  1. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 30, 2013 -> 02:25 PM) Skaggs and Owings would be a great start to a trade Davidson and Owens are blocked in AZ by Prado and Didi. So possible we could pry them loose for Peavy and someone?
  2. QUOTE (Baron @ Jul 30, 2013 -> 01:58 PM) Jon Heyman ‏@JonHeymanCBS 4m rios makes sense for #pirates. but deal is not close at this time, i hear. https://twitter.com/JonHeymanCBS Bummer. That deal needs to get done. Seems like Pittsburgh is the last team that wants Rios and maybe they have realized it.
  3. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jul 30, 2013 -> 01:46 PM) He was never good. He was 100% a product of Petco park. If you look at this home/away splits, he was bad away from San Diego. Still his ERA over three years in SD was under 4. Not bad. I'm not saying Clayton Richard is a frontline starter, that's why you trade him for a guy like Peavy.
  4. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Jul 30, 2013 -> 01:42 PM) I think most everyone consider Q better than a solid number 3 at this point. Santiago I would say has better potential than that. As for now I wouldn't label him as an innings eater since the one thing preventing him from the top of the rotation is his lack of ability to eat innings. I've always been in favor of giving Santiago a chance to start. Starting is the most valuable thing a pitcher can do, gives them the best chance to impact the game. It will be exciting to see if he can continue his success starting over the course of a season. Same for Q, this is his first full year starting. See where it pans out with a larger sample size.
  5. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 30, 2013 -> 01:41 PM) That is exactly what is being done from the sounds of it. Right. Didn't know if that was illegal at a certain time period or something.
  6. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 30, 2013 -> 01:33 PM) Then neither is Peavy. Because I would take his potential, growing stamina/endurance and multiple out pitch arsenal over Jake Peavy any day of the week, if it was finding a starting pitcher to build the rotation around (after Sale) in 2015/16. Put Quintana and Santiago in the NL West or NL Central and they'd nearly be Cy Young candidates. I think a good comparison would be Clayton Richard. The change of scenery did him well and he was a solid middle of the rotation guy in SD. Not a Cy Young candidate, but good.
  7. QUOTE (bbilek1 @ Jul 30, 2013 -> 01:30 PM) Quintana is definitely a 2-3 and Santiago's ceiling is up in the air. Lefties that throw 95 with his stuff do not grow on trees. If Hector learns to get lefties out he can really be a stud. Maybe not a #1 but definitely a #2. I think our definitions of #1's and #2's are different. I would venture a guess that just about any scout you ask would consider Q is a solid #3 and Santiago an innings-eater back of the rotation type of guy. Considering how we acquired those guys, that is unbelievably good
  8. QUOTE (GreenSox @ Jul 30, 2013 -> 01:30 PM) They're tweeting now that Peavy, Rios and Alexei all go to Pirates. "They" are unreliable tweeters. But heck, who is reliable? Certainly not Ken Rosenthal We'd have to eat some money, but if it means getting back Tallion and Glasnow...heck yeah!
  9. QUOTE (GreenSox @ Jul 30, 2013 -> 01:27 PM) Kubel? LOL LOL Phil Rodgers is totally oblivious. The trades he used to propose in his column were completely nonsensical.
  10. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 30, 2013 -> 01:23 PM) Remember when Hector Santiago and Jose Quintana were projected as frontline starters? Yeah me neither. They still aren't
  11. QUOTE (Jerksticks @ Jul 30, 2013 -> 01:15 PM) Interesting. What's the rule on that; before first pitch? Can't they just officially keep him in Charlotte and stash him in a Cleveland hotel room? Does it matter where the player is geographically? It's really a mute point, somebody (Peavy,Lindstrom etc) is going to go today or tomorrow but still.
  12. QUOTE (flavum @ Jul 30, 2013 -> 01:19 PM) https://twitter.com/ChiTribRogers/status/362276040808202240 No, Phil. Go away. Yeahhhhh he sucks.
  13. QUOTE (ptatc @ Jul 30, 2013 -> 01:16 PM) I don't think anyone said it was easy. Look at the Sox without PK. This is why it will take a player the quality of Peavy to get him. I agree with you, just not sold on Adams being a consistent middle of the order bat. His stats have been pretty average since his insane April. Pitching depth is always needed/valuable. More of a priority in my opinion.
  14. QUOTE (GoGoSox2k2 @ Jul 30, 2013 -> 01:07 PM) Rosenthal says to not rule out Dbacks on Peavy. Keep in mind Rosenthal has always been all over the White Sox when it comes to trades Love it! Two divisional rivals, Boston and now Arizona. Keep it up Hahn!
  15. QUOTE (ptatc @ Jul 30, 2013 -> 01:11 PM) There will be at least one pitcher coming to the Sox in any deal involving Peavy. Exactly. I am as excited about Erik Johnson as anyone, but beyond him, we have no pitching prospects who project as a frontline starter.
  16. QUOTE (bbilek1 @ Jul 30, 2013 -> 01:07 PM) Peavy and Alexei for Adams, Wong and a lower level guy. I like Piscotty. Maybe a one of the million pitchers the Cardinals have. I like their pitching prospects more then Adams, IMO. We do have Dunn for another year and finding power at 1B isn't the toughest thing to do. Starting pitching is always the toughest thing to develop/acquire.
  17. QUOTE (flavum @ Jul 30, 2013 -> 12:40 PM) https://twitter.com/jperrotto/status/362265767758151680 Hmmm Yes please!
  18. QUOTE (Knuckles @ Jul 29, 2013 -> 04:22 PM) The White Sox are telling other teams they're going to keep Peavy and build around him. -- OLNEY NO f***ING WAY. Negotiations have gotten fierce apparently. It's all misinformation. Hahn is trying to gain leverage.
  19. Buster Olney ‏@Buster_ESPN 56s The White Sox are telling other teams they're going to keep Peavy and build around him. Yeah right!
  20. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 29, 2013 -> 12:46 PM) Robert Murray ‏@RobertMurrayMLB 16m The #WhiteSox are asking for two top prospects and a 'lesser' player for Alex Rios, per @jaysonst. Don't be surprised to not see him traded. We gotta eat some money in his deal if that's what we are asking for. I don't see any way around it with Rios.
  21. QUOTE (Knackattack @ Jul 29, 2013 -> 11:42 AM) Why is it that not one media member can produce an accurate story about us this year? That's a good thing, when it comes to trade rumors anyway.
  22. QUOTE (southside hitman @ Jul 29, 2013 -> 11:39 AM) Jeff Passan ‏@JeffPassan 46s Sources: Deal for Jesse Crain to Rays not close to done. Talks for now. Good news for White Sox is teams aren't scared off by his shoulder. Good news? Also, looks like talks of mystery team were overstated or in preliminary stages.
  23. Jeff Passan ‏@JeffPassan 46s Sources: Deal for Jesse Crain to Rays not close to done. Talks for now. Good news for White Sox is teams aren't scared off by his shoulder. Good news?
  24. QUOTE (ewokpelts @ Jul 29, 2013 -> 11:06 AM) Who's "gordo"? Gordon Beckham
