  1. QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Jul 28, 2013 -> 02:26 PM) Dan Hayes ‏@DanHayesCSN now Nothing in @ESPNBruceLevine's story says Jake Peavy trade is imminent. Brought extra bags in case traded. A's still said to be in front. Damnit, Bowden. Getting me all excited. Thank you Dan Hayes. He's been the voice of reason during all this speculative bulls***.
  2. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jul 28, 2013 -> 02:23 PM) Jeff Passan ‏@JeffPassan 4m For Peavy, Sox targeting tip-top prospects. Interested teams figure price will come down and see Sox taking multiple instead. Need depth. That's messed up. The price should go up or be met at the deadline. This is why Hahn is waiting for so long, GM's are testing him apparently. Don't back down Rick!
  3. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Jul 28, 2013 -> 02:22 PM) Russell AND Choice or GTFo in my opinion. I'd love this, but nothing imminent, Bowden is going off an interview that Peavy is prepped and ready for a trade when it happens. Nothing new or breaking. But still funny he's going around asking the rumored teams if it's them in a trade that isn't going on right now.
  4. QUOTE (elwood5892 @ Jul 28, 2013 -> 02:18 PM) @JimBowdenESPNxm: Peavy about to be traded according to Bruce Levine ESPN Chicago and it's NOT the Cardinals, Red Sox, Orioles....could be A's??? Bowden is such an idiot
  5. QUOTE (Knackattack @ Jul 28, 2013 -> 02:06 PM) Hopefully it's an hour after the game and they package Peavy and Alexei to the Cards. With the prospects they have in St. Louis, if they want Peavy and Alexei, they just gotta get them. Somebody is Hahn's main target and the rest are just drumming up the price. I would hope his focus is on the Cards because their interest in Alexei as well. Kill two birds with one stone.
  6. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Jul 28, 2013 -> 02:01 PM) Yeah Dickerson is a 1B who's hitting 296 14 HR and 57 RBIs in AA. And Kingham is 3-2 with a 2.89 ERA in AA. I'd take that in a heartbeat for Rios. Hopefully Rangers and Pirates bid against each other and up the price. Though I think Hahn is focused on dealing Peavy right now before his start Tuesday.
  7. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Jul 28, 2013 -> 01:39 PM) Danny Knobler reiterating that Pirates have had interest in Alex Rios. And that KW has been scouting their farm system. Hopefully this could happen for like Dickerson and maybe Kingham? Honestly, with Rios's effort and power slump lately, add in his contract, I would be thankful for a B prospect in return. I don't know anything about Dickerson and Kingham, decent guys?
  8. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jul 28, 2013 -> 01:14 PM) Done and done. Would love that package, but names being discussed, not all together probably. It says something that the A's and their relatively weak farm system are the "favorites" when organizations that are rich on young talent like St. Louis, Boston, and Atlanta are involved.
  9. QUOTE (Cerbaho-WG @ Jul 27, 2013 -> 08:35 PM) If Ramirez is traded, one would imagine that the Sox would receive the SS he's replacing in return. Give Semien the rest of the year in Birmingham (or move him to AAA if he never cools off) and go from there. There is absolutely no rush with him. And he's been playing 3B for the past month anyway. Not sure if he can stick at SS long term.
  10. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jul 31, 2012 -> 01:07 PM) FWIW, DBacks AAA lefty Patrick Corbin scratched from his start today Smoke is Garza to AZ for Corbin and others. No Upton of course, don't know who came up with that.
  11. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 31, 2012 -> 12:47 PM) You could have said that all last winter and nothing was up. I think the people who think KW is planning on adding King Felix, Cliff Lee, Justin Upton and a few others to the roster are going to be a little dissappointed at 3 pm. The heavy lifting has already been done. I think he's looking for complimentary pieces some of which may be available after the deadline when more teams will be out. I agree, I don't expect a large move, it just wouldn't shock me. I would be happy with staying pat honestly, but it would be excited to double down again.
  12. QUOTE (Frank_Thomas35 @ Jul 31, 2012 -> 11:26 AM) It's Eriely quiet out there right now for KW on a deadline day. Usually there is some kind of rumors going around or talk out there about the Sox, but nothing the past two days. It's odd with KW comments after The Liriano trade. I can't remember the Sox being this quiet on a deadline since we landed peavy at the wire a few years ago. Either something is up or nothing it up lol I agree...nothing even brewing, no news, something is up!
  13. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 31, 2012 -> 11:04 AM) Made it to paragraph 4 before the obligatory Connor Jackson post. He has been crushing the ball since early June.
  14. QUOTE (sunofgold @ Jul 30, 2012 -> 03:11 PM) If we cannot get the Dumpster, then I want to see him NOT get traded. Then what? Couldn't the cuBS just release him? And then he could just decide not to pitch the rest of the year or chose where to pitch for the rest of this year. He could be claimed in August, not sure if the 10/5 rights apply to waiver claims. Then the Cubs would at least save some cash. Or they could work out a deal with him where they offer to qualifying offer and he rejects it so they could get a pick out of him. It's the least he could do since he's f***ing them over at the deadline
  15. I've heard that Dempster to the White Sox was a "hard no." But anything can happen I suppose
  16. QUOTE (Noonskadoodle @ Jul 29, 2012 -> 04:30 PM) MLB.com is reporting that the Rangers are not high on Josh Johnson at all. So with them not going hard at him & the Angels already with Greinke, maybe the Sox can sneak in? Rangers are not high on JJ because of the price I am afraid. I don't think the Marlins have a big issue with keeping him.
  17. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jul 29, 2012 -> 03:58 PM) That isn't enough. Need to add more. Maybe in a 3 team deal with Baltimore getting Floyd and giving up a top prospect plus another solid prospect. And of course Sox would probably include Addison Reed as well. Considering what they've turned down previously for Felix, I'd say our package would have to be, Reed, Viciedo, Q, and a pick of any guy or two they want that current plays for a minor league affiliate of ours.
  18. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jul 29, 2012 -> 03:55 PM) I don't know where you get the looks like. I don't think the Sox are trading Floyd, unless it is for an impact starter who will replace him (and obviously Sox would also give up some other guys). It isn't like they are going to turn Floyd for prospects right now. That would be pretty foolish. Liriano does give the Sox the luxury to talk about moving Floyd for a non-starter though (again, I don't think they'd consider moving him for another other then an impact player or two). Would the Mariners consider trading Ackley, given his struggles this year? Ackley and League for Floyd and Beckham? I don't even think I'd do that...Ackley may be younger then Beckham but I'd considering that pretty much a wash and trading a year and half of a starter for half a year of a reliever?
  19. QUOTE (Frank_Thomas35 @ Jul 29, 2012 -> 03:50 PM) gavin floyd's name has come up in other #chisox talks. at the moment, they are the most interesting team. 3:46pm - 29 Jul 12 The one man rumor mill lives on! If Floyd is going somewhere it better be for a substantial piece back, I would be nervous with our current rotation minus Gavin. But who knows, the Liriano move could mean the Sox are offering Humber or Floyd to the highest bidder.
  20. It is sounding more and more like it's not us, which is fine with me
  21. QUOTE (SOXOBAMA @ Jul 29, 2012 -> 02:51 PM) Matthew Huck ‏@matthewhuck White Sox about to get Brandon League for a minor league outfielder I dont know if this is true or not When somebody asked for a source, he replied himself and that it "made sense." Doesn't mean it's not going to happen, but it sounds like speculation from him.
  22. QUOTE (The Ultimate Champion @ Jul 28, 2012 -> 11:30 PM) So Mr. Floyd, it seems you're going to be the next hot topic round these here parts... What else is new? I feel like Floyd's been perpetually in a trade rumor since we signed him to that team friendly extension. It makes very little sense to trade Floyd with all the uncertainty of what Sale is going to provide down the stretch, the Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde of Humber and Liriano, and if Peavy can stay healthy. The only way I see us moving a starter is if we are 100 percent sure Danks is coming back this season and I think nobody is.
  23. QUOTE (BlackBetsy @ Jul 28, 2012 -> 12:08 PM) I think the package that the A's got for Swisher (Gio 8.4 WAR, De Los Santos -0.3 WAR, and Sweeney 5.9 WAR Post-White Sox) is better than the package the Marlins got for Cabrera AND Dontrelle Willis (Andrew Miller -2.8 WAR, Badenhop 1.8 WAR, De La Cruz -0.9 WAR, Trahern 0.0 WAR, Rabelo -0.5 WAR and Maybin 6.6 WAR) Of course, at the time everybody thought Miller & Maybin would be All-Stars (Maybin actually had a pretty good season last year) so it doesn't look similar at the time. But the Sox prospects have had more major league value by a score of 14 WAR to 4.2 WAR. With hindsight, Florida would have to have taken the Sox package. Crazy to think about the impact Cabrera would of had if he would landed with the White Sox rather then the Tigers.
  24. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 28, 2012 -> 08:15 AM) Volquez is not available, supposedly. It's a bit of overkill to acquire League or Street when we already have Reed, Myers and Crain. Not to mention the fact that it looks like Street might stay put. Vargas is a possibility. I was rooting for Vargas...but then I saw his home run rate...not a match for us.
  25. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 27, 2012 -> 04:00 PM) Zambrano's on the market...oh boy BUY BUY BUY! Oh wait, Ozzie's not our manager...never mind
