Adam Dunn Trade rumor thread
QUOTE (WCSox @ Jul 8, 2010 -> 10:54 PM) That's what a former Sun-Times sportswriter said five years ago. How'd that work out? So do you feel comfortable with the way the team is constructed now? Do you believe this team as it is has enough to win the world series? ...with the DH of Kotsay/Jones?

tigs sweep the twins...
QUOTE (daggins @ Jul 8, 2010 -> 11:44 PM) They're good, and they know they're good. They'll be in the race for Lee, and if they don't get him, they'll get someone. Their starters are really letting them down right now and they have to upgrade. That being said I'd rather be in first going into the ASB but that is contingent on the Sox performance. I'd bet my paycheck right now that the Twins will get Ted Lilly from the Cubs. Cliff Lee will go to the Yanks.

Adam Dunn Trade rumor thread
QUOTE (hi8is @ Jul 8, 2010 -> 03:45 PM) Larry Stone of the Seattle Times? hears rumblings that the White Sox, who just lost Jake Peavy to the DL, are at least 'kicking tires' on Lee. That would not be a surprise given Kenny Williams' track record. You can't keep winning games 1-0 and relying on 2 hit shutouts from the pitching staff. We need a bat. We need offense.

7/8 - The OC versus us.
QUOTE (chw42 @ Jul 8, 2010 -> 01:25 PM) Haren = stud. Hudson = potential middle rotation starter. x2. I would trade Hudson and Flowers for Haren and LaRoche right now if I could.

7/8 - The OC versus us.
QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Jul 8, 2010 -> 12:02 PM) Yeah I know you can't do it. But it just takes a lot of restraint to say no to that one right now. It's really amazing that there was actually talk of trading "Bacon Slayer" (when is the last time we've seen that?) straight up to the Padres for Adrian Gonzalez, and a lot of people around here and on the radio were saying no way to that.

7/8 - The OC versus us.
QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Jul 8, 2010 -> 11:26 AM) Good, then he should come in on the cheap. ...and a change of scenery would help PLUS he would have an advantage on AL hitters most of whom have never faced him.

7/8 - The OC versus us.
QUOTE (everafan @ Jul 8, 2010 -> 10:53 AM) A slugfest would be highly unlikely given that lineup - but they have been surprising me lately. BTW, Adam Dunn would be great, but at this point anyone is an upgrade over the ridiculous Kotsay/Jones situation. We'll take a LaRoche with a side of Haren please...

The Minnesota Twins are in 3rd place... HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!

Viciedo...
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 7, 2010 -> 11:23 PM) So has anyone made the Juan Uribe comparison yet? Dayan has the full body swing like Juan, except the ball just explodes off of Viciedo's bat. I can see the 40 homer talk with the way the line drives come off for him. I sure wish he had Uribe's glove. I like Viciedo, but he's a brutal in the field.

Peavy Done for Year; Marquez Up
QUOTE (Kalapse @ Jul 7, 2010 -> 03:27 PM) From DeLuca: Detatched lat for Peavy likely means he's out till Sept. best-case. White Sox will pursue starter on trade market. What? Why? Yeah but wouldn't it be cool if KW swooped in and stole Cliff Lee? That would be a kick in the sack for the Twins.

NBA Offseason Thread
QUOTE (SoxFan562004 @ Jul 7, 2010 -> 10:34 AM) who knows how he'll work out, but he has been a respected assistant for years and years and had at least one other team ready to make him an offer this year to be a coach. That's right. ASSISTANT. Why hasn't he ever had a head coaching job before? And so what if another team offered him a job this year. Does that mean that the Bulls just had to have him?

NBA Offseason Thread
QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Jul 7, 2010 -> 10:33 AM) First point, front office. Paxson should have been fired years ago, and Gar Forman isn't qualified for his job. That is a bigger reason they should be fired than this failure, pulling a rabbit out of their hat and getting one of the big guys would have been a job saving move more than anything. And how did they fail? They didn't get anybody. You can do everything in preparation you want, but if doesn't work, you failed. Pretty simple concept. BJ Armstrong would have been a better GM lol...

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jul 7, 2010 -> 10:27 AM) Thibbs hasnt even coached ONE game and you want him fired. Hilarious. Screw "Thibbs", John Paxson, and Gar Forman. What happened to getting an experienced NBA head coach? This is doing to be VDN all over again. Was Byron Scott even interviewed?

NBA Offseason Thread
QUOTE (Palehosefan @ Jul 7, 2010 -> 10:00 AM) I don't think there's any doubt, especially if Asik is joining the Bulls. Noah and Asik will provide fantastic defense in the post, and Boozer would be a great rebounder and solid scorer. Bulls would be able to compete with anyone in the East in my eyes. Rose Allen Deng Boozer Noah That's nasty. Why would Ray Allen leave the Celtics, the team he's won a championship with and feels confortable with, to come to the Bulls? To play with Carlos Boozer, and Luol Deng? And do you really think that this team would compete with Cleveland, Miami or Boston? I don't think so.

Ha. Byron Scott should be the coach of this team. I guess I'll restart the countdown until the day that John Paxson, Gar Forman and Tom Thibodeau are all fired. I wish Paxson was gone a long time ago. Hopefully this epic failure will finally push him over the edge.

7/6 - Los Angeles vs. Chicago
QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 6, 2010 -> 10:59 PM) Looks like we've found Lillibomb's kryptonite. Thankfully Weaver didn't make the All-Star Game, so Lillibomb won't have to face him in the game. Lilly says take your kryptonite and go....

QUOTE (BFirebird @ Jul 6, 2010 -> 10:36 PM) Just hopped on board...glad to see Peavy not too seriously hurt. Was Q a late scratch? TCQ late scratch with the sore knee. He's sitting in the dugout wondering where he's going to hide several severed heads and other dismembered body parts that have accumulated in his condo.

What the hell did Hawk just say? Oh well, it's only a STRAIN, thank the baseball gods. I say sit JFP until way after the all star break. Let's see some Carlos Torres.

7/6 - Los Angeles vs. Chicago
QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jul 6, 2010 -> 02:14 PM) That's great if we're doing a triathlon but it's not helping him at the plate. In all fairness... the guy probably would have some decent numbers if he had gotten more playing time and more at bats. If he were the everyday starter, his line would probably look a lot different. Maybe he'd be better served by getting DFAd and latching on to a team not in the race that can afford to give him more playing time... like the Orioles or the Pirates or Indians.
