After the first two rounds it's like everyone is drafting european basketball players. If I recognize them, I like the pick. If I don't, I'm easily convinced one way or another.

The Tigers brilliant maneuvers of being in the correct market got them Ty Madden.

@bmags has talked about this a lot. It was real easy to hate Hostetler's draft philosophy of safe depth picks, especially since they didn't really start coming along until recently. But now that those depth picks are supplementing a core of free agents, trade acquisitions, and international signees, Shirley's philosophy seems better moving forward to reload for the next generation.

I think with fully healthy Eloy and Robert, which is a big if, plus a trade for a 2B and reliever, firmly puts the Sox right there.

Yup. Right now, the stars / core aren't draft picks (outside of Anderson), but a lot of the depth has been – if we had all this in 2016 (and the the free agents had been performing) the Sale / Q / Eaton era might have gone differently.

Then why in God's name did you think Grady Sizemore would find his power again for years and years after his age 27 season when he had 0 home runs, but Moncada can't in his age 26 season with 5 home runs so far with a dead ball? Is it because Moncada focuses on getting on base and Sizemore only cared about swinging for the fences? Is it because Moncada gets on base at an elite clip and put up a better OPS (.915) than Sizemore ever did with less home runs? His OPS this season, .788, is the exact same as Sizemore's last good year. None of this is account for his injuries that can sap power, which is a legitimate concern, or the fact that they just banned sticky stuff which could see power numbers come back.

Doesn't have Hoglund in the first, for anyone that would be a fan of that pick.
