  1. Lol, the dog finally caught the car and doesn't know what to do
  2. Sure, but we thrive on things like that - it's something that we can actually look forward to! In fact, can we update the site banner to include a digital countdown to I-Day?
  3. Almost the entire city of Boston is reclaimed waterways - all of Back Bay neighborhood was literally the back of the bay.
  4. I'm ready with the popcorn for whoever wants to enjoy this thread devolve into a shitshow once a certain few people arrive with their opinions on the 78.
  5. Yeah I'm cautiously optimistic that this is actually GOOD news for us. It's like filling the first home or shop in a new development - once one person bites, it makes the whole thing viable and others get on board. This will have the city/state fund the infrastructure that Jerry needs and gives the ownership team confidence that the whole region is going to be developed. They aren't left holding the bag hoping to fill the whole thing.
  6. This Vargas take has aged quite nicely given his recent turn for the positive.
  7. My lasting and defining memory of Harold Reynolds' "analysis" is when he predicted that Gordon Beckham would be a Hall of Famer on draft night.
  8. In middle school my friends were competing over whose dad's car was the most popular - the dad with the Honda Accord or the dad with the Toyota Camry. I tried convincing them that my dad's Oldsmobile Alero was just as good as their dads' cars. That's all we can hope to get. A middling sedan from a forgotten and now-defunct brand.
  9. With this organization, you get contract extensions for numbers like those.
  10. Nah, the White Sox way is to play the bums every day and bat cleanup for a week straight before we release them.
  11. Said this last week and I was assured "but he's heating up!" The back injuries, inability to hit a fastball, and now broken confidence have me really discouraged. Obviously really want him to succeed but my expectations are zero at this point.
  12. Personally I've long since soured on the '83s, so I'm glad this officially bumps them. Time to move on.
  13. Does MLB/Nike still have their "4 uniform combinations plus a City Connect" rule they implemented a couple of years ago? I know it doesn't impact us as much because we don't have many alternates, but that would mean: - home whites - road grays - black jersey and white pants - Southside former CC - Bulls CC Some other teams like Seattle and Arizona had to make some tough choices and dropped some good ones.
  14. I think we need to start lowering our expectations that Colson will ever amount to anything. 3B with back problems that can't hit a fastball? I've almost already written him off.
  15. This is not a limiting factor and not a reason to delay any a Robert trade. They could put Southpaw in centerfield and it wouldn't impact the trajectory of this team. Make the moves to make the team better in the future. The present is not a concern.
  16. I'm getting this surgery done on my right knee on Tuesday (a mildly complex tear and a horizontal tear). I saw the update and bragged to my wife that I'm basically a White Sox OFer, but she wasn't impressed.
  17. Also the "it's a business" stuff goes both ways - yes, he signed an extension and stayed here ... because we gave him money. I've also worked for a job that sucked but paid me. He made the decision to stay because it's a job and they gave him an opportunity to make more money. He did what he did, and he said what he said. I don't fault him.
  18. The Pirates were BAD bad throughout the '90s, '00s, and '10s. The Royals were BAD bad for most of the same stretch. The Mariners missed the playoffs for something like 22 straight seasons. MLB doesn't care about parity. They care about making money. We have a long way to go before MLB steps in and tampers with an owner's business.
  19. Oh those Rockies ones are really good. I like the Twins one as well. As a Boston resident, the marathon-themed ones get pretty tired and probably pretty confusing for everyone else that doesn't get the connection with the yellow and blue theme. Speaking of, I'm sure we'll get to see them again in two weeks as our Sox are in town for the Marathon Monday morning game again.
  20. Agreed, seems pretty lazy in its execution
  21. It's fairly obvious that this offense is going to struggle to put runs on the board, and that's before we trade anyone with a pulse. The 2024 Sox already flirted with setting the record for "times shut out in a season", still held by the 1908 Cardinals at 33. In light of that, let's have some fun! Let's count 'em out.
  22. But wouldn't that just be a shrewd business move, anticipating the sale? Buy up other shares at a depressed value to increase their overall value once the team is sold to Ishbia. Or better yet, buy low now and hold through the sale, with the expectation that the next owner actually invests in the program to increase their overall value. Sell in 30 years for f-you generational money.
