Completely normal thing to do.

One thing that has always irked me is people saying Magic wouldn't have formed a super team. Dude totally would have if he wasn't on the Lakers. Then he demanded a trade in 1981.
-
Does that even get it done at this point?

Negro leagues elevated to major league status
Quin replied to southsider2k5's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Most likely no - the Negro Leagues didn't keep great stats on hand, especially while barnstorming. Josh Gibson is likely only going to get 113 home runs: https://www.baseball-reference.com/register/player.fcgi?id=gibson002jos -
Omar Vizquel facing domestic violence accusations
Quin replied to soxfan49's topic in Pale Hose Talk
The wild part is that this has been playing out on her Instagram Live and in Venezuelan media (I'm learning this from the article). Yet it somehow flew under the radar until this piece. This stood out: His representative is basically saying "It's not even the worst assault and you should be focusing on his baseball career." Also, of course, people online can be trash: The whole piece is worth the read, but damn if it isn't difficult at points. -
...just realized when the season starts. Yeah, that blows for Vonleh.
-
I know it's likely not, but it reads like Vonleh got waived for getting COVID. God I wish they kept him over Kornet.

I can't blame Harden. He's given Houston everything and the new owner has burned that franchise to the ground in record time. George, Kawhi (Spurs edition), and Kyrie are one thing. Harden is another.

It was never going to happen, so I'm happy he's staying with the Bucks. Big win for small market teams. The thing is, the NBA needs to fix the super-max. They should make it only take the same cap space as the regular max, but the athlete gets paid the same.

A small bit of levity.

So, you hate capitalism?

In a thread about changing the name "Indians" to respect Native Americans - including Native American leaders who have been cited in this thread. You decide to argue that non-white people can do racist things (which yes, clearly that is a thing). So because you don't get offended you resort to whataboutism. Because you totally don't get offended at all. Because you're not at all triggered about the name of a baseball team getting changed - and it's not even your team. Grow up or stay mad, broski.
-
The translation here is that even if Native Americans are offended, your opinion matters more because you're a big strong man who doesn't care even though you clearly do.

Lions wanted to be the "monarch of the league" like how lions are king of the jungle. Also to tie into the Tigers. White Sox is because it hearkens to when teams were named after the colors of their socks - the late 1800s. They just needed something to differentiate the teams. The Chicago White Stockings (later Cubs) had existed in the market and Comiskey wanted to take advantage of the abandoned brand. Bulls is a reference to the Chicago meat industry.

Circling back to this: The Cleveland Wild Things. It's both terrible and wonderful at the same time.
-
This is the only factor that needs consideration. You need more pitching. Right now the Sox have: Proven starters: Giolito, Keuchel, Lynn High upside, past injury concerns, low inning totals: Kopech, Cease, Crochet Who the hells know: Lopez Young guys on 40-man: Lambert, Stiever, Flores, Vargas After that top three it's a hell of a lot of wild cards.

Just in case you ignore this, I want to direct you to this.

Meet bigger hammer. Here's a letter from the National Congress of American Indians. Link to letter with signees, including additional context.

Alright - Cali got his answer that served as the catalyst for this thread and devolved into sniping. If you wish to discuss Eaton, it can go to the Eaton signing thread.

I saw Cleveland Guardians bandied about, in reference to the Guardians of Traffic statues and keeping the -ians suffix.
-
Considering they're talking about clothes and not players, yes. Notice how no one really gets mad about Reds or Red Sox. Because, again, color and article of clothing. People aren't neutron-star dense and are able to differentiate between ethnicities and literal colors that exist on the visible light spectrum.

Tony LaRussa to plead guilty to lesser charge
Quin replied to southsider2k5's topic in Pale Hose Talk
White Sox manager pleads guilty to crime he was charged with day before being hired, which the team knew about. However, because it was a lesser charge, some members of Soxtalk view this as a win. Alright. -
