QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Jun 12, 2010 -> 03:48 PM) OFFTOPIC: Daniel Nava hit a grand slam in his first major league AB on the first pitch. He's batting a million lol. -
Why hasn't Stone ever put on a uniform or actually worked for a MLB team?

Man I wish I could find that post from last year when I said that RIOS WILL MASH next year.... I'm telling you guys... he's going to mess around and play himself out of town. Somebody is going to take notice offer up a bounty of young talent that KW won't be able to refuse. -

Hopefully JFP feels more confortable in an NL park and he dominates. -
Guillen, Williams almost come to blows during shouting match

QUOTE (Greg Hibbard @ Jun 11, 2010 -> 01:39 PM) I don't think you automatically have major league caliber backups ready; that's absurd. My entire point is that building a roster by counting on projected production from those two based on a single great partial year each also seems a little far-fetched, especially in retrospect. We were sold that guys like Quentin and Beckham could contribute enough to this team offensively with their limited experience that dudes like Kotsay and Teahen would be non-issues. I thought going in we seemed a little thin, and I think I even remarked 'if either of those two has a bad year...' Well, here we are. The best GMs seem to have solutions when injury/performance issues come up...I'm really not sure KW has any in this situation, other than "dump, start over". I'm not a Gordon Beckham hater, but EVERYBODY here thought (and still thinks) that he is an All Star. I had my questions, but I kept them to myself. But I remember that the major question mark was the DH postion and Alex Rios. I really don't think that the DH is the reason that the team sucks so bad, and Rios has been raking all season. But seriously, NO ONE saw Beckham falling off like this. LOL I rember every thing was BACON this and SLAYER that. He was supposed to be a sure thing. And like someone said earlier, Quentin was almost the freaking MVP in 2008. That's A Rod, Justin Morneau, Joe Mauer territory. -
Kenny Williams should definitely stay. I love Ozzie, but if he can't straighten his sh*t out I'd like to see Dave Martinez from the Rays given a chance. Thunderbolt's signature about Ozzie scares the hell outta me though.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 11, 2010 -> 08:56 AM) Exactly. I know ownership is different, but still. I doubt Wal-Mart would hire you if you shoplifted there 10 years ago under different management. LOL oh yeah... I forgot all about Wells for Sirotka Didn't he play for Cito Gaston up there before though? -

I bet Kenny Williams wonders if he could have replaced J.P. Ricciardi in Torondo last year... -

It is a BEAUTIFUL day for baseball! -
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 11, 2010 -> 07:49 AM) THis is about the 4th time this has been repeated this week. We will NOT be getting a draft pick if AJ Pierzynski signs with another team. Why? Because he is earning $6.75 million this year. If you offer him salary arbitration, then his salary is likely to stay at that level or go even higher next year. No team is silly enough to pay him that much for an additional year at his current age. Therefore, no team in MLB would offer AJ Pierzynski salary arbitration, unless he hits .350 with 25 HR the rest of the year. No team will get any draft picks if AJ Pierzynski signs anywhere else. Okay got it. Thanks for clearing that up.
-
So it would be better to keep A.J., waste money on him when we're not going anywhere this year, and end up just getting another draft pick for him when he signs with another team next year?

Wow... He's actually admitting it. Man he's gone. I hope the language filter is working the day he resigns. -

Good God... Kenny Williams is going to resign if this keeps up. I wasn't believing any of this Kenny Williams v. Ozzie crap in the beginning, but it sure does seem like it's true now. It looks like Reinsdorf is going to have to make a decision. If KW leaves, I'm going to be pissed. -
Cardinals looking for pitching. MB to Cards?
chetkincaid replied to Mattchoo's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (DBAHO @ Jun 10, 2010 -> 12:26 PM) I was saying possibly in terms of how the Sox are going to sell MB if they want to deal him. As I said in another thread, I've got no doubt MB would go to the NL and produce very good numbers from the get go, teams in the AL (the AL Central in particular) have seen too much of MB over the years and know how he operates. This I agree with. I hope that MB can turn it around, but I don't know if he'll ever be a dominant pitcher in the AL Central again. -
AJ is not going anywhere... at least not right now. I don't think he'll have a problem approving a trade to a contender after his 10/5 rights kick in.

GAVIN!!!! KOTSAY!!!! BECKHAM!!!! -
I'm wondering if they'll even keep BP as a sponsor. The whole thing feels kind of dirty. The only thing that would make it worse is if all three games are played in the type of weather that we are having today. Good Lord I hope 2011 is different. I spent all of last winter counting down days until spring training... for this? Blah.

Who cares? I can't even give my Cub fan coworkers sh*t because we both suck. This season is really depressing.

The Suggested Moves / Who Goes/Stays thread
chetkincaid replied to chiguy79's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I know it probably won't happen, but I still want Kila Ka'aihue to be our starting 1b of the future. I think the guy has a huge upside if he's coached right. -
Maybe he was talking about his falling out with Wimpy
-
I hope I'm wrong, but it's hard to see Jake Peavy being as dominant here as he was in the NL. Maybe the Cardinals (or the Phillies) take him off our hands...
-
I'll probably get flamed for this, but if someone offered up a couple of nice prospects for Mike Caruso ERRRR... Gordon Beckham, I hope KW pulls the trigger. Seriously. He could end up being like Mike Caruso for real. Remember how popular Brandon Mc Carthy was? Didn't he land us John Danks and Nick Masset? That trade was unpopular at the time, but I think KW won in the end. Maybe it'll be a similar scenario.
