Rosters for the Minors
Who is J Pedroza? 2B, Charlotte.

Adrian Nieto vs Kevan Smith
Good article, Northsider. I've always liked Smith and have followed him since we signed him. He needs a solid season at Birmingham.

Would you trade Alexei to the Tigers?
QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Mar 24, 2014 -> 12:35 PM) Not a chance from the Sox perspective. Their loss. Winning teams needs guys like L Garcia on the team. He reminds me of a lesser Rafael Furcal. A lot lesser. Furcal was tremendous when he came up with Braves.

Nieto makes 25 man roster
My favorite Cuban player will always be Minnie Minoso.

Jose Quintana extened thru 2018 - 5 yrs, $21.5 or $26.5 mill
Sherzer = the epitome of the greedy athlete.

ST: 3/24vs Mariners
QUOTE (fathom @ Mar 24, 2014 -> 05:42 PM) Pretty sure Hawkins is now 0-6 with 5 K this ST I think Sox should start him at Kanny, not W-S.

Sox make more roster moves
Why do the Sox have to carry 12 pitchers? With all of the off days and probable snow outs, why so many?

Sox make more roster moves
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 23, 2014 -> 04:28 PM) No. Okay, Southsider, I'll bite. Please explain. I think I know what you will say, just want to hear it. Regardless, I still don't like the trade.

Sox make more roster moves
I just saw that Addison Reed was lights out in his first appearance for Arizona. Meanwhile, Davidson gets sent down because he can't beat out Conor Gillespie.

ST: 3/22 SS- vs Giants/at Padres
QUOTE (fathom @ Mar 22, 2014 -> 06:47 PM) Saw Hawkins bat a few times today. He has no plate coverage at all. Unless it's on the inner-half, I can't see how he makes contact. Are there any stats on him in ST?

Sox make more roster moves
I sense that there are a few regular posters here who are grieving over the release of Boggs, since they were very enthusiastic over his signing.

ST: 3/22 SS- vs Giants/at Padres
QUOTE (fathom @ Mar 22, 2014 -> 05:03 PM) Boggs continues to struggle....no reason for him to make the club. Agreed. Much rather see Petricka make the team.

Would you trade Alexei to the Tigers?
QUOTE (IowaSoxFan @ Mar 19, 2014 -> 12:25 PM) Not trying to discount it, their FO just does not seem like the best to work with. They have been chastised for not spending and the union was threatening an investigation to see where the organizations money is going, so some of the moves this offseason were seen as token moves to keep some of the heat off. There has been speculation that the Madoff situation really weakened the ownership financially and that they are pulling out money to cover their losses in addition to the big debt load they took on when they purchased the team. Some teams will eat the money if the other team is willing to offer up a solid spect in return, but the Mets are very protective of their farm at this point. I believe all of that Madoff stuff is long resolved. Then owner Sonny Werblin lost a bundle to his buddy Madoff. Madoff then gave much of it back to Werblin, and the Trustee then sued Werblin to recapture the give back. They negotiated a settlement, and the financial prressure was then off since they knew what the damage was. Werblin was quite a character. His name appeared often and not very complimentary in the latest biography of Johnny Carson, written by Heny Bushkin. Werblin was his original advisor, and he really ripped Johnny financially.

Alexei is safe for now. Tigers got SS Andy Romine from Dodgers.

Minor Madness - Can Charlotte carry 28 pitchers?
QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Mar 21, 2014 -> 02:26 PM) Arroyo gone, a few other moves... still have this list of AAA possible/probables: ALREADY ASSIGNED TO CHARLOTTE: Rienzo (Starter) Surkamp (S) Leesman (S) Molina De Los Santos LIKELY REST OF STAFF AT THIS POINT: McCray (S) Axelrod (S) Petricka Heath Omogrosso Purcey T Thompson EVERYONE ELSE IN NO REAL ORDER: Zaleski Carroll Sal Sanchez Kussmaul Frazier Pena Jr Crawford Doyle Cleto Poveda Robles Plus then someone like Beck, McCully or Vance could sneak in from AA. Northsider, why would they keep Purcey, Heath, Omogrosso, and Molino?

Jonathan Mayo's Chicago White Sox Top 20
QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Mar 21, 2014 -> 12:07 PM) Lopez at 12 and Engel at 14 are interesting. See the catch-all thread for some pipeline discussion about their list. Lopez at 12 is VERY interesting, now that I think about it, especially given his relative age and that he'll miss time this year with an injury. What is his injury again??

The Most Interesting Rebuilding Club in the AL
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Mar 21, 2014 -> 09:02 PM) If Hawkins' season mirrors the 2nd half of 2013, then you can definitely see them throwing in the towel and buying an outfielder on the open market. But an outfield of Hawkins, Garcia and Eaton would be extremely exciting. Not quite ready to trust Rasmus yet. Would like to see him have a repeat of his 2012 success...and with that comes one of those $100+ million contracts that the White Sox have never given away, but contemplated with Tanaka (to go with the $68 million for Abreu). He didn't play under the media glare, in the heat of a pennant race last year. Would like to see how he handles the pressure of dealing with increased expectations and not flying under the radar. "Extremely exciting" -- not just exciting, but extremely exciting. Just curious, what year are you talking about?

2014 Minor League catch all thread
QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Mar 19, 2014 -> 07:53 AM) He's like 2-3 years away at the very, very earliest. 2-3 yrs? I'll take it. He'll prob start at Kanny this year, get promoted to W-S mid season......

Dunn not in the best shape of his life
QUOTE (greg775 @ Mar 19, 2014 -> 12:47 AM) It's sad if Danks doesn't make the team and one of the DeAza, Viciedo tandem has to sit because of Dunn. I don't like DeAza or Viciedo much, but I haven't given up hope on either just yet. I'd rather see either of those 2 play than Dunn. Same here, but the real problem was addressed here a couple of months ago when Konerko re-signed. Sox simply don't have room for both PK and Dunn, not with the stud rookie playing every day. Hahn and JR have to face the music. They decided PK can come back, so Dunn should be jettisoned. Hahn keeps saying that he is playing for the long term -- fine, then cut Dunn if you can't trade him. He owes it the the other 24 players, if nobody else.

2016 25 Man Roster
QUOTE (IowaSoxFan @ Mar 18, 2014 -> 04:43 PM) Danish and Hawkins will still be a ways away to start 2016. Especially Hawkins.

2014 Draft class
QUOTE (ptatc @ Mar 16, 2014 -> 09:04 PM) The Sox will not draft a high school player with the third pick. Kershaw was a HS grad when drafted by LA. Still very risky, but if Sox can't sign the pick they get a very high pick next year.

Dunn not in the best shape of his life
QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Mar 15, 2014 -> 12:32 AM) All I want to add is that I love this board and can't wait for AFD to hit 80 homers this year. I'm friends with a Reds fan, and the only two things he likes about the Sox are Hawk (HE GONE) and Donkey. Boyzzz Maybe you should get a new friend.

Dunn not in the best shape of his life
If he really isn't in shape, Sox should start season with Dunn on the DL. Can't keep him there forever, I know, but I'd rather see Tank or JDanks get extra AB's. Anybody, really.

White Sox make second round of cuts
QUOTE (Stan Bahnsen @ Mar 14, 2014 -> 07:32 AM) Hopefully, he'll spend the 2nd half of the season there. Don't mind that they're waiting for him to show more offensively, before "challenging" him. Could Hahn be instituting a less aggressive philosophy in this regard? OT, but who do you think will be the Rox CF on opening day? I'm thinking Stubbs, and thinking I'm not going to like his offense a whole lot. Having Cargo in CF would have allowed better flexibility, but I guess I kinda understand the reasoning. My choice is Cargo all the way, partly because I like both Blackmon or Dickerson in LF

I thought Trayce would go to Charlotte instead of B'ham.
