  1. If the money and years were equal, give me Cespedes. But if the option is Gordon at 4/80 or Cespedes at 6/125 give me Gordon all day. I don't see a ton of difference between them. I guess time will tell once they both sign on the dotted line but I have a feeling Gordon will be the better value to his respective team.
  2. QUOTE (fathom @ Dec 28, 2015 -> 03:37 PM) Reds have very little to show for trading Chapman and Frazier Would of gotten a HAUL for both of them at the deadline. Now....not so much.
  3. QUOTE (blackmooncreeping @ Dec 28, 2015 -> 10:29 AM) With the current/rising market it shouldn't be that big of a deal to offer "a deal that would be record setting for the organization." That certainly shouldn't keep them from making the offer, it's just a reflection of the times. If you are going for it and think you need an impact bat to get you to that next level, you go ahead and pay the price. I wholly agree with you, it just would be very out of character for the organization to spend like that. However, with how the market for these outfielders is playing out, it would be a huge missed opportunity to not take advantage.
  4. QUOTE (Al Lopez's Ghost @ Dec 28, 2015 -> 10:09 AM) Well, that would be missing out on all three, right? 3=Ces, Gordon, Upton. Correct. Worst case scenario meaning Sox whiff/pass on the big three and decide to platoon Parra/Garcia. Though we should keep in mind that Upton/Cespedes/Gordon are all going to sign a deal that would be a record setting contract for the organization.
  5. QUOTE (Al Lopez's Ghost @ Dec 28, 2015 -> 10:02 AM) If the Sox miss out on all 3, you'll sense a lot of maxiaggressions! I just can't fathom that at this point with how the market is playing out. I think WORST case scenario is Sox go cheap and sign Parra as a platoon partner with Garcia.
  6. JJ Cooper ‏@jjcoop36 2m2 minutes ago Should say, I LOVE the trade for the White Sox. Traded 3 solid but likely complimentary pieces for solid everyday 3B.
  7. For those of you who are bemoaning what we gave up, I'll just say the Sox are traditionally very good at knowing what they have in their own prospects. It was becoming more and more apparent that Montas was headed to the bullpen and Micah Johnson has a great offensive skill-set but could not stay healthy and had a lot of defensive shortcomings. As for Trayce Thompson, over seven(!) minor league seasons, he is a career .241/.319/.429 hitter. Not a single person on this message board would of been crying if we flipped in July for anything of value. His MLB debut was great, but it was a very small sample size and it is likely he will regress heavily in 2016.
  8. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Dec 15, 2015 -> 10:56 AM) They've never been willing to deal those guys. That's been established. Hahn is on record multiple times saying NO ONE on the roster is untouchable and is usually answering the question in reference to Sale. I don't believe they would consider trading Q/Rodon for Frazier...but Anderson or Fulmer is another story. Glad to hear they are staying firm and waiting for Frazier's price to drop or looking for other alternatives.
  9. QUOTE (raBBit @ Dec 15, 2015 -> 10:04 AM) As much as I have enjoyed reading about the Royals and circumcisions, the talks with the Reds have completely cooled. The Sox don't fit what he Reds want. I think that's a good thing. For a lesser price, maybe Frazier makes sense, but this isn't going anywhere for now. Jon Heyman tweeting yesterday was a Reds plant to drum up the market. Nothing to see there. If this means the Sox are standing firm on not dealing Anderson/Fulmer/Rodon/Q then this is excellent news. There are better ways to upgrade the offense then dealing a potential cornerstone.
  10. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Dec 14, 2015 -> 04:02 PM) Cespedes to the Angels. Gordon to the Cardinals. O's resign Parra and Davis. White Sox sign Upton. +1. Hope you are right.
  11. QUOTE (Baron @ Dec 14, 2015 -> 03:59 PM) Cardinals? Yes. Which I find hard to believe considering they offered Heyward 200 million.
  12. Switch-hitter, good AAA #'s, some MLB experience...there is your 3rd catcher.
  13. Yeesh. Nobody is going to give us salary relief on this guy so forget dumping him and hope for a hot spring training/start to the season.
  14. I will be happy when he ultimately signs, because the (more) realistic Sox targets, Upton and Cespedes, will follow.
  15. Myles Jaye, acquired from the Blue Jays along with Daniel Webb for Jason Frasor, came in at #17 on the FutureSox system rankings.
  16. Dan Hayes ‏@CSNHayes 38s39 seconds ago On minor league side, #WhiteSox acquired LHP Will Lamb from Texas for RHP Myles Jaye. Lamb was at both Double-A and Triple-A last season. Lamb is a 6'6' 25 year-old who he had a 4.42 ERA between AA and AAA last season all of the bullpen. He was Texas 2nd round pick in 2011 out of Clemson.
  17. I'm holding onto the delusion that the holdup here might be contingent on the Sox getting something done with an outfielder, either via free agency or trade.
  18. QUOTE (Baron @ Dec 9, 2015 -> 10:44 AM) Meh I say like Mike Olt play it out at 3rd Matt Davidson and Mike Olt righty/righty platoon!
  19. Scott Merkin ‏@scottmerkin 29s30 seconds ago Virginia, USA Let me clarify from before: White Sox aren't trading Anderson or Quintana
  20. A possible name to keep an eye on....when I visited Winston-Salem in August I talked to several scouts from different organizations who LOVED Trey Michalczewski. The Winston-Salem roster was loaded but Michalczewski was the first name I always heard.
  21. QUOTE (nitetrain8601 @ Dec 8, 2015 -> 02:48 PM) What if the Sox were the mystery team? Would have to empty the system to get in the conversation. If the Marlins don't think Seager and Urias from the Dodgers is enough, Sox couldn't match that unless they included Rodon/Q.
  22. QUOTE (reiks12 @ Dec 8, 2015 -> 09:09 AM) Rick Hahn on MLB Network Talked about "untouchables", Chris Sale, Jose Abreu, and Jose Quintana Interesting note, while Hahn was talking about the untouchables he said "Carlos, err... Jose Quintana". Rodon is not an untouchable? Or maybe he has Cargo on the mind? Rodon has to be pretty close to that group. I am sure he would be the 4th name and was likely on Hahn's mind.
  23. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Nov 18, 2015 -> 10:23 AM) How in the world does this make Rick Hahn look bad? BTW, December 3rd is the day season ticket deposits are due. At least the first installment. He said "I want your definite plan" and Rick Hahn "could not give him (a plan)" on what direction they are going in. Instead of saying "we," he specially said Rick Hahn does not have a plan when being prompted by his boss. I understand it's semantics, but it certainly doesn't make Rick Hahn look good. EDIT: Kenny's comment will generate a lot more buzz than it actually deserves, but I just found it off-putting he would specifically mention Hahn and not address as the front office as a whole.
  24. QUOTE (daggins @ Nov 18, 2015 -> 10:06 AM) Less disconcerted by the comments than by the fact this sure looks like KW throwing someone under the bus again. This. I understanding anything said publicly this time of year is just noise/misdirection, but why make Rick Hahn look bad in the process?
