  1. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Dec 8, 2016 -> 12:01 AM) Supposedly the Marlins aren't willing to give up the qualifying pick for Jensen. That is what I heard on LA sports talk tonight at least. They mentioned Jensen's reps were spotted with the Dodgers most of the day. Yeah, just read that. Huh. I guess its the Dodgers or possibly the Nats then.
  2. He was a fan favorite, which really sucks to lose. So yeah, Nats-Red Sox WS in 2017. Book it.
  3. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 11:52 PM) By the way, I don't see Dodgers not paying Jensen. Hard telling. They have some good relievers already and even if they aren't cutting costs massively, they may not be ready to drop huge money on a closer. Plus, Loria has opened the coffers to pay for an elite closer, which is weird, but I'm not sure the Marlins get outbid here. Of course this could all be totally wrong! Hot Stove, Baby!
  4. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 11:49 PM) Best thing that could happen for us is if Jensen signs somewhere other then LAD. Would make a package of Robertson / Frazier more likely and I think in their case a package deal probably maximizes the value we get back. Marlins would be another good option for Robertson and we should be in a position where we actually throw cash along too (given the savings we've had) to maximize talent back (and Fish would be the type of team more then willing to contribute along those lines). Marlins system isn't great, but I'm sure they have the pieces to get Robertson. I think if LA misses out on Jensen, they will pony up for Turner. Robertson makes a lot of sense though.
  5. QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 11:43 PM) So are the Yankees going to try and compete this year or what? Hard telling given the length of the deal. I doubt they push too hard for 2017, but Q makes a lot of sense as a long term asset. They might be interested in Nate Jones to setup Chapman as well.
  6. QUOTE (ChiliIrishHammock24 @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 11:39 PM) Robertson's value just continues to climb with every massive RP deal signed. Not sure if this is a popular opinion, but if the Sox subsidize a Robertson trade w/ money in 2017, theoretically they could maximize their talent return. Payroll is gonna be in the tank anyways so why not.
  7. Cash is consistently one of the smartest GMs in the game. This also means they will be looking to win sooner than 2019/2020. Rick, hit em up.
  8. QUOTE (DirtySox @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 09:32 PM) We.Get.It.You.Need.The.Rebuild.Done.Immediately. Get.The.Biggest.Laser
  9. They could also try and target Eduardo Rodriguez or Duffy, but that would be going cheap in a big year for them. Hopefully they recognize that stakes is high.
  10. QUOTE (South Sider @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 08:27 PM) How serious do you guys think the Yankees would be for a Q trade? I mean, are they going to be going for it or are they trying to build up that farm rather then selling off part of the farm? I think some of it depends on if they sign Chapman. If they sign Chappy and then pivot to EE, they could be good again in a hurry, in which case Q makes sense.
  11. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 07:42 PM) They will never be a contender if they can't send a full roster out there. That is the lesson. Pitching is no good if you are losing 2-1 every night. We just spent years doing it. Sending out and getting more pitching doesn't fix the problem. It extends the problem. I kind of agree, but it's also very early in the rebuild and the Sox have two premium chips in Quintana and Jones. A lot could still be coming.
  12. I understand being upset at the direction of the team. This is a big risk and the 2017 WS are going to be awful. TINSTAAPP as well. But i'd rather the team take a risk like this than the alternative.
  13. I love the Yankees prospects too, but Cashman is too smart to splurge this early. They will win 75-80 games next year but they'll be monsters again soon enough.
  14. Also I think NGale was mentioning "serious" talks this last trade deadline, so you know, grain of salt.
  15. QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 08:03 AM) If the report yesterday was true, Hahn is getting more calls about Q than he did for Sale. True, but unlike with Sale, we have no idea what the asking price is. The calls could dry up fast if teams don't want to pay "95%" of the cost of Sale.
  16. LOL wow you can really see which reporters are getting info from which FO huh.
  17. QUOTE (bmags @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 07:55 AM) Rosenthals latest said Nats not interested in Q. The Sox might match up with the Nats on a Robertson trade, but the Q market is looking leaner. Things could shift, obv, but who has been actively linked to Q and is still needs pitching? Houston? Yankees?
  18. QUOTE (bmags @ Dec 6, 2016 -> 11:18 PM) Why are Marlins so intent on a closer? They're a really weird team.
  19. dont stop get it get it it being robles and giolito
  20. I am so happy that Chris will get to pitch in playoff games (fingers crossed) Godspeed, little doodle.
  21. QUOTE (ChiliIrishHammock24 @ Dec 6, 2016 -> 12:24 AM) Sox fans probably won't like this, but I would take a package of Kyle Freeland, Tom Murphy (who I've been putting in hypothetical trades for over a year now), and Ben Bowden (teammate of Fulmer). Or just Tapia and Freeland. I was just thinking that Tapia + Freeland seems like a pretty good package.
  22. If the Sox don't get a legit catcher from selling then yeah, i'm all about Welly.
  23. Whats frustrating is that I can still see them going either way. They did this same thing with Viciedo and then cut him before they had to pay him real money. So that could happen if they plan to compete.
  24. People like to rag on Avi because he's terrible at baseball, but what they forget is that the White Sox are also terrible at baseball.
  25. Sale - Goes Quintana - Stays Robertson - Stays until deadline Fraizer - Goes Jones - Stays until deadline Abreu - Stays Melky - Goes Eaton - Stays Jennings - Goes MiGo - Stays until deadline
