  1. QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Mar 8, 2011 -> 03:18 PM) Do we really want Dayan playing a bench role though? It wouldn't hurt having him get regular reps in the field down in Charlotte Thankfully, from what I've read it sounds like Sox management agrees that he needs many reps and won't be a bench option.
  2. Sounds like the Sox are actually being conservative with Mitchell, and plan to start him in Kanny. I approve. http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/baseb...0,5257600.story
  3. I'd bet Morel is officially named starting 3B sometime soon. This facade of a competition in order to not slight Teahen has about run its course.
  4. QUOTE (flavum @ Mar 7, 2011 -> 02:43 PM) Jason Marquis...I mean Jeff Marquez coming in. Another can't miss pitching prospect.
  5. Lucas Harrell is not good at baseball.
  6. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Mar 3, 2011 -> 05:52 PM) And why is that? Dude needs plenty of reps defensively and offensively. No need to waste away on the bench like he did last season upon his callup. He will be in AAA. Bet on it.
  7. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Mar 2, 2011 -> 04:34 PM) I knew about the speeding ticket, but the officer was a Cubs fan? Then Pierzynski should have said "You should let me go so I can take out some Reds players considering the Cubs are going to be playing them a hell of a lot more than us" scottmerkin Scott Merkin The officer who stopped AJ for speeding was not a Cubs fan, taking down a perfectly good story a notch 1 minute ago Favorite Retweet Reply
  8. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Feb 28, 2011 -> 03:48 PM) Holy s***, who is that SS? Dee Gordon? Dodgers top prospect. Him and Sands. Most of his value is defensive. Still questions about his bat.
  9. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Feb 28, 2011 -> 03:30 PM) Wow, that was one terrible throw by Phegley That might have been worse than Dioner's from earlier.
  10. Phegley now catching. Also, Sands in for the Dogders if you are a prospect guy.
  11. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Feb 28, 2011 -> 03:18 PM) Ask and you shall receive. Lotta glare in my place to compensate for, but you get the picture. This picture is a lie. I just read an article from the Detroit Daily News that Miggy is no "fat cat" and all that weight is pure muscle.
  12. QUOTE (jphat007 @ Feb 28, 2011 -> 03:13 PM) Pena gives up a smash to right center against some scrub. 2-1 Dodgers. Holy smokes I hate Tony Pena I'm no Pena fan myself, but Trayvon Robinson is a pretty solid prospect.
  13. Other pitchers scheduled to appear Monday are Jeff Gray, Miguel Socolovich, Lucas Harrell, Brandon Hynick, Tony Pena, Will Ohman and Jhonny Nunez.
  14. @jacobpetricka Not on the Sox yet, but here's hoping.
  15. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Feb 21, 2011 -> 06:05 PM) This statement is quite absurd. First, Flowers would have to re-establish any value he had before teams would be interested in him as anything more than a throw-in. And to consider moving him for a player who has a rare medical disorder that could sideline him for a huge length of time or for a player who just played in rookie ball is even more ridiculous. I would say the White Sox have talent at the catching position throughout the organization. I don't think you can say they have anything resembling depth when Blanke, Phegley, and quite frankly Gonzalez too (who could still be the best catching prospect in the organization...one rough year as a 19 year old in Kannapolis isn't going to make me think that much less of him) have yet to show anything close to consistent performance yet. +1 to all this. Merkin gonna Merkin.
  16. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Feb 15, 2011 -> 07:55 PM) BP has pegged the Sox 80-82. Just to be clear, this is from BP's PECOTA projections. Not just some contributer's gut feeling. I'm sure plenty think very little of PECOTA.
  17. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Feb 14, 2011 -> 12:10 PM) Problem is...isn't the top of the Yankees farm system at the Catching position? Edit: here's a version of a Yankees prospects list where 3 of their top 4 are catchers. I'm very high on Gary Sanchez and of course Montero's bat. Romine not so much though. The Yankees farm system has some really nice pieces in it. Love Banuelos.
  18. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jan 31, 2011 -> 11:11 AM) I read this thread title and thought "how did the element Osmium sign a pitcher"? I thought operating system. Needs more apostrophe.
  19. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jan 28, 2011 -> 07:02 PM) If you just read Keith Law's take on the White Sox and never watched a game or read a newspaper or listened to the radio, you would think the White Sox haven't had a 50 win season in at least 20 years. I am not exaggerating. I'm tough on KW and Ozzie, but you could take the biggest pessimist on this board and compare him to Law and the Soxtalk poster would seem like Hawk Harrelson. Law doesn't have anything nice to say about the White Sox. KW must have really pissed him off when Law was working for Toronto. I don't disagree. I'm not in love with Keith Law myself but I think it's pretty evident why Dayan is omitted from the list, and it's not because the author has an axe to grind. Edit: Here is the chat excerpt I mentioned above. He clearly doesn't consider Dayan a "non-prospect."
  20. I'm almost positive that under Law's system Dayan isn't eligible for his list. He no longer has prospect status. I believe in his prospect chat he states that Dayan is a DH that doesn't walk, but if learns some patience, look out. He also notes his impressive raw power. Methinks people are just looking for more reason to dislike Mr. Law.
  21. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jan 20, 2011 -> 07:28 AM) I find them very optimistic. Bill James' projections are always this way for some reason.
