    7 K's through 5 for Danish. Also 2 H no BB. Like.
  2. QUOTE (TaylorStSox @ Jul 4, 2014 -> 10:45 PM) Don't battle the resident nerd. Dude has never actually seen a baseball game in his life, but he'll tell you all about it. Sabr and s*** like that. Soxtalk decided to make all the internet dudes mods. Jake has become the only dude that actually knows wtf he's talking about. Good job Soxtalk. Witesoxfan, eminor, rabbit and the rest of these lame ass douches have become the voice of White Sox baseball. Bunch of b****es. They will continue to project players they've never actually seen. Wow. How long have you been holding that in? For someone who consistently s***s on Gordon Beckham, you sure can't take it when people do the same about your guy huh?
  3. QUOTE (Feeky Magee @ Jul 4, 2014 -> 10:58 AM) Maurer seems reasonable. Any of those Red Sox names and we'd be absolutely laughing, enormously doubt the Sox would do that though. This. Those Red Sox prospects that were named are a pipe dream. I'd be okay with Maurer. His minor league track record is legit. Obviously needs to figure it out at the next level still, but that's what one should expect in a return for DV.

Jacob May doubles in his first AB. Dude is smoking hot this month.
  5. I love Marcus Stroman. Really wanted him in the 2012 draft. Stuff is stick. The slider is super nasty. Height be damned. Excited to see him pitch.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 27, 2014 -> 09:15 AM) I think it also jives with the fact that the Sox have now promoted him to AAA. If the Sox were worried about this, he wouldn't be there yet. He was sent back to Birmingham after the game.

QUOTE (Bigsoxhurt35 @ Jun 26, 2014 -> 06:55 PM) 3.2 IP 2 Ks And for the record, I sure hope Beck proves me wrong. Lord knows the system needs some pitching.

QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Jun 26, 2014 -> 06:36 PM) From what we've heard, Beck has been told to work on certain pitches. Like he would go starts throwing entirely fastballs, or entirely change-ups or whatever. His promotion may because he has done well improving these pitches individually, and now they are ready for him to put it all together and throw whatever pitches he wants, when he wants. Like taking the training wheels off, essentially. I'm just speculating though based off what we've heard. His poor strikeout rate may be a result of that. I've read this as well from the Soxtalk people, but I'm still wary. I need to see some evidence that he has swing and miss stuff on a consistent basis before I can get on board. I think people fell in love with the Chris Beck draft pick and are somewhat ignoring the actual numbers to this point.

QUOTE (Jake @ Jun 26, 2014 -> 06:17 PM) There's only one stat to look for with Beck - strikeouts. He'll never cut it if he can't increase the strikeouts significantly Yup. I still truly don't know what to make of him. Every now and them he'll pitch a game where it seems he's got the swing and miss stuff going. But then there are many other games where seemingly every single ball is put into play.
  10. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 25, 2014 -> 11:27 PM) Petricka is the more likely candidate. He has three pitches, more of a starter's repertoire. Webb has 1 1/2, and he's lacking life on his fastball, in the tune of 3-5 MPH. He's destined to become another version of Nick Massett at the rate he's going. Petricka used to be a starter. He couldn't hack it. There is a reason he's now a pen arm...
  11. QUOTE (Feeky Magee @ Jun 25, 2014 -> 11:21 PM) Lol. Oh well. I'm not gonna cry about close defeats late in games this year. At the end of the year we'll be wishing we'd lost each of these ones. This.
  12. QUOTE (Feeky Magee @ Jun 24, 2014 -> 08:31 AM) I'll be glad when he signs, a bit because he's really important for the future, but mostly so I don't have to see Boras spelled as Bor-ASS ever again. A thousand times this. I mean it's not even remotely clever nor does it sound good. Despite this, there are certain posters that repeat it ad nauseum.
  13. Jim Callis ‏@jimcallisMLB 9m Solid regular. He's better than I originally thought. @IIIWoodD: what do you think Micah Johnsons ceiling is? @WhiteSox Reply 2 Retweet Favorite
  14. Strikeouts for Beck. That's what I like to see.

QUOTE (oldsox @ Jun 20, 2014 -> 08:26 AM) They said the same thing about Wade Boggs when he was in the minors. Third baseman, no power, not a prospect. Is this post serious?
  16. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jun 20, 2014 -> 12:47 PM) AZL roster has the pitchers filled in so far. A couple new names on there so far: --RHP Lucas Shearrow as NDFA, from Rockford, has a pretty funny LinkedIn page if you want to see it. Pitched for SEMO, some JuCo ball, had TJS. --RHP Tanner Mendonca, 17th rd pick by MIN last year. Pitched in rookie ball for them, had massive control issues. Also at least some DSL guys on there already: Victor Done, Luis Martinez, Yelmison Peralta. Seems it was just updated again a bit ago. http://www.milb.com/milb/stats/stats.jsp?t...os&cid=1997 Adolfo is indeed on the roster.
  17. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 20, 2014 -> 12:44 PM) If John Danks is back to his 2008/2009 self, that contract becomes a bargain in this day and age. I sure wish he was at his 2008 velocity.
  18. QUOTE (Joshua Strong @ Jun 20, 2014 -> 12:32 PM) You're right, I just wish the punishment was more severe. Indeed. But changes won't happen until the next CBA.
  19. The White Sox new AZL affiliate starts today. Roster is incomplete, but obviously has 2014 draft guys on it. http://www.milb.com/milb/stats/stats.jsp?c...997&t=t_ros
  20. QUOTE (Joshua Strong @ Jun 20, 2014 -> 11:53 AM) If the Yankees want to spend over budget go ahead, but I hope they get the most severe punishment to send a message. The Yankees pretty much want to sign all of the best guys this period, and will just have a down signing period the following year. They will be capped on what they can offer international prospects next year I believe. I'm at work and not able to do the research, but it's something like they can't offer a prospect more than $200,000. The Cubs have stipulations like that this signing period because of their overages last year.
  21. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 20, 2014 -> 09:50 AM) For those that are worried he won't sign, there is one key thing that should make you feel better. Never in a million years would Hahn and company have locked up the 2-10 picks as quickly as they did if they thought they were going to need substantially more money to sign Rodon. Signing someone like J. Peters to a slot deal, only to lose 150k or so to add to the Rodon deal would be worse than the Swisher trade. Bingo. The White Sox did their due diligence. He's going to sign. It's not like Rodon fell to the 8th pick like Appel did. Appel was also unique in that he comes from a very wealthy family and money is not a large concern for him. Continuing, Rodon will have less leverage next year being a college senior and all. He will also be re-entering the draft in what is looking to be stronger class than this year's. For those that are worried that he hasn't signed yet, Boras draft clients almost always push it right up to the signing deadline. It's pretty surprising that Jackson signed as early as he did.
  22. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jun 20, 2014 -> 09:26 AM) 16 year old players are going to have such little influence. Who gives a s*** where the system is ranked anyways? This. These international signings really don't do s*** for prospect lists. They are way too young and aren't going to make an impact in the minor league system for a few years if at all. They are just too young, and often too raw. It's fantastic that the Sox are going to add talent to the system but international signings generally don't leap to the top of prospect rankings.
  23. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 20, 2014 -> 12:07 AM) More like Tim Anderson and Montas Indeed.
