QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 10, 2010 -> 09:02 AM) Cheap young pitching = more money to spend on bats. Complete agreement!!! It used to be the team philosophy... Isn't that why we got rid of Jon Garland? Clayton Richards was just starting to figure it out.

Kenny is a gambler, if we win today & sweep the Cubs he'll stick with AJ until absolute latest. Besides, we play Pitsburgt & Washington after the Cubs.

QUOTE (hogan873 @ Jun 9, 2010 -> 06:13 AM) The Sox are finding new ways to lose. Last night it was a very rare implosion by Matt Thornton...although scratching out only 2 runs on a Kotsay (!) HR didn't help. Call it, ring the bell, throw in the towel. Make some trades and get us excited about the future. Thorton is like Roy Hobbs in the beginning of The Natural," losing is a disease". Eventually it got 2 him. Joking, but it does feel that way. It Thortons case, he isn't perfect & I'm not worried about it. I am worried & sick of Alexei not doing anything. Last night he cut off a ball thrown by Rios while the runner was tagging up( & moving to third.) He jumped up high & from angle it looked like a perfect throw & Rios had the guy. After the play, Ramirez looked around at all three infielders & none of them looked up. Bottom line he cannot make a play unless its a possible web gem!

You are Jerry Reinsdorf, you decide, who gawn?

Ozzie is a good manager and Kenny is a good GM. However, they need to revamp with what they have. 5 things: 1. New hitting coach or additional hitting coach (special assistant) 2. Put Cora back at 3b coach 3. Put Gordon Beckham at 3b for the rest of the year, Nix to Short, & Ramirez back to 2B. (I would say put Beckham at SS, but Ramirez would probably sulk & not help improve the team) 4. Make no trades, Bat AJ 5th. 5. Put Andruw in the field more often, let Kotsay play a more reserve role. -
Joe Cowley says our season is over: do you agree?

No team Leader. Quiet lead by example Konerko. Big Bullie AJ.(I love AJ, but just like a guy that b****es on a softball team that's not hitting, things get ugly) Kotsay not good enough w/ the sox long enough. Bacon to young & not hitting. Andruw-new to the team. Alex Rios -quiet like paulie!! . Visquel-to old. Carlos-too Carlos! Ramirez still trying to figure it out. Jermaine Dye had a presence & when he spoke people seemed to listen. As for Pitchers, we know Buehrle & Danks are pretty good. Bobby Jenks worried about being traded & not an everyday player. My biggest question, & I don't Know for sure but Peavy seems to be a ONE MAN WOLFPACK. I think he needs to add some guys to his pack. Pierre would probaly be the best canidate, by he's not w/ the sox that long. Short of trading Carlos Quentin for Aaron Rowand we need to have some form fellowship & comradery!! Ya leadership isn't going to help a team that isn't any good, but I hear all the time about how good we should be!! -
I think Beckham should go back to third, or move to SS. Ramirez should go back to 2B. I'm not saying forever, but we need something to shake things up. Put Nix at Short for a week, it's not like we could play worse. In '08 Ozzie moved lineups around & it seemed to help. Maybe put Visquel at 2B to for a week & leave Ramirez at SS, something to shake it up. Back to Beckham, he's doing better, but at third he helps by gaining momentum at times by making a good play. As oppose to Teahen (who seemed to be hurting for awhile) losing momentum or giving another team momentum. Making good plays at third like Joe Crede used to do can help a team a lot and I think Beckham can do that. Look what Longoria did last week against us. It can help out the same way Paulie does when he pulls another hopper out of the dirt from Ramirez!! I'm rambling, but my point is something is off & something has to be done! Broken record, but this team is better & Ozzie needs to figure out what to do. (ex. Let Cora do the lineup for the next week, something!!) Not that Ozzie, needs to be removed or anything like that. Sometimes people out of the loop or pulled back a bit might have an idea that might work. Long story short- 2008 AJ moved to the 2 hole & things turned around. We need a 2010 version of that!

Starting this week TCQ and Bacon should try to slap everything to right field. Although Bacon is really starting to hit good. June 1st- 15 home games, 9 AAA away games, & 3 against KC!!

You know Jordan hasn't said that much lately. It's probably something little Jordan mentioned &, D-Wade trying to make it a big deal. D-Wade is obviously staying in Miami & hoping he can convince Lebron to join him. Other then staying in Cleveland, which I think Lebron is ready to leave, playing with D-Wade, or D-Rose, Noah, & Company are the best options!! With "Lebron's Team" following the Jordan blue print, I see no reason why he wouldn't come to Chicago. He can open up Jordan's Old Restaurant, call it LBJ-6, he can take Oprah's Water Tower Place, & he'll be all set!!

QUOTE (docsox24 @ May 1, 2010 -> 11:36 AM) he was with frank too Big Frank is the biggest jerk in person. I saw him in Vegas before too, 2004 & he was on crutches, & he wouldn't take 10 seconds to take a picture... What a Dumb Idiot Careless person King of the Walks!!! When I saw him in 2004 it was still in season & couldn't be anymore stand-offish. Like I said, he was on crutches & apparently doing rehab out in Vegas. Of course during the 2005 season when he could no longer play, he was in the dugout & on the bus with the team. I'm so happy this entitled --- ---- never got to play in the World Series! That guy has something wrong with him. He just can't take the time to be a decent guy. I've seen him blow fans off after the games in the parking lot time, after time. This guy could have this city love him, but he just can't for whatever reason!!! He must still be bitter about the 2000 playoffs & the 0-13 he hit in three games against the Mariners.

he got a couple of walks last night & a nice hit later in the game last night but Beckham is hitting different...Beckham has widened his natural stance & swing. I'm not saying Greg Walker is to blame, but someone should tell him to start with his feet closer together. Watch tonight, he takes a practice cut with his regular swing & then he moves into the batters box with his legs bent & almost pigeon toed. Anyone else notice?

Cold Bats- now the psyche of the players is starting to effect the fielding. The team started off pretty good defensivley and we played a lot of close games to start the year. Now the domino effect or snow ball effect is starting to set in. Greg Walker, like any hitting coach probaly helps some guys & doesn't help others, but that is not the stem of the problems as far as hitting goes right now. In my opinion I think on top of defense, the problem can be solved scientifically. The answer is the COLD BATS!!! I Cold bats never help in softball or baseball. The sox need to keep the bats in a heated area during games. I went to the game Tuesday, Wednesday, & skipped going last night. I did notic that the bats are stored in the racks that are exposed to the elements. And sure, we played well on Tuesday, but last night & wednesday we did not. I noticed that Andruw Jones hit an absolute bomb, & he was probaly in the hitting cage area keeping his bat out of the elements. It sound like a little thing, but baseball is a mental game and any advantage shouldn't hurt. Any how, I think it would help Carlos & Gordon from over swinging and others. In the case of the Rays, they have just been hot in general so pyschology they have the advantage. Bottom line, I think the sox need to keep the bats in a bat warmer or in the clubhouse, not in a cold bat rack. Any thought?

Kenny Williams is Calling for a Blackout for Opening Day
soxfan-kwman replied to whtsox13's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Opening Day is Opening Day. Black outs should be reserved for Big Games, maybe Opening Night would be more appropriate. The sea of black works much better during night games!! -

QUOTE (flavum @ Jan 27, 2010 -> 01:22 PM) Those sites just transfer guys over with their old number. He's wearing 17. This is the only place to check: http://chicago.whitesox.mlb.com/team/roste...ws_toolbar_team Our manager is #13. We have Luis Aparicio#11, Minnie Minoso#9. That is crap. Jermaine Dye is still on the roster. I know white sox MLB is the place to go, but check the Yankees. Granderson isn't #28, he's #14!!!!!!!!!!!

Omar Vizquel # 13, Per FOXSPORTS

Boy, could FOXSPORTS put less effort into updating our payroll & jersey numbers. They are off 20 million on the payroll & they have Pierre as number 9. Maybe someone could check retired sox numbers before they put a number next to guys name... It's not the Yankees or Red Sox so go figure!!! De Aza has Apparcios #11 too!! I don't complain much about East Coast Bias, but thats pathetic

QUOTE (La Marr Hoyt HOF @ Jan 22, 2010 -> 01:22 PM) Juanny Damon Damon can play DH, LF, & CF. Bat him second, & we have a team faster with some pop. Downside, potentially the 2 worse outfield arms in baseball (Pierre & Damon).

Andruw Jones in the Best Shape in a Decade?
soxfan-kwman replied to Steve9347's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (Ranger @ Jan 21, 2010 -> 12:32 PM) I think this is a possibility worth exploring, but not because of wanting to keep Kotsay out of the lineup. If they felt that doing something like this would keep quentin healthier, I'd be all for it. The only concern with having Quentin as a primary DH is that I'm not sure it's the best thing in the world for him to go straight to the bench after an AB. It might do a guy like him some good to get his butt back on the field after a strikeout so he can forget about it. I don't know that they want him stewing on the bench for 3 innings until he comes up to the plate again. I agree, TCQ sitting on the bench thinking about each at bat for 3 innings may not be productive. -
What will Freddy's record be this year? My guess would be maybe 10-13 victories. If he is super healthy 14-15 games. Prediction: 12-9
