
  12. QUOTE (Dunt @ Jul 31, 2016 -> 09:25 AM) So you just bring Tilson up, right? I see him up in Sept, he takes most of the playing time from Avi and Shuck. In the offseason, both those guys are gone.
  13. QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Jul 31, 2016 -> 09:29 AM) Wow. Sale could be a Yankee soon IMO. They have been talking about sale and now have loaded up on prospects to do it I'm trying not to get my hopes up. It could also be an off season project.
  14. Yanks are busy, get Tyler Clippard. They are going for it in 2017. We have smoke, now lets get some fire.
  15. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Jul 31, 2016 -> 07:13 AM) Torress, Frazier, Severino, Bird, Sanchez, and Judge for Sale. I actually deleted my post with this deal, minus Bird, figuring I would get the standard "not enough" reply. I think even without Bird, this is a killer package of talent. Also, Frazier being a White Sox and tormenting Cleveland would be sweet.
  16. Miller is better than DRob but the difference isn't as pronounced as ERA says it is. Control and money are similar. Get it done, Rick.
  17. QUOTE (EvilJester99 @ Jul 31, 2016 -> 07:45 AM) Indians get Andrew Miller Hoping this motivates the Tigers to do something dumb and the Astros to pony up for Robertson. Cleveland is legit, though one of the journos speculated that the Lucroy deal might be in danger.
  18. Genuinely curious what you guys think is the likelihood of this happening. I'm somewhere around 10% right now.
  19. Huge discrepancy between fWAR and bWAR on Hamels, but he could win it due to low ERA. Favorites are still probably Sale, Salazar, Kluber, Tanaka, and Aaron Sanchez. Michael Fulmer probably won't have enough IP.
  20. QUOTE (ChiSox59 @ Jul 29, 2016 -> 12:51 PM) Seems like a no brainer to me. Why would the yanks reject that!? They want to win and unlike the Sox they have the resources to do so.
  21. QUOTE (ChiSox59 @ Jul 29, 2016 -> 11:15 AM) IMO - that actually makes a ton of sense (I have actually suggested that very thing). Blow it up next July if it doesn't work. Sale and Q will still be worth the same amount then. It's wrong to think they will be as valuable next July because of three things: 1. They could get hurt (knock on wood, but it happens). 2. The trade market will be richer with expiring contracts, so there will be more supply. 3. They will have less team control left. The time to strike is absolutely now. I understand that the FO is deluded about the chance of competing next year, but that doesn't excuse doing nothing. Winners strike while the iron is hot.
  22. QUOTE (soxforlife05 @ Jul 28, 2016 -> 09:10 PM) Will the Avi Garcia experiment ever end? Can we ever play Saladino? Or are we just going to trade him and watch him become Semien 2.0 One of my reservations about getting on the sell train is that it would invite the Sox to keep playing Avi while they rebuild/retool.
  23. I think they'll stand pat. Hahn will talk about how the right deals weren't there, and Kenny will talk about how it pays to be aggressive, but you can't spend a dollar if you only have 50 cents, etc. Just prepping for the worst, guys! I tell you though, if they bring Robin back next year, i'm done with the team.
  24. QUOTE (Scoots @ Jul 27, 2016 -> 08:04 PM) I'm pretty sure Hawk just said that the homerun by Ranaudo was the first homer by a major league pitcher this year. I think that's false. Bartolo Colon anyone? I'm sure there have been others as well...maybe I heard him wrong idk. Maybe the first by an AL pitcher. I'd buy that.
