Rick blew it! -
Excellent banner, but I truly hope we can do better than Beer.

QUOTE (Nokona @ Apr 1, 2017 -> 03:03 PM) Hayes sac fly ties it in the ninth as Delmonico collides with the catcher at home. The catcher is being strapped onto a gurney, looks like a damaged knee? It was a clean play by Delmonico. Yeah, I think Delmonico slid into his knee (which was in the path to the plate) while he simultaneously fell backwards on top of said knee. What horrible timing.

Which of these (bad) options would you bat lead off?

Melky. Get him more AB's to hopefully pump his trade value. -
Nick Franklin DFA'd. Would be an interesting grab.

I'll say 69-93, though it certainly could be worse. Fangraphs depth charts (an incredibly shallow and basic method of prediction) has us last in the majors in WAR, even before veterans are traded.

YoMo, obv.

https://nypost.com/2017/03/25/yankees-futur...a-new-rotation/ You know what would help with that, yanks? In my mind I keep circling back to the Yankees as the most logical suitors for Q. They're not rebuilding (Braves), they don't have to horde prospects to keep payroll low (Pirates) and they don't have a strong rotation locked up long term (Astros, Dodgers). So now it's just a matter of waiting for them to hit the right point in the "win curve" where a Q acquisition is necessary and not just totally logical.

QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Mar 24, 2017 -> 11:09 AM) The top of their rotation is far from good, at least from a certainty standpoint. Yes they have depth, which is what makes a guy like Martes expendable. Quintana completely changes the complexion of their rotation and makes them a much better playoff threat. IMO, the addition of Q would put them neck & neck with Boston & Cleveland. They already project better than Cleveland, even with no bounceback from Keuchel and average seasons from McHugh. Until one of those guys flops, or McCullers gets hurt, they don't really need Q.

QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Mar 24, 2017 -> 11:53 AM) I still don't know what the Astros are doing. Springer & Reddick are under control for four more seasons. I get Tucker would be nice to slide in alongside those guys, but they'll have plenty of other internal options to fill that spot in the coming years. And Martes has a huge ceiling but also has huge question marks. I just can't fathom how those two guys would be off limits for a legit TOR starter that fits in perfectly with their competitive window. I really think Luhnow will regret not addressing this need during the offseason because the cost of elite pitching will only go up as we get closer to the deadline. Their rotation is already good and they have decent, quality depth.

With Bowden I assume its crap and work from there.

Lopez/Giolito/Kopech/Moncada/Fulmer sent down

QUOTE (GreenSox @ Mar 21, 2017 -> 05:17 PM) That's right. Forgot about Holland. Easy mistake, he's been extremely forgettable. Good thing there is that he isn't going to block anyone if they're ready come June. -

QUOTE (GreenSox @ Mar 21, 2017 -> 04:53 PM) Surprised by Fulmer; but I'm happy that they will give him additional time. I guess the Rule V guy is starter #5. Q Rodon MiGo Shields Holland -
Now we just gotta get Rodon and Moncada out on "personal matters"...
-
QUOTE (fathom @ Mar 16, 2017 -> 05:24 PM) Seems likely the Braves have made best Q offer https://www.fanragsports.com/mlb/heyman-11-...pring-training/ They seem most likely. Potential others: Brewers - should be good again by 2018-2019 when they have minimal payroll and oodles of hitting talent. Doesn't fit the FO typical pattern tho. Phillies - similar, but their farm isn't as good as the Brewers. Hard to see this. San Diego - no clue, but they're weird Oakland - see above Other teams either don't have the prospects (Diamondbacks, Twins, Reds) or aren't really rebuilding, per se (Rays, Rox)

QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Mar 16, 2017 -> 10:16 AM) Do we want Jo Adell in this scenario? SS Brady McConnell? Heard a lot of good stuff about Adell lately. Gonna watch him closely.

Now Tom Murphy has a broken arm. Out 4-6 wks. This is really incredible.
-
QUOTE (SoxAce @ Mar 13, 2017 -> 08:33 PM) So can the Braves (whose system I personally like the most), but its probably not happening. To be fair, it doesn't seem like ANYTHING is happening now. If the Rox or Braves are somehow good in the first half, hey, who knows.

With the Tilson injury, i'll say the following make it, prioritizing out of options players: C Narvaez 1B Abreu 2B Saladino SS Anderson 3B Frazier RF - Liriano CF - Bourjos LF - Melky DH - Avi Bench - C Soto, IF/OF L. Garcia, IF Yolmer, IF Davidson SP - Quintana, Rodon, Shields, MiGo, Holland RP - Robertson, Jones, Petricka, Putnam, Jennings, Covey (swingman), Soto For a rebuilding team there's a fair amount of roster certainty here.

It would be funny and sad if the Colombian team gave Q what the Sox so often could not.

Yeah I would say that Brett's legs are not where the Sox wanted and they were sick of waiting and paying him. Good luck to him.
