QUOTE (flavum @ May 16, 2011 -> 09:17 PM) Kevin Garnett. Nah, Kevin Goldstein from one of those prospect sites. Yea. Baseball Prospectus.
-
Saladino 1-3, HR. His 2nd of the season. I still would like to see more opinions on his defense. KG has called him a true SS, but he's the only one who seems confident in that regard.
-
Blanke 2-4, 2B I'd like to see him and Petricka in W-S in the near future.

QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ May 14, 2011 -> 04:53 PM) Totally forgot about that dude. Has he pitched yet in 2011? He's in extended spring training.

The Triumphant Return of Jake Peavy @ Angels

QUOTE (fathom @ May 11, 2011 -> 11:30 PM) That was an easy call, and it was the right call. Even when we steal a base successfully, we don't. Absolutely the right call and the epitome of White Sox baseball. -
QUOTE (flavum @ May 11, 2011 -> 06:53 PM) Saladino is playing for W-S. Sweet, he's definitely one to follow. I wonder if he can stick at SS. I've seen many differing opinions in that regard.

QUOTE (bigruss22 @ May 11, 2011 -> 02:25 PM) Ugh, can't stand him. Sounds like a nice guy, and probably good to meet in person and listen to stories over a beer or something, but as an announcer he is flat out terrible. Have him on for an inning or two, a whole game is almost unbearable. Wimpy ain't bad. He's light years ahead of the embarrassing abomination that is Hawk Harrelson at least. I might have the TV unmuted for once.

By all reports Gray is going down. He was saying his goodbyes after the game last night.

I double checked, and Jared indeed has the most K's amongst all levels in minor league baseball. Sickels also wrote about him today. http://www.minorleagueball.com/2011/5/10/2...-2011#storyjump

Blanke is 3-4, 2 2B .298/.348/.462 BA had an article on him today as well. The title indicated his focus right now is on his D, but I'm unsure the content as I'm too poor to subscribe.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 9, 2011 -> 11:47 AM) What on Earth will people complain about if MLB goes to hard slotting and an international draft? We will then be shifting gears to the inadequacies in player development! Seriously though, not a fan of hard-slotting at all. It will really hurt many of the small market teams who have been and need to invest heavily in home grown players.

QUOTE (oldsox @ May 9, 2011 -> 09:46 AM) Is that $2.5 million figure valid? If so, it makes the money spent on Manny look even more foolish. No. I have no idea what they are going to spend. I expect a similar amount to the past few years or less justified by not having to spend on a 1st rounder. Many teams are preparing to dump significant money into signings this year because of how deep the class is, and the possibility that this will be the last draft without hard slotting. There is almost zero chance the Sox are one of these teams.

At least Sergio remains consistently filthy.

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ May 8, 2011 -> 05:30 PM) What the f***? 5 Ks? lmao. Oh my god. This is franchise is toast. I've had enough. I'm unleashing my devastation like never before on our player development. Relax guy. The draft is soon. We have a whole $2.5 million allotted this year with the absence of a first round pick.
-
QUOTE (Jordan4life @ May 8, 2011 -> 04:12 PM) When will Dustin Ackley get called up? This Seattle lineup is beyond despicable. He needs to start hitting first. Despite the glowing scouting reports, the numbers haven't really been there in his minor league career. I'm in the "Ackley is Overrated" camp.
-
Even through the Sox hitting slump, I don't think I would trade offenses with Seattle.
-
QUOTE (flavum @ May 8, 2011 -> 03:57 PM) Nobody should pencil Mitchell into a 2013 or 2014 Sox lineup. He's not good. 0 - 5, 5 K K-rate at a whopping 39.3%.
-
QUOTE (fathom @ May 8, 2011 -> 03:47 PM) I'm done with Alexei in the 2 hole. His at bats lately with runners on have been terrible. Ozzie has been talking about putting Morel there. He said he almost did it today.
-
QUOTE (jeffro2525 @ May 7, 2011 -> 11:25 PM) Mitchell ALMOST went a game without striking out. Struck out his last AB of the night. Went 1-4 with an RBI. Don't worry, he's made up for it by striking out 4 times in 4 AB's so far today. Trying to reach that elusive 40% K-rate. Edit: 5 strikeouts now. Ouch.

Sox (11-21) vs Mariners (15-17) 5/6 @ 9:10 CSN
DirtySox replied to chisox2334's topic in 2011 Season in Review
QUOTE (fathom @ May 6, 2011 -> 09:17 PM) Yet people seem genuinely happy on here with the job Buddy Bell has done. It's more on JR/KW not willing to spend over slot. The resources are extremely limited. The amount invested in the draft over the past years is disgusting. Spending less in 2 years combined than some teams do in 1 year is appalling. -
Heyman "Count on" Danks filling for free agency

QUOTE (Paint it Black @ May 6, 2011 -> 06:08 PM) If an actual GM is using win-loss record in trade discussions I think that GM would get laughed at by every big league team. This x1000. -
Hawk and Stone have been sick. Huff is filling in for Hawk tonight due to the illness.
-
QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ May 2, 2011 -> 07:36 PM) Gac with his 8th HR. I wonder if he gets a called up to AA any time soon, or if the Sox let him rake at High-A and then trade him at some point since 1B is blocked for a while now. Gac isn't really a prospect nor will he have much trade value. A 25 year old in High-A is pretty much an organizational guy.
-
Grimm is mowing down Kannapolis. Solid prospect though.

QUOTE (Chet Kincaid @ May 1, 2011 -> 02:19 PM) Man, even Hawk sounds demoralized. He's sounded that way for quite a few games now. It makes him even less bearable than usual.
