QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Nov 12, 2015 -> 09:27 AM) I'd love Andrelton Simmons, but the Braves are asking for one of Matz, deGrom, Thor, and Harvey. I'd figure the Braves would at least ask for Rodon and Anderson and that is way to steep of a price. We'd have to be at least in the discussion if we are floating Anderson +. Scouts drool over Anderson's tools.

Thank goodness Engel is already a White Sox because KW would be scrambling to acquire him if not.

For some perspective from a guy in the industry, Keith Law just posted his top 50 free agents list and Alexei came in at #47. He said that it was smart the Sox declined his option, and it could create a buy-low opportunity for another club and said he would give him a one year deal at 3-4 million. FWIW

QUOTE (LDF @ Oct 29, 2015 -> 10:35 AM) oops thanks for catching my mistake .... wrong plaer. it was I think you meant 2B Jake Peter, who played one game at third, two in the outfield, and three at a customary second base. My guess would be the Sox are seeing if he could be a super utility guy moving forward.

QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Oct 22, 2015 -> 11:31 AM) Was 2014 really an underachieving season? We had just lost 99 games the year before and didn't know what to expect from Abreu and Eaton, and with the rotation we were running out there it was pretty clear it was a rebuilding year. OK so three straight years? 2012 was the last time I remember feeling good about what Ventura was doing.

Dodgers lose in a game 5 of the NLDS and then can Mattingly while Sox announce Ventura back after second consecutive underachieving season...

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Sep 10, 2015 -> 12:20 PM) He makes the distinction because there is actually a Winston team, seperate from Winston-Salem. There is? I know there is a Salem Red Sox team in the same league.

QUOTE (Dunt @ Sep 9, 2015 -> 08:09 AM) Did anyone happen to read the Keith Law blurb on Spencer Adams yesterday? Yes, posted about him in comparison to what he said himself over in the Winston-Salem interviews thread.

Interviews: Carson Fulmer, Spencer Adams, Brian Clark...
royoung replied to NorthSideSox72's topic in FutureSox Board
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 8, 2015 -> 12:55 PM) FWIW, this is the exact same thing the Sox did with Chris Sale and his slider. Funny you mention Chris Sale and his slider, because Keith Law called Adam's slider "below-average." Which I think is what he thought of Sale's slider early in his career. -

Thanks all for the kind words! The whole experience was a pleasure, these guys were all class and very enjoyable to talk to. Also, as a follow-up on what Spencer Adams said about his delivery, ESPN's Keith Law noted when he scouted Adams recently that he is now pitching from the third base side of the pitching rubber as opposed to the first base side like he did in high school. Law says that is better for his deception but worse for his arm, as he is coming across his body more and "cutting himself off." Concerning, but sounds like J.R. Perdew and Spencer are aware of it and it is something they are working on. -
QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Sep 7, 2015 -> 09:31 PM) @philgrogers: White Sox 3B Trey Michalczewski, 20, finishes 2nd in Carolina League w/75 RBIs. A switch-hitter, he's driven in 171 runs in 318 pro games. Haven't read much on him. Anyone seen him or know about him? http://www.chicagonow.com/future-sox/trey-michalczewski/ http://www.chicagonow.com/future-sox/2015/...and-adam-engel/ Happy reading!

QUOTE (Dunt @ Sep 4, 2015 -> 02:39 PM) The fact that Erik Johnson or Frankie Montas could be our worst starter in 2 years gives me all the feels The system is as stocked with potential starting arms as I've ever seen it. Fulmer, Montas, Adams, Guerrero, Danish, Beck, Jaye, Lowry, and Clark all could easily end up as starters in various parts of a rotation.

QUOTE (LDF @ Sep 3, 2015 -> 02:59 PM) excellent call.... i really agree on needing to grow into his body... let him get way stronger and learn more about pitching. He is also still working on refining his delivery, the Sox are tweaking it a bit. The pitching coach in Winston-Salem (J.R. Perdew) is one of the system's best so it makes sense for him to spend more time with him next year. My interview with Spencer and J.R. is publishing tomorrow so make to check that out.
