Team needs some middle relief and a bat or two. They could still get that 2nd wild card.
-
Timmy breaks through. Still shouldn't be leading off.
-
Does he still have MiLB options? I think a rebuilding team might put a claim on him.
-
Would it be safe to say Avi's DFA date and Morneau's roster add date are one in the same?
-
This should put to bed the notion that the bullpen is ok. Anyways, good job offense. The dingers are starting to arrive, now we just need to get a few guys on base for when they do.

Chicago White Sox vs Minnesota Twins 6/28/2016

Avila is fine for a catcher and batting 8th/9th. Shuck is a subpar bench option and I don't know what Avi is but it ain't an MLB player. Masterful work tonight in dashing any potential hopes of another winning streak. -

Poor Jose always gets the worst draws. -
On a positive note, the Bham bats came alive today, and Fulmer had another excellent start. His inconsistency is painful to see, but its better than just being bad.
-
I haven't watched him on defense, so I can't comment. Offensively, he has been as expected, with high BABIP and contact skills compensating for high K rate and no BB skills. Power has exceeded expectations. B/B+, and he definitely should not be leading off.

First back-to-back series wins since APRIL. Let us hope for a return to normalcy.

June 23rd Game Thread: White Sox @ Red Sox 12:35pm CT

are the white sox back? -
The Red Sox are 16th in fWAR for pitching. Not great, not awful. Price/Wright/Porcello is a fine trio. They definitely need a mid-rotation guy. But Chris Sale? They could use those chips to improve someplace they really need it, like, say, catcher. Hmm who could they get to fill in there? The Rangers and Pirates are at 21 and 28, respectively. That is bad and REALLY bad for contending teams.
-
Ahh the annual trade Sale article. Boston doesn't need Sale, they have pitching. I'd look at a contender like Texas or Pittsburgh with mediocre pitching. You aren't getting stars back for Sale. Contending teams don't trade stars. Unless you don't agree they should trade Sale, which is fine. But don't realistically expect star return.
-
Robertson and Melky won't get you much, but both are capable players, and teams need OF/DH and relievers. You can get real actual prospects, but probably not top 100 guys. Navarro, Shields, etc are more likely to be released than traded.
-
Guys i'd trade if the pain don't stop: Sale, Robertson, Melky, Jones Guys I hold on to for dear life: Q, Rodon, Eaton Guys with low trade value: Abreu, Frazier You could completely rebuild the farm by trading those 4 guys and still have a few nice core pieces. All those guys in the 2 group are around til 2020 at least so you can build around them. Not saying its the best plan but its better that 76-80 wins a season for the next 5 years or a $150MM payroll and 85-88 wins over the same span.

QUOTE (SCCWS @ Jun 20, 2016 -> 06:39 AM) DUMB. None of those are everyday ML players right now. So you would trtade sale who is a Top 5 player in baseball for 5 ML players some of whom may never even make it to the bigs. Foe example, Swihart was their highly rated catching prospect who didn't make their team this season and got sent down to learn the outfield. He is back up playing the outfield due to an injury and still struggling. Any trade to Boston should start w Betts or Bradley who are both everyday ML players. Yes, that is how you maximize return on a proven asset. You take on risk. If they traded Sale for only MLB proven players, they would only get maybe 2 average players. That is ignoring the fact that buying teams don't trade established major leaguers for upgrades. They Sox don't need average. They need star-caliber talent. This is how rebuilding works. Also get out of here with that Betts/Bradley garbage, those guys are better than Sale right now and make less money.
-
I wonder if the Pirates could be convinced to bite on Sale. They have an excellent farm system and their pitching is struggling this year. They probably would not trade Taillon but a package with Glasnow + would be tempting.
-
They can scout and develop pitching at the amateur level pretty well. They seem to have a lot of problems scouting guys already in the MLB, on all sides (pitching, hitting, defense). This extends to scouting other team's players for advance planning. They also have a real problem developing hitters, though that could be changing (Thompson, Semien, Anderson) even if those guys are elsewhere. The problem is talent, yes, but after such a prolonged streak of mediocrity, you have to say the problem is more with talent evaluation and the front office than with the guys on the field. Fire the manager, sure. Robin contributes very little. Fire the GM, sure. Hahn has made logical moves that haven't panned out, and the Shields trade is a fireable offense. But would that really change anything? It seems like they have to completely redo their player evaluation systems, if indeed they have an organized system, due to repeated failure. That is not a simple task.

Somewhere between depression and acceptance, but i'll go backwards to anger if the FO trades the farm before the deadline.
-
QUOTE (Black_Jack29 @ Jun 13, 2016 -> 06:45 PM) The only rationalization that I can think of is that Hahn thinks that his job is not safe and he's reaching. I would say his job is definitely not safe.

QUOTE (Big Hurtin @ Jun 13, 2016 -> 06:45 PM) What position player will get to pitch tonight? Hoping Saladino gets the call tonight.
-
BIG GUMB, JAME
-
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jun 13, 2016 -> 06:40 PM) That would make a huge difference. It wouldn't, true, but the point being he's putting a spade full of dirt on his grave, rather than digging out. He can't outpace the industrial backhoe of suck that is the 2016 White Sox, but he isn't even trying.
-
Upshot is that we might see Tyler Danish tonight!
-
QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Jun 13, 2016 -> 06:38 PM) I actually feel bad for Robin tonight, nothing he can do about this nonsense. He could not bat Anderson leadoff. That would be a start.
