QUOTE (flavum @ Apr 30, 2016 -> 04:15 PM) Basto on fire. Three more hits. Unreal numbers especially considering he hit .208/.278/.341 between Kannapolis and Winston-Salem last year. He's 22 so young enough to be a prospect but he hasn't stuck anywhere defensively.

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Apr 27, 2016 -> 12:49 PM) Mason Robbins gets the cycle. That's the second Dash hitter to have one in 6 days. Prior to that, the Dash say it was 2,900 days since the last one. He was drafted as a shortstop, and he was... not good there. I have a funny story about that from sitting at a game next to a scout once. He was then moved to 3B, and wasn't good there either. Then the outfield. Now first base. He's a guy without a defensive home, which is a problem. If he can be competent in the OF at least, he's got some intrigue as a prospect. At first base, not sure there is anything there. I knew he had....defensive limitations. Looks like he has played every game this year at DH or 1B which isn't ideal. But Sox have a current opening at DH so....

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Apr 27, 2016 -> 12:05 PM) Lassiter another pair of hits. He's still reached base in every game he's played (though one game it was via FC to avoid a DP). He really should move up soon. Basto is hitting the world in A+. Also needs to move up at some point. I was feeling sheepish because I thought I didn't rank Lassiter but I doubled checked and he's in there lol. Great to see Basto hitting this well. He is only 22 and was taken in the 5th round so he has the pedigree. Where has he been playing defensively?

  14. QUOTE (Feeky Magee @ Apr 27, 2016 -> 09:26 AM) Brian Clark with 2.1 IP, 6K, 0BB, 0R. He's very interesting to me. 2015 at A+: 8.6 K/9, 3.84 BB/9, 67% groundballs 2016 at AA: 9 K/9, 0.69 BB/9, 51% groundballs He's not starting (although he has done) but he's doing about 2 innings each time out with Birmingham. I haven't heard how it looks this season, but I know last year he was working on his change-up as a third offering to his fastball-slider combo. The effectiveness of that pitch will dictate if he starts.

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Apr 25, 2016 -> 10:50 AM) That's one of those funny things about seeing guys in person only once or twice. They can sometimes be doing something unusual. I saw nothing but FB, CB, CH when I video'd him. You can see it on the channel. No sliders. Then he told you he wasn't throwing the change much later in the year. I think the Sox tinker with guys occasionally and ask them to not throw a certain pitch for an outing or two to force them to use others. Similar to the way they made Rodon not throw sliders one start in Winston-Salem I believe.

I also should mention Cooper does throw four pitches, FB, curve, slider, and a CH. He told me back in August he doesn't throw the CH much while relieving and the Sox could of seen something they like with it.

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Apr 25, 2016 -> 09:16 AM) More on Cooper in his profile, if you want to read it (some video links in there too). I was one of the people "on him", but even I didn't anticipate seeing him become a starter. My guess is, this is the reliever-working-as-starter to get innings thing, more than anything else. But that is ONLY my guess, I don't know that. If I see him when I go down there in June, I'll ask him. Something to note, Cooper was exclusively a starter in college at the University of Hawaii and was converted by the Sox to be a reliever when he began his pro career. I agree with Matt's guess that he is just getting consistent innings, but just food for thought.
  20. If Hickman bursts onto the scene this year, the Sox would have a fairly nice stockpile of young starters. Adams (19), Guerrero (21), Stephens (23), Danish (21), Fulmer (22), Clark (22), and Solorzano (19) just to name a few of the better ones.
  21. Lots of good stuff in there. Hahn definitely says all the right things you would want to hear from the leader of your organization. As a FutureSox writer, glad to see the plan is to keep Anderson at AAA for the whole year as I believe he will need the development time.
  22. http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2016/03/rick..._medium=twitter Rick Hahn speaks candidly with MLBTR about the off-season disappointment, prospect development, and his current roster.
  23. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Feb 29, 2016 -> 04:24 PM) Dan Hayes ‏@CSNHayes 2m2 minutes ago Team Abreu topped Team Frazier 5-4 at White Sox camp today. OF Daniel Fields hit a three-run, game-winning homer in B5 off Colin Kleven. Ah, I see our big off-season outfielder acquisition is already paying dividends.

  25. QUOTE (fathom @ Feb 22, 2016 -> 11:09 AM) Bad news for Carlos Sanchez. Here's your back-up infielder. I would be surprised...Sanchez can play more positions and MUCH better.
