QUOTE (joeynach @ Nov 4, 2010 -> 07:27 PM) Im actually more interested in Beltre. An awesome defender at 3B who bats with a high average, slugging percentage, and can consistently drive in runs. Plus hes prolly in the 2/24 or 3/36 contract range here. Something pretty good for the sox and Beltre in terms of length and dollars as a free agent. I agree & think Beltre might be the most realistic idea. Sounds like a better forum topic, we just can't draw free agents without overpaying. V-Mart is as good of an idea as signing Carl Crawford,B.J. Upton, Jason Werth ... last few years Tori Hunter, Bobby Abreu, Chone Figgins,Johny Stinking Damon, etc. And more unrealistic, trade for Colby Rasmus I think we should. Sign Beltre(good d-fense at 3B, big stick in the lineup), Sign Rick Ankiel & Melky Cabrera (rotating outfielders/DH's), Re-sign Paulie( solid realistic FA signing), Re-sign AJ(try him a 1B on some off days & DH a little). Plus we can allow Tank, Morrel to develop and fill in for injuries. This gives us tons of flexible line-ups & this is what Ozzie would like. Spending this amount of money would allow us to bring back Bobby Jenks, who I think will have a great year!!!

Change the ballpark dimensions to help our team. Imagine if we signed Paulie back & made our park more difficult for the opposition to succeed against our current team. These suggestions would achieve two things: 1. Make the current & future Twins team dread playing at our ball park. Make it easier for us to win the division on a yearly basis 2. Make it tougher for the Yankees during playoff matchups. Our ballpark will still give up plenty of homeruns during the hot summer days, but I think our team should benefit if we do the following to our current ballpark: 1. Pull the fences back to the orginal distance except have the left field fence taper on the pole (like fenways right field). 2. Make the Fence 10 feet all the way from Left Field ( accept Right Field). 3. Make the Right Field Fence 18 feet high. In Right Field we could put up a regular fence & then use plexi glass the rest of the way up. Any thoughts??

We will not get Carl Crawford, track record people. Kenny will make a trade: quentin, Floyd, (Teahen packaged w/ someone else). Lineup will be: J.Pierre LF G. Beckham 2b A. Rios CF C. Quentin DH A. Ramirez SS A.J.P. C D. Viciedo 1b J. Danks RF B. Morel * if Quentin is still here* Otherwise- andruw jones/ Mark Teahen With this team, we need to pull the fences back to the Orginal distance, & raise the height to 12 feet high from the leftfield line to rightcenter, where we should jack the fence up to about 25 feet high. Two purpose: detour Minnesota & The Yankees.

Trade Candidates for Kenny this offseason
soxfan-kwman replied to macsandz's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (mcgrad70 @ Oct 6, 2010 -> 10:55 PM) I'm looking at these teams in the playoffs. The White Sox are light years away from the quality these teams possess. You simply cannot get better with trades when you farm system is as woefully weak as the Sox. Reinsdorf has painted himself into a corner with this philosophy of non-aggression when it comes to FA. Until this paradigm changes by either Reinsdorf or a new owner (highly unlikely) get use to watching the post season as a casual observer. We deserve more but we don't demand it. We simply can't get FA quality players. We lost out on Tori Hunter, Miguel Cabrera, Chone Figgins, Matsuai, even an aging Vladimir Guerrero. The only way we can get quality players is the way we aqcuired Thome, Rios, Peavy, or Carlos Quentin (not so quality Griffey Junior, Manny). Albert Belle was the last stud we go in free agency. Hell, we couldn't even get an older Johny Damon. Free Agents just don't come here. My suggestion this year would be, bring back AJP, Paulie, & put Jordan Danks in RF. Also pull the fences at our park back to the old length, move the fences up to 12ft & jack up the right field wall to about 25ft. Start Danks, Floyd, Buehrle, Jackson, & Sales and crush Minnesota. See a later twinkies, no more homers for Kubel, Mourneau, & cheap homers to Mauer in Left Center. Juan Pierre in Left, Rios in Center, & put D2 in right field. TCQ at DH & Tank at 1B. -
Root for or against the Twins in the playoffs?
soxfan-kwman replied to VAfan's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Three and Out for the Twinkies is the only thing that would truly be acceptable!! -
QUOTE (Chet Kincaid @ Oct 1, 2010 -> 10:17 AM) I You know... these are the times when it would be nice to have a raging a$$hole on your team. I mean an Albert Belle/Vincente Padilla/Carlos Zambrano/Gary Sheffield type a$$hole with some balls that won't sit back and admire the twins so much. f*** that... 100% agreed. We need some a$$$$$$ guys who can hit & have some bite to them!! Our players may like the twins, but the twins don't like our team & they hate on our fans! Once again, I'm sick of hearing about what a nice team the Twinkies are!!! I don't agree with everything that the Hawk says, but my spirit towards the Twinkies is the same as his, & any decent Sox fan should think the same!! PS hate the twins, feel sorry for cubs (cubs are nothing, twins are a pain)

QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Sep 15, 2010 -> 04:24 AM) Bottom line is that Manny can probably still hit, but it was a desperation move, you don't bring a guy who is coming off an injury and needs to realign/adjust/call it whatever his swing when there is a month left to play. Sox don't have time for that and not getting us a DH to start the season or at the deadline is on Kenny/Ozzie. Agreed, this move a month earlier could have really been something. However, Manny wasn't ready. This deal is a lot like the Peavy & Rios deal of last year, too little to late. Last year we were to far down when we got Rios & when Peavy was ready. Manny still has a good eye, but has been playing in the AAA national league the last two years & still needs to get his timing back. Maybe he gets his timing back tonight & we win out all the games this season. One thing Manny still has is Confidence, so does Beckham, & confidence can carry you. Paulie has Confidence & after watching him hit a triple last night, anything can happen!! Confidence can be a self-fulfilling prophecy as those without it may fail or not try because they lack it and those with it may succeed because they have it rather than because of an innate ability. Confidence is the opposite of FEAR!!
-
I was wrong about Manny & the three homeruns, three strike outs. I forgot the golf balls & the batteries for Delmon Young last night, wish I could go tonight.
-
Unlike the 2004 Season when Torri Hunter knocked are catcher down & we did nothing about it, what are the White Sox going to do starting tonight? Maybe take Joe Mauer back into the on deck circle or maybe plunk Young or Span? I'm sick of hearing about Minnesota & what nice team they have. Forget them, it's time to set the tone tonight! No pressure on the Sox, were not 6 games up!!! We have nothing to lose & I can't wait to see MaNNY HIT THREE HOMERUNS off of Liriano tonight!! WHAT DO YOU THINK OUR SOX WILL DO TO GET THE SWAGGER BACK? Who will pluck Young first? My guess, Johny. My second guess would be Tony Pena, I think he has some fire in his belly!!
-
At one point this year our team was in first place & Jim Thome has been in Minnesota all spring & summer. Our bad start killed us so far, not Jim Thome. 1. Jake Peavy started out slow, heated up, & then getting hurt didn't help us. 2. Losing to many games to Kansas City & Cleveland this year hurt us.
-
QUOTE (CQMVP @ Sep 6, 2010 -> 09:42 PM) Not only would Thome have been an upgrade for the Sox at DH, we would have kept him AWAY from the Twins, which I think is the bigger picture that most people here are missing. If Thome isn't on the Twins, the Sox are probably in first place right now. Not bringing back Thome could turn out to be the deciding factor in us not winning the central. Especially if the Twins squeek it out by a game or two. I'd say it's a big deal, but whatever. Agreed!! Without Thome in Minnesota and/or still here, we would be in first. I love Jim Thome, but would have been fine bringing him back or not. What I don't understand, is why we didn't sign him back as soon as we heard the twins were interested (that is not up for debate, that's a fact he was going to sign here or Minnesota). Plus as soon as I heard the Twins had a short porch in Right Field in the new stadium, I really wanted him back. Will probaly tie with the Twins & have to play 163rd game. Hopefully Thome doesn't do as well as his last game 163!

Is he going to wear #66?? That would be kind of funny!! Good luck Manny & welcome to the Sox!!

QUOTE (Frank_Thomas35 @ Aug 27, 2010 -> 10:34 PM) Anyone find it odd Manny has been out of th lineup 2 days in a row? I've worked all night so maybe this was explained. KW probaly has a deal already done, but he wants to stick it to Big Frank on his day, and what better way then the day his number is retired (In comes Manny). Stealing Big Franks Thunder!!

QUOTE (buckweaver @ Aug 24, 2010 -> 12:14 PM) Or perhaps..."Watch Manny inject some life into the White Sox!" We become the Yankees when we sign a known cheater because it may help us win. As a 46-year-old lifelong Sox fan who grew up listening to my grandfather's stories of Babe Ruth playing at the old palace, I implore Kenny Williams not to bring Manny Ramirez to the White Sox. As I posted in another thread a week or two ago (and that's saying something because I don't post very much), I consider Manny as the poster child for all of major league baseball's ills: greed, steroids, lazy, selfish. No debate there's blame for the steroid era abounding, but when you're injecting a needle into your ass or having someone else do it for you, it's wrong and you know it. So the blame starts with the players who did it. I honestly would rather miss the playoffs without Manny than be in them with him. If the White Sox bring him in I'm not sure I can call myself a fan of this team...and just typing that makes me feel as though I'm losing an appendage. And I would never watch the Bulls if Lebron came here either.

Last night in the 8th inning would have been a great time for Linebrink to drill Joe Mauer. Thome's homer made me sad, sad because it would have been on the concourse at the cell. It's time to move on and concentrate on the Orioles, Yankees & Red Sox & that west coast trip (Oakland & Anaheim). We can still win this division without beating Minnesota, but we must beat the Royals & Indians!!
-
I mean't to say, Go back to his original walk-up song! Go ahead & laugh, but I think tonight would be a good night to bring out the "The Outfield" classic & stick with it! That and Kenny should call a blackout tonight & always against Minnesota!! The Twinkies fear the blackout!!
-
QUOTE (hawksox13 @ Aug 4, 2010 -> 02:36 PM) I don't think we really want him to learn anything from Manny. How to be a terrible defensive player? How to use PED's? How to not hussle? How to grow huge dreadlocks? Well, that last one may be cool. "A thing or two", the guy is 2nd on the all-time grandslam list.(behind Lou Gehrig) Now I just feel wrong defending Manny Ramirez!!
-
I kind of hope we pick up Manny. He is like TO, put him somewhere new & he'll produce. Don't really like him, but he is clutch... Look what he did for a crappy LA team in 2008. Put him at DH & maybe let him play LF for the first 3 or 4 innings, once or twice a week. Plus, Tank might learn a thing or two from Manny!!
-
You know a guy by the name of Joe Crede batted 8th for us & gave our line-up a lot of clutch hits. I'm still torn, not sure if Becks should stay in the 9th hole.

QUOTE (Chet Kincaid @ Jul 1, 2010 -> 10:22 AM) Maybe he means that DeJesus doesn't believe that the Royals have what it takes to be a winning organization and he isn't happy playing with them? Pure opinion as far as Dejesus, as for "winning organization", sarcasism of Hawk
-
QUOTE (Chet Kincaid @ Jul 1, 2010 -> 09:03 AM) What would it take to get DeJesus though? Dejesus is a good call. He will add something & I don't know for sure, but he seems like a guy who wants to play on a winner. He appears to want to play for a "winning organization"

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jun 16, 2010 -> 10:27 AM) Danks, Buehrle, & Rios... Put it on the board!!

It looks like hitting to rcf & cf was helping Quentin last week. On Tuesday he went back to tried to kill the ball & hit w the the highest pop-ups that didn't make it out of the infield.
