BA's top college players of the decade
QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Feb 4, 2010 -> 10:33 PM) It's pretty damn cool seeing all of those guys in their college uniforms. They all look so young and cute! This was what I thought, minus the last sentence.

Adrian Gonzalez
QUOTE (Lillian @ Feb 5, 2010 -> 07:09 PM) Would the Padres be interested if Konerko could be included with the prospects, especially if the Sox were willing to pay part of his salary? If the Sox paid $6 of the $12 million owed Konerko, that would bring the total cost of A. G. to about $10.75 million for this year, which is still less than they would owe Konerko. That might help entice the Padres, as they would have a replacement at 1B for Gonzalez, which could appease the fans. Konerko would also being staying because not only the reasons as stated above, but he'd become the DH. At least I hope Ozzie has enough respect for Paulie to not put him in a rotating monster.

Official 2009-2010 NFL Thread
QUOTE (iamshack @ Feb 5, 2010 -> 05:16 AM) Something tells me he is not going to be interested in being a #2 back. And some team will take him on as their #1 back. At this point in his career, my guess is he isn't a whole lot different than Forte, to be honest. Wouldn't it be something to see him go to those Patriots... Especially after seeing them gloat over him in 06.

LT says he's done as a Charger Well, this is intriguing. Does anyone consider the Bears should consider him as a #2 back? They could use someone to compliment Forte.

QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Feb 5, 2010 -> 12:50 AM) At this point, if all it would take is Hudson, Flowers, and Danks we might as well do it. We need the shot in the arm, and as much as i dig the idea of both Danks brothers starting for the team at the same time, i'm far more sentimental about a guy who could pop 50 from the left-side. If all it takes is Hudson, Flowers, and D2, then pull the trigger. I too would love to see the D&D brothers (like the M&M Boys in Minny, and it would allow them to enter to this) but I'd get over it. (Also, Hudson, Flowers and D2 seems very cheap. I'd believe something like Hudson-Flowers-Mitchell-Morel or Hudson-Flowers-Danks-Viciedo would be more likely)

QUOTE (chisoxfan09 @ Feb 4, 2010 -> 11:59 PM) More fodder on Agon. I know pipe down. Couldn't resist though. http://fantasybaseball.usatoday.com/conten...MLB&id=3593 There is a quote from Moored that they will have trade Agon sooner rather than later in the 3rd paragraph down. You never know. Full article with second link here. http://www.signonsandiego.com/news/2010/feb/03/1s3sullivan/ Take that Joe Mauer.

QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Feb 4, 2010 -> 10:27 PM) After living in eastern Michigan for a few years, it was obvious that the Pistons made the trade just to make a trade. The GM got so fed up with losing in the playoffs that he wanted to break up the core to motivate them, obviously that didnt work too well in hindsight. That logic will forever baffle me. Seriously. Obviously if you're losing in the playoffs, you would want to acquire a big piece. Not a "I Must Start or Nothing" Allen Iverson/

Buehrle would consider retirement
QUOTE (flavum @ Feb 4, 2010 -> 09:28 PM) He can do whatever he wants, but if he quits at 31, takes a year off, and then comes back and pitches for the Cardinals for 4 or 5 years, I'd be a little pissed if he did that. Don't be a Favre. Stop talking about it, but when you do it, stay gone. If he did, I would never wear my Buehrle shirt again as long as he played. And I wear it once a week, so that'd be change.

QUOTE (Chi Town Sox @ Feb 4, 2010 -> 09:38 PM) still don't understand Billups for Iverson after they had that long run of being VERY good in the East The only logical explanation is that Joe Dumars is being paid on the side by the Cavs.

Worst Farm System in MLB
QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Feb 4, 2010 -> 07:37 PM) I'm at the point where i can seperate myself from the prospect loving side of me. Just get me A-Gone, and let's call it a day. We've got in-house options to replace Danks (Mitchell), and we're focusing on pitching in our next draft anyway. A.J's got a couple more years left in him, and we can always find another catcher elsewhere. A-Gone is just too good to pass up. D2 is the one prospect I'd be sad at giving up for AGon, purely because of his brother. I've always been a fan of brother combos in the majors. That being said, from a baseball stand point, I'd be fine giving up D2 for Gonzalez. However, I could see the amount of players sent being lower if you included Mitchell instead of D2.

Buehrle would consider retirement
QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Feb 4, 2010 -> 07:39 PM) And I think if Buehrle pitches until about 41, he has a chance to be a H.O.F if he can get around 280-300 wins. World Series Ring, Gold Glove, All-star appearances, 2 No-hitters, Perfect Game. In 9 years he could had 1 more to each one of those things. If he pitched until 41, I could see him accumulating stats that would make him likely for the Hall of Fame. He'd probably get 2-5 GG's (with Mussina and Rogers gone), and maybe 2-3 All-Stars.

I was sleeping for most of the game (I have an odd sleep schedule), but it looked like a combination of poor execution and bad reffing. I now only want to play good teams on the road. It's the only way they can win.

Worst Farm System in MLB
QUOTE (bighurt4life @ Feb 4, 2010 -> 01:27 AM) If you scroll down and read the comments Law gets fairly well ripped by a couple of folks for his anti-Sox bias, one guy even says that he's not a Sox fan just can't stand KLaw's bias. The really funny think is that Law starts responding to some of the critical posts and cries like a little girl with a skinned knee. He's not very professional, that's for sure. I find it amazing that after catching tons of s*** for not including Hudson on his top 100 prospects list he puts Hudson on his impact rookies list, then proceeds to say NOTHING positive about him. One last b**** about him, he obviously hasn't seen Hudson pitch or seen any video on him if he thinks that Dan doesn't have any plus pitches. His fastball sits in the low to mid 90's and I've even heard reports of it touching the upper 90's when he's really throwing hard, on top of that, his FB has crazy movement, if that's not a plus pitch then would someone please tell me what is. Can you post some of the comments? Even those are insider.

Buehrle would consider retirement
QUOTE (flavum @ Feb 3, 2010 -> 10:55 PM) 2010-2018. That's nine seasons. He would have to average 18.33 wins a year to get to 300. So the Sun-Times is bat s*** crazy. I'd like it if he stuck around for 200 wins with the Sox, and added another ring or two. Maybe my memories off on the year they said. It also had Zambrano getting 300 a year after Buehrle. Found it: "I saw a prediction in the paper," Buehrle said recently when asked if there was any chance he'd become the next Randy Johnson, joining the elite club of pitchers to win 300 games. "I'd need 17 wins for another 10 years. I'll be 41 in 2020. If I had to bet right now, there's no way in hell I'll still be pitching when I'm 41." http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2009/writ...hrle/index.html

Buehrle would consider retirement
QUOTE (ScottyDo @ Feb 3, 2010 -> 10:37 PM) He was just on the Hot Stove. They gave him some softball questions ("you pitch quickly..." duh. And "do you like the direction your team is going in?") but they also asked if he was still thinking about retirement after this contract is up. He said yes, pretty firmly, because he wants to spend time with the family. But he also noted that his wife thinks he's full of it. Everyone else on the network agreed with his wife. So do I. What about you guys? He's too much of a competitor to give it up, plus, I think his wife will convince him to keep going. I just want him to pitch till he get's 300 wins (Sun-Times projected it to be around 2018, so he can't retire for at least 8 more years)

Buehrle or Peavy on Opening Day?
QUOTE (Heads22 @ Feb 3, 2010 -> 09:32 PM) I love JFP as much if not more than the next guy (hell, I MADE JFP), but this is Mark's staff, Jake has said as much. He's the face of the franchise, and he's as capable as any of our starters of locking it down. I just got the image of you standing over Poreda, Richard, Russel, and Carter and going "WE CAN ACQUIRE HIM. WE HAVE THE TECHNOLOGY"

Worst Farm System in MLB
QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Feb 2, 2010 -> 01:03 PM) While dissing the stadium acting as if we change the name every couple years. 2 names in the history of the stadium? Yes? Even Chase Field in Arizona has had 2 names already in it's 12 years of existence. I think that was his biggest display of anti-Sox mentality. QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Feb 2, 2010 -> 01:03 PM) For an idiot and Sox-hater, Law sure seems to be doing exactly what was expected out of him. Yup. When Hudson does well, Klaw can go screw himself.
