  1. QUOTE (Jake @ Jul 21, 2016 -> 06:51 PM) You know, there's a good argument for moving Sale over Quintana. My main thought is you can keep Quintana longer at less per year and he is only barely worse than Sale as a player. But I think other teams would be willing to trade MUCH more for Sale due to his name recognition. This is the camp I am in. Restock the larder with Sale (and others) and build the staff around Q.
  2. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Jul 21, 2016 -> 06:39 PM) Giants looking for an OFer with Pence a question mark. A reunion with Melky in SF's future? I think if they do end up selling, Melky is as good as gone. I could see the Astros as a landing spot - They have Springer and Rasmus, but Gomez is atrocious and their young guys aren't stepping up. Is Colin Moran too much for Melky?
  3. I'm going to assume leadership is constant for the next few seasons until the White Sox give me a reason to believe it won't be.
  4. I think the second wildcard ship has sailed. There are 5 teams that are as good or better than us between the 2nd WC, and one of them is already provisionally selling. The Yankees will join them soon. I don't think its entirely delusional to try to make a run at 2017, but it will require some very creative trading and the same kind of "lightning-in-a-bottle" free agency approach that so many are sick of. The best plan is probably to sell small now, try and get some pieces for 2017 and beyond, and re-evaluate who can contribute in the near term after the season. If FA does not work out for the Sox, or if they tank in early 2017, plan a rebuild. As far as a 25 man roster, that requires a level of rosterbating i'm not comfortable with.
  5. QUOTE (shipps @ Jul 21, 2016 -> 07:37 AM) They are selling. My gut says they are selling this time. When something doesn't work and you continue to see the same outcome over and over you cant help but be convinced that you have to try a different route. They may be stubborn and optimistic to a fault but this is blatantly obvious. Yeah, I agree with this. Hahn has his warts, and he may actually be bad at his job, but he ain't dumb. The question, I think, is what the goal of the sell is. Is it to contend in 2017? 2018? Beyond? We'll know in 10 days I suppose.
  6. Lets say, Sale to Rangers for... Profar Sweet Lew Brinson Luis Ortiz Ariel Jurado an A ball pitcher (the Rags have a lot)
  7. Anyways I still don't think Q or Sale are moved at the deadline, unless a team really screws their future by overpaying. More likely an offseason move. I do think that Melky, Frazier, Lawrie, MiGo, Robertson, Duke and Jennings will be on the block though. Anyone with modest value with ~ 2 seasons or less of control (and Jennings, selling high).
  8. QUOTE (Condor13 @ Jul 20, 2016 -> 09:07 PM) Q for Puig and a few prospects Q for Bregman, Reed and maybe a few others Q for Baez and few other prospects I actually believe that any of these trades will not hurt our chanced this year and will vastly improve them in the future One of these things is not like the others...
  9. Burns' hitting cratered this season. He may not be toast but he has no power and his MiLB numbers don't exactly inspire confidence. A guy who actually was designated was Nick Tepesch, who could give the Sox more depth. He's better than, like, Chris Volstad.
  10. The Sox aren't trading him now, but they might after the season, assuming they continue to underwhelm. Regardless, very happy Q is getting some recognition for his hard work and excellence.
  11. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 10, 2016 -> 11:33 AM) I would be curious to see the details of those other teams leases. Don't question it! The Sox are dumb and their problems are totally unique in MLB.
  12. Amado Nunez, Micker Adolfo, Maiker Feliz, Carlos Perez, Felix Mercedes, a few others. Adolfo is struggling, but he is also a very raw 19 year old in full season ball. His tools are legit.
  13. I'd actually prefer to trade for his inverse, Jon Jay. Jay is a better fielder with less power, and left handed. Both are hurt now, though, which makes them tough to trade.
  14. Something like Dahl, Ramiel Tapia and Kyle Freeland. In a total rebuild, i'd do that trade.
  15. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Jul 6, 2016 -> 04:31 PM) Here's an interesting trade idea: Carlos Rodon to the Rockies for OF David Dahl. Dahl is a good start, but it would probably take an additional t5-10 guy to get Rodon.
  16. Yeah I read "wrenched his knee severely" which could be a lot of things, probably ranging from a month to the rest of the season.
  17. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 5, 2016 -> 10:04 PM) The Sox always act like a team content to be a game or two within .500 or over .500 cause "there's so much time left in the season." Then after the all-star break they'll hit the road for some 10-game road trip go 1-9 or 2-8 and that's that. Season done. This team annually is the opposite of intense. It plays like a team with cool uniforms - cool. Whatever happens happens but we ain't gonna sweat. They're not all that talented. Playing .500 baseball is what moderately talented teams do.
  18. Add middle relief and hope the team continues to play reasonably well. Get that second wildcard and anything can happen. Finish with 78-82 wins though, and they might be looking at more rebuilding. No reason to commit one way or another right now. Wait til the offseason.
  19. First time winning by 3+ runs since May Liking this bounce back.
  20. Be nice to not have to use Robertson here.
  21. Its not unthinkable that the Yankees try and do a fast reload by dealing Chapman and Beltran. It would be the same strategy the Tigers took last year. Speaking of which, a logical place for Chapman to land? Detroit, of course.
  22. Jackson will need a week or so of rehab right? I think he won't be back until late July / early August. Hopefully by the time he gets back he is the 4th OF.
  23. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Jul 3, 2016 -> 04:48 PM) We've played an absolute gauntlet of a schedule and the rest of the way is a joke, aside from Cleveland and KC This is true. We are done with playing the best teams in the AL West and NL East, and have only 3 games against Baltimore remaining. Gotta get it done against Cle/KC/Det to win, though.
