  1. QUOTE (GoGoSox2k2 @ Jul 29, 2013 -> 10:57 AM) agreed. Heyman is one of the most reliable in the industry in my eyes when it comes to these situations But no mention of mystery team...telling? What is the Rays bullpen situation??
  2. Jon Heyman ‏@JonHeymanCBS 57s #chisox are in talks on a deal involving injured all-star reliever jesse crain and the rays, as espn chicago reported Jon Heyman confirmed! It's red alert people!
  3. QUOTE (Frank_Thomas35 @ Jul 29, 2013 -> 10:54 AM) I buy Crain may be close but don't buy it with the Rays. If we trade Crain I still see him packaged with Peavy to Boston, but this could also signal we're trading Peavy to someone else other than Boston, like STL with Alexi (please) Definitely. The mystery team would be acquiring Crain, Tampa Bay just facilitating it.
  4. QUOTE (GoGoSox2k2 @ Jul 29, 2013 -> 10:51 AM) or in the article the source they had only knows the specifics of Crain going to Tampa so that is all they included I am going to guess that mystery team is Braves. No credible sources, just my hunch. They've had interest in Crain previously, tied to Peavy if deal is going to get bigger.
  5. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jul 29, 2013 -> 10:44 AM) In other news, my dick may be hard. Haha! Agreed, real deadline news!
  6. ESPNChicago ‏@ESPNChicago 2m Source - Chicago White Sox close to trading Jesse Crain Three team deal, Rays involved
  7. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Jul 29, 2013 -> 10:27 AM) That was a fun read. Ya gotta love the Rays offer haha. I honestly thought the A's offer was just as solid as the Pirates, I guess it depends on how much you like Choice.
  8. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 29, 2013 -> 10:17 AM) I think it would show they are desperate to move him, and if anything, encourage teams not to pay too much. The Sox need to keep the leverage. I think it will all be moot anyway. I would say have every indication you are planning on starting him, but ask for team's final and best offers Tuesday morning. If not what you have looking for, have him pitch and be done with it. If someone blows you away Wednesday before the deadline so be it. Sox could always trade him this winter to a team that doesn't want to part with the king's ransom that Price will demand.
  9. QUOTE (Frank_Thomas35 @ Jul 29, 2013 -> 10:04 AM) Someone like Cecchini, who I'd still be enaromerd with. I'd be happy with either Xander, Cecchini, or Iglesis as a starting point. I just don't think I want Will Middlebrooks he scares me but also could be a Hanley type thing were Boston trades him and regrets it for a while because of a slump NO MIDDLEBROOKS. I don't want your used good Boston. But yes, Cecchini and possible one of their big pitching prospects, Owens, Webster, Barnes, Ball, Ranuado.
  10. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Jul 29, 2013 -> 09:59 AM) No not at all. If Hahn pulls that off, I'll go absolutely nuts. And Rosenthal the Sox are not trading Chris Sale. GOOD Good for a number of reasons and it would absolutely ruin the Peavy market as well haha
  11. QUOTE (NCsoxfan @ Jul 29, 2013 -> 09:57 AM) Does anyone think Boston would actually trade Bogaerts? Honestly no. But they have a lot of nice prospects in a tier just below him that we are probably working on.
  12. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 29, 2013 -> 09:55 AM) Rienzo is. Johnson pitched last night and they pulled hiim after 2.1 innings/66 pitches. Just being cautious with him. First start off the DL, didn't want the pitches to pile up. Rienzo is pitching extremely well right now and age appropriate, he gets the call.
  13. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jul 29, 2013 -> 09:44 AM) Then you are doubling the risk. Not only is it possible that Bundy may have been a bust without surgery, then you have to be certain that he comes back 100% from the surgery which is not a guarantee either. Just don't see it as the smartest move given Peavy's value right now. Depends on exactly what other team's best offer is. If the A's offer Russell, Cards offer Adams/Martinez, Boston offers Bogarts, etc etc, then you take those offers but if Bundy is your consolation prize...that's a hell of a get.
  14. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jul 29, 2013 -> 09:16 AM) Tigers trade for Jose Veras from the Astros, so /thread Not a big deal IMO, I doubt we were gonna deal with the Tigs anyway. Unless we get a lot for Reed, I am fine with him sticking around.
  15. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jul 29, 2013 -> 09:18 AM) If Bundy is the centerpiece of a Peavy deal, then Rick Hahn failed miserably. I don't care how talented Bundy is. You don't give up the top pitcher on the market for a guy who just had major surgery. The Sox aren't trading Paul Malholm here. Not everybody recovers well from Tommy John either. I don't think anyone would be saying Hahn failed miserably if we landed Bundy, surgery or not. The track record for that procedure is quite good.
  16. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 29, 2013 -> 09:14 AM) Since Peavy is scheduled to start tomorrow, teams acquiring him should be motivated to make a deal before then. They could get an extra start out of him this season. Tough decision for Hahn though, do you set a deadline like Theo did, or put a spot starter in there and take the extra time? Personally I think you have to set a deadline, we have Rios and others to trade.
  17. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Jul 28, 2013 -> 04:03 PM) Jayson Stark ‏@jaysonst 1m White Sox haven't shown interest in eating any of Peavy's $ (close to $24M left). That & health were big issues for Atl, Bal, StL & even LA That is infuriating if true. JR would be just plain cheap if this is the case. We are going to be potential shedding Rios, Ramirez, and Peavy's contract and we can't kick in some money to get us premium talent??
  18. QUOTE (bbilek1 @ Jul 28, 2013 -> 03:30 PM) Love it. Buster Olney ‏@Buster_ESPN 5m Joe Nathan is being shopped by the Rangers for an established hitter, other teams say. More than just internal talks. That's not good for the Rios talks. Damn you Rangers
  19. QUOTE (staxx @ Jul 28, 2013 -> 03:44 PM) I'm thinking later tonight. Seems like things have really heated up today. Possibly, but seems like a lot of that news was bulls*** from Levine's article this morning.
  20. QUOTE (kapzk @ Jul 28, 2013 -> 03:40 PM) Just wish the suspense could end right now I would guess he goes tomorrow. Hahn doesn't want drama on the day he's pitching (Tuesday) but wants to hold off as long as possible.
  21. QUOTE (bbilek1 @ Jul 28, 2013 -> 03:40 PM) You have to think the Cardinals are seriously involved in the process. If they're not the favorite they're close to it. In the last couple weeks we have heard Adams, Wacha, Martinez, Wong, Kelly, Blazek and maybe more names that I am missing. From the other teams, I think we heard Middlebrooks who was later shut down. Please correct me if I am wrong or missed something here. It's not usually the loud teams that get the big fish. MYSTERY TEAM! Seriously though, have we heard one name from the A's? Yet they are the favorite according to multiple sources.
  22. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Jul 28, 2013 -> 03:32 PM) Martinez more than Wacha Would be happy with Martinez and Kong and maybe a lesser prospect. But honestly Adams, Wacha, Kelly, Rosenthal all are good too. Cards are stacked.
  23. QUOTE (hi8is @ Jul 28, 2013 -> 03:30 AM) On the bright side of things... The TPSM campaign is alive and well - we're almost in the #2 draft slot now!! God damn Houston is too good at losing! I want Rodon!
  24. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Jul 28, 2013 -> 02:14 PM) My thoughts exactly. Not overly high on prospect list. I think that would be reasonable I agree that 1B may be a position of need for us...but when you are 40-61 and your system is ranked near the bottom, every position is a position of need. Just go with best player available.
  25. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Jul 28, 2013 -> 02:27 PM) . Pretty sure it's that. It was speculation. Yep. Peavy prepping like it's his last day. No s***, when your name is going around in rumor mills and you've been around as long as Peavy has, you prepare every day like it's your last around the deadline.
