Harper to Phillies 13yr/330 mil
Reinsdorf I believe was quoted saying I don't think we'll get Harper or Machado. That was during the winter meetings. We have the money and the fact that nothing has been said, other then the token "he wants to play for the Yankees" , "he wants to play for the Dodgers", " he wants to play for the Cubs" makes me optimistic. Harper is a different kind of guy. I think he likes the nemisis role . Meaning, I believe he would love to play against the Cubs and be their nemesis for years. Or maybe the Mets and play against the Yankees. If you watch the YouTube video on him Bryce Harper Begins, 2 things popped out to me. First thing, he is from a blue collar family and he works hard! Second thing, he has a huge chip on his shoulder & loves to be booed! He feeds off being the bad guy. Man he would be the perfect White Sox player!!

Chris Sale does not have bones in his body, defies physics
Strength + Flexibility = Velocity Mark Prior was on steroids & that is how a guy with perfect mechanics breaks down. Too much strength, you lose flexibility.

Adam Dunn appears to be back!
For Ricky Bobby, I mean Adam Dunn you go 4 years $30 mil Year 1 -$9/$8/$7/$6. Decent protection for Abreu. Shake & Bake!!

Who is Your Favorite Sox Player Playing for Other Team?
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Feb 24, 2014 -> 09:10 AM) Mark Buehrle is one of my all-time favorite White Sox players. He is one of those guys who broke pretty much every stereotype when it came to MLB and pitching. His personality was one of the most memorable of any guy I have ever seen in a Sox uniform. He is a guy you can't help but root for. Agreed!!! Love Buehrle!!!

Sox should trade for Samardzija
QUOTE (winninguglyin83 @ Dec 17, 2013 -> 03:45 PM) I thought he grew up a Sox fan. Yes he was a sox fan growing up. Imagine having to play for the Cubs, coming to the Sox, & now, not having to hit either. Change of scenery, a haircut, & some time with Coop could make him into real good pitcher for the sox.

Sox should trade for Samardzija
Chris sale as our number 1 & Samardzija as our number 2, this would make us a competitive team. If the new young guys are decent, we could contend faster then some people would expect. I'm not big on getting players from the national league, but I'm sure Cooper can probably turn Samardzija into Cy Young candidate. At least he can keep him interested in playing. Any thoughts what we would have to give up?

Floyd Signs W/Braves (1yr deal)
We need to sign Gavin back, he is a proven MLB pitcher. He has the best record against the Tigers. He logs the innings & we need legit right hand starters. Other then the Tommy John, he has been pretty injury free. I hope Hahn gets him back. I could see him & Danks having good bounce back years. Plus. I heard he' s ahead of schedule & should be ready for opening day. Also I heard the sox have not checked on his progress or haven't contacted him. If that's true shame on the sox.

Why Not Cano?
It would be a good thing. A lot of merchandise sold after Beyonce & Jay Z start supporting the sox. Maybe it could really get the Sox brand the pick up we've been looking for. First we get a catcher. Then move Beckham back to third & get rid of Dunn. Could make the Sox legit contenders. Cano is an everyday player & a super star.

Ryan Braun
I Like the trade. If he hits nobody will care. I'd say Dunn & Danks. The Brewers have to eat one year of Dunn & they get a lefty who can pitch in the NL for sure. That would give us one less lefty starter & more pitching balance. With Detroit getting rid of another Lefty bat we need more right hand starting pitchers. If we make that trade we can then sign Dan Haren for 2 years, re-sign Floyd for 2 years, & maybe sign Salty. With Braun only makes 10 mil next year, & 12 mil the following before his salary goes up to 19 mil in year 3 that would allow us to sign some more guys. Sale Haren Quintana Floyd Santigo Not bad? 1 De Aza 2 Garcia 3 Braun 4 Abreu 5 Salty 6 Vieciedo 7 Semien 8 Beckham 9 Ramirez

Gavin Floyd update
If healthy 4-5 million a year for 2 years. He's your proven 4-5 pitcher, plus one of the other righties has to step it up. Better value then getting a free agent righty. Plus, I heard he's already throwing & should be ready. Bottom line, money saved by signing Floyd helps us sign some more LH hitting.

White Sox 11th most valuable franchise, $960 million
Notice the Sox are ranked 24th in attendance, but 2nd in parking revenue!! Some places don't even charge for parking. When I went to Tampa to see the sox they gave us free parking for having 4 adults in our car. Bottom line the sox should give discount for a full car!! It would add attendance & concession money.

2014 Outfield
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Oct 8, 2013 -> 11:31 PM) I'll stick with Malcolm Gladwell, lol. Well....there are four players on the Rays roster (none of them are superutility guys like Sean Rodriguez or Elliot Johnson) we could definitely take serious looks at. 1) Fernando Rodney on a sign and trade move, especially if we deal Reed...or just because he might not get a contract as a closer the way this season is ending for him 2) Matt Joyce as a 4th outfielder or possibly they could try him at 1B as a cheap alternative to other more expensive firstbasemen on the market....or maybe Viciedo moves to 1B and Joyce is your leftfielder...he ended the season in such a funk he'd be cheaper than Beckham probably 3) Jose Molina as back-up catcher/veteran presence 4) James Loney Matt Joyce would be a good 4th outfielder. Also I think Hahn is pretty sharp. In saying that I hope he picks up as many left handed batters as possible. That and more switch hitters. We need guys to get on base, & lefties are a closer to 1b. Sounds simple, but we had 2 lefties all year & one struck out more then he should. Plus the fact that Detroit has all stud RH pitchers, that should be a no brainier. Even if you had 7 LH batters batting .230, should be able to give Detroit some problems. Loading up on Lefties occurred to me while I watched what Oakland did by taking Detroit 5 games, two reasons good pitching & having tons of Lh batters. 7 GUYS batting lefty against Detroit. That being said, moves like picking up a Matt Joyce, a Luke Scott & continuing to load on pitching should be the sox philosophy. That & getting guys to play multiple positions like the Rays do. Long story short Tampa Rays-Oakland A's hybrid.

Grady Sizemore worth a flyer?
Hermie can keep him healthy!!!

AJ Pierzynski Appreciation thread
Joe, Row, & Pole !!! Thanks for 05!! The Polish Prince will be missed.
-
Uribe?
We should add Punto, I heard the Dodgers are trying to move him. Also Uribe would be ok to have as a back-up SS, 2B, & 3B.
-
How much are you willing to offer Josh Hamilton?
6-7 years Hermie will take care of him, plus he won't be playing in the Texas heat for 81 games a year. We won't get him, but imagine if we could have gotten Thome, Griffey, Manny, or another big stick at the age of 31. With Adam Dunn & Paulie!!!

How much are you willing to offer Josh Hamilton?
Hamilton at the Cell, that would be legendary !!!

Rick Hahn the new GM
Hope he gets Lillibridge back & dewayne wise for speed n versatility. Maybe he'll get a stud pitcher too. Perhaps King Felix & Sale could be a good start to the rotation for next year.

how would YOU fix the sox attendance woes?
Fact is since 2005 prices have gone up. Supply and Demand. My World Series Parking pass was $15 in 2005. $20 is a easier to stomach then $23/$25 per game. I like the moves they are making. Bill Veck always had the philosophy of getting the fans in the park & I think they are going in that direction.
