  1. QUOTE (BFirebird @ Jul 30, 2010 -> 12:11 PM) I don't get this trade at all. Can someone explain the benefit to this trade...because I don't see it at all. there is none
  2. QUOTE (IceCreamPants @ Jul 30, 2010 -> 11:50 AM) Well than I will f***ing ban you because I am a tuff ass admin....then I will feel bad about it and let you back a few hours later!!! I think my fiance would like it if you banned me so then i could help her more with the wedding planning!
  3. QUOTE (chw42 @ Jul 30, 2010 -> 11:46 AM) The first, second, fourth, and fifth proposals are out dreams IMO. lind and marcum is also a dream
  4. QUOTE (TitoMB @ Jul 30, 2010 -> 11:32 AM) The good news is: I have two seasons of Dexter to keep me tied over til something big breaks. this last season was fantastic!!
  5. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 30, 2010 -> 11:18 AM) And everything, and I mean everything, I've heard/read suggests the exact opposite. The best example is him being in the first Peavy deal last year and then KW pulling his name out of the one that actuallyhappened they do have him rated very highly internally. I heard #2 starter
  6. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 30, 2010 -> 10:38 AM) doc, hearing anything? I tried but I think they are way too busy right now to talk to me!!
  7. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jul 30, 2010 -> 08:33 AM) I'm not really sure what those stats mean, but I hope they translate to: "Edwin Jackson sucks". Cause thats the truth. I am only half way through reading all these posts but I am pretty sure this is going to be my favorite...
  8. QUOTE (Kalapse @ Jul 30, 2010 -> 08:26 AM) Still waiting for that awesome fastball to translate into something more than a league average to slightly below average K/9. still waiting for farnsworth's awesome fastball to translate into something more than a drunk
  9. QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Jul 30, 2010 -> 08:17 AM) I'm gonna go ahead and ask how is Edwin Jackson an upgrade over Freddy Garcia. Thanks in advance. hes not and at 8.3M he is insanely overpaid I dont think kenny is this dumb
  10. QUOTE (ptatc @ Jul 29, 2010 -> 02:52 PM) I don't think the Sox think he isready for full time duty, whether it be because of Ks or defense or whatever, so they limiting his exposure. He was really the only viable option when they lost Teahen. But if you never let the kid see a RH pitcher, his skills are just going to diminish against them.
  11. QUOTE (Kalapse @ Jul 29, 2010 -> 01:29 PM) He isn't really an OF anymore. Is he a hitter anymore? Why can't they play Dayan against a RH? Makes no sense to turn a kid into a platoon player at 21.
  12. QUOTE (2nd_city_saint787 @ Jul 29, 2010 -> 10:23 AM) What about Adam Lind guys??? LH power hitter, I'd love the move. Luke Scott would be awesome too. Lind would be great but Jays have no reason to give him up
  13. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 29, 2010 -> 10:08 AM) I'd say no thanks to Downs based on what Toronto is asking for. With Thornton, and to a lesser extent Theets/Sale, another lefty in the pen is probably the last thing we need. agreed
  14. QUOTE (LVSoxFan @ Jul 28, 2010 -> 02:30 PM) Hmm sounds kind of lame. As one of those el guys who would be the target of something like this, sounds like it's missing the mark. I'd just go to the Bullpen in that case. Especially for those prices. I was excited to check out the new Cork & Kerry but disappointed at how tiny it was and WTF--no air conditioning? At least on the day I was there. No thanks. There's a lot of talk about turning the area into a Wrigleyville--IMO it will never happen. If you cross over the expressway and just under the tracks their is a HUGE empty lot there--perfect for bars and restaurants, location-wise. However, you have to remember that the bars around Wrigley have a huge population that attends them year-round. Sure, some aren't half as busy or even a quarter, but they do have business. I highly doubt the area around the Cell has enough local business to keep taverns afloat all year. Cork & Kerry didnt seem any different whatsoever than Jimbo's. And there was no air so it was really fricking hot in there. I like Rocky's a lot more.
  15. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Jul 28, 2010 -> 10:06 AM) Why give our players away for nothing? Doesn't seem like we have to move anyone unless it benefits us as well as the otehr team because we are paying him millions to not even pitch in an 11-0 game
  16. QUOTE (joesaiditstrue @ Jul 27, 2010 -> 04:23 PM) Would you guys do this trade (and do you think the DBacks would bite?) Gordon Beckham + Daniel Hudson for Edwin Jackson + Kelly Johnson? You keep your Vizquel/Viciedo/Teahen TriPlatoon at 3B for the rest of the year, or until the playoffs, you get a left-handed hitter with a decent OBP & Pop playing where Beckham was, and you have a rotation going into the playoffs that's pretty solid, and your 2011 rotation would be pretty ridiculous, and you have Johnson locked up for 2011 as well Edit: This also allows you to keep the DH spot a swinging door between Quentin/Konerko/Viciedo or whatever versatility Ozzie wants 1000% no
  17. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jul 27, 2010 -> 11:55 AM) Anybody check it out last night? I went last night. It was pretty empty before the game and there was nobody in it after the game. It was basically a small concrete area with a couple of tent overhangs. There are a few tables and chairs, some TVs, and two portable stand up bars. They sell beer, wine and soft drinks, no food. It is pretty lame but I still like it to have an option to meet people. They also intend to open a restaurant there right behind the bar. It would be inside behind a class enclosed area. That sounds cool as long as it serves legit food.
  18. QUOTE (chw42 @ Jul 26, 2010 -> 06:03 PM) Or the Darin Erstad situation. Erstad and Kotsay are incredibly similar players. Both were once good at defense. Both played center and 1B later on in their careers. Both have a career OPS around .750. Both are grindy. And Ozzie likes both. Thats funny. When we got him last year I compared him to Erstad and jokingly said we better not give him as many at bats as we did Erstad. Little did I know this would become true. I want to hear Mel Gibson go on a rant about how much he hates Kotsay.
  19. QUOTE (spiderman @ Jul 26, 2010 -> 10:36 AM) I didn't hear it, but my guess is that he's probably using a combination of all the rumors combined with Williams' aggressive trades in the past. I heard it. To me it sounded like he was making a prediction based upon Kenny's past and Stone's belief that whichever team makes the biggest trade would win the division. He mentioned Dunn, Scott and Berkman as big moves. Then some idiot called in and asked him if he would consider taking the Cubs managing job. At that point I turned it off.
  20. QUOTE (bucket-of-suck @ Jul 26, 2010 -> 12:43 AM) It is not "completely ridiculous" to expect Hudson to step up and challenge hitters once in a while. If you don't think his performance today didn't hurt his trade value, that my friend is ridiculous. That didn't hurt his trade value at all. Sure he struggled with his location bigtime yesterday. Maybe he was afraid to challenge hitters, maybe he was nervous, maybe he just couldn't throw strikes. Rookies struggle with location all the time. Heck there were a number of games this year that Peavy had horrible command. From what I see Hudson has good stuff. Let's give him some time before we decide what he is ultimately going to be. That may take a year or so. Whether thats with us or not remains to be seen.
  21. QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Jul 25, 2010 -> 10:39 PM) Then why did they turn away from an agreed deal with the Yankees? I don't know, I thought the yankee offer was better. Montero over Smoak IMO
  22. QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Jul 25, 2010 -> 08:35 PM) Not surprised, and I wouldnt be surprised if some if not all of those people still have their jobs because they are good friends of Jr, KW, etc. Hell, for all I know KW knew about it but wouldnt make a strong enough move to stop it. KW was absolutely crushed when he found out about Wilder.
  23. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 25, 2010 -> 04:39 PM) tigers are done with...I'd say Twins are 50 pct likely to win ALC, Sox 40, and Tigers 10 i am going twins 60 sox 30 tigers 10
  24. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 25, 2010 -> 04:33 PM) But you know what, this roster got us into this position, so no changes are necessary! I wonder if they'll keep saying that if the Twins pass us up before July 31st. lucky for us the tigers suck or we would be in 3rd by then
