Jose Abreu: White Sox Don't Have Same Desire to Win As Royals
Quin replied to Dunt's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (GreenSox @ Sep 20, 2016 -> 11:33 AM) Eaton has never struck me as a win at all costs player. But TWTW isn't the problem with this org anyway: Talent is. Please explain why? He busts his ass and is extremely talented. Just because you've been consistently proven wrong about him doesn't mean he's not a winner. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Sep 20, 2016 -> 11:40 AM) Ironically, Eaton has a lot of it. And you always try to get rid of him in your posts. 9th best position player in baseball. QUOTE (SCCWS @ Sep 20, 2016 -> 11:46 AM) I disagree. The blame should rest on the shoulders of the person(s) who has decided each year that Robin will stay. Touche. -
QUOTE (raBBit @ Sep 20, 2016 -> 12:38 PM) The House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform is a bipartisan committee but don't let facts get in the way of your narrative. 25-18 in favor of Republicans with a Republican chair. It'd be like calling the current congress a Republican congress. Technically correct, because we all know that majority party rules.

Jose Abreu: White Sox Don't Have Same Desire to Win As Royals
Quin replied to Dunt's topic in Pale Hose Talk
The blame here rests squarely on Robin's shoulders. They've got guys like Abreu, Frazier and Q that lead by example, character and grit. They've got intense, win-at-all-cost players like Eaton, Lawrie, Sale and Rodon. Anderson and Saladino seem like they've got fire. Avi busts his ass. Robin needs to get everyone else rallied. Seems like he can't. -
QUOTE (Iwritecode @ Sep 20, 2016 -> 08:41 AM) I never saw him reach into the car. It looks like he was standing next to the car with his hands up, they tasered him, shot him and then let him lie on the ground and bleed to death. And yelled "shots fired!" Being the one who fired shots.

QUOTE (DrunkBomber @ Sep 19, 2016 -> 09:56 PM) Im sure Huma is a lovely young lady. I thought she was great in the Weiner doc. Great film btw. Not trying to be inflammatory, just confused by that comment. And yeah, that doc was a fun ride. Dude could have easily climbed the political ladder if he had just kept his camera away from his dick. Best part of the film is the filmmaker going "...why are you letting me film this?"

QUOTE (raBBit @ Sep 19, 2016 -> 10:06 PM) I've lived in the same place for what will be two years on Black Wednesday. It's in the Loop. I have never had an issue with cellphone service here or really anywhere other than deep in the forrest preserve. I have Verizon. These past two weeks I have not been able to hold a call without going out on the balcony. I can't even connect to call someone from my bed. Very annoying. Has anyone else dealt with anything like this? SIM card could be failing. I'd take it to the Verizon store. My phone had spotty service at best sometimes in NYC of all places. SIM problem.

Wait...why is Huma questionable?

QUOTE (Big Hurtin @ Sep 19, 2016 -> 06:10 PM) Another shooting, in Tulsa http://www.pbs.org/newshour/rundown/tulsa-...rence-crutcher/ Father of four. His truck stalled in the road. Was on his way home from class.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 18, 2016 -> 01:57 AM) Sports fans are amazing. The Royals fans booed Soria mercilessly this week when he pitched. And Yost for putting him in there. Fans always think they are the best. Then they pull s*** like that. Fans are all the same. A bunch of them are morons. One of the reasons I'm so loyal to the guys from the 05 Sox for years after they won it is ... they f***ing won it! I'm not going to blast them after giving me nirvana. At least at Mizzou, Royals fans had a real high opinion of themselves the past two years. Now? Nothing.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 18, 2016 -> 01:47 PM) Jim Brown on Syracuse.com says about what I've been saying about Colin's stance insulting the military and there being better ways to protest. SYRACUSE.com link for those who again think I'm trolling http://www.syracuse.com/orangefootball/ind...al_activis.html Brown, however, cautioned that police shootings and cases of police brutality can't be lumped together and protested against in bulk. "The things he's pointing to are things that should be evaluated and handled by those in a superior position to him," Brown said. "When you talk about police killing people and brutality, that is not something you can just march in the streets and protest against because every case is a different case and should be adjudicated. We have people in position in the political arena that should be spearheading those types of things. That issue is above football players." He also questioned the wisdom of using the national anthem to boost the visibility of the protest. "You can point it out but you don't necessarily want to disrespect the national anthem or the flag," Brown said. "There are outside entities that are trying to bring this country down. We have to go back to the memories of 9-11. If that memory doesn't do anything to you as an American, then you're not really that sensitive a human being. When you think of the sacrifices our firefighters make, think about the service of soldiers in foreign lands and listen to their lives, you have to be careful that whatever you do, don't cast a shadow on what these great people do. They make sure you have the right so speak out without retaliation, or at least no retaliation other than other people criticizing you." And veterans have said different.

QUOTE (Jerksticks @ Sep 17, 2016 -> 07:16 PM) See I think looking for a great CFer is not going to be worth the acquisition cost. We have some guys in Tilson, Engel and maybe May (nor sure on his D) who can straight pick it. I'd rather spend the necessary reaources to get a LFer who can absolutely mash n pick it. Then we'd essentially have two really good Lfers rotating the DH all over. The problem is the question mark surrounding all three of those players' hit tools.

29 injured. None dead. http://www.nytimes.com/2016/09/18/nyregion...WT.nav=top-news Homemade bomb detonated in a dumpster in NYC, people were injured by shrapnel. A pressure cooker bomb was found four blocks away. Happened in Chelsea, near a place I went a few times after work this summer. Crazy.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 17, 2016 -> 11:19 PM) OM gosh. The world of participation trophies. The world is WAY WORSE now than when Barack Obama took over. The economy in the USA is horrible for the middle classes. health care is AWFUL. Costs are astronomical. There is no leadership. If I were president I'd kick some ass to the pharm companies and tell them to get real. 800 dollars for a prescription unless you have insurance??? You guys are easy graders. Barack's America is a DISASTER! Chaos in cities. Violence. Horrific relations between cops and the people. Gridlock in trying to get any cooperation from Congress. Obama gets a D or D-plus! That said I do like the man personally. Great sense of humor and a Sox fan! But as a president ... please! He's not a leader. p.s. I VOTED for the man. lol

QUOTE (GreenSox @ Sep 17, 2016 -> 04:35 PM) That's all fine, but Lawrie, the "proven veteran", had a OPS of .723 before he went down. how does that stack up? And the year before it was .706. Saladino is also a very good defender and can play all infield positions. No Saladino isn't an all star level player...but he also in his 2nd year. And it's not like the Sox have someone better. Further, they have much greater deficits compared to the rest of the league at other positions, like CF. So did you know that Lawrie is younger than Saladino? Just curious. Why is Tyler still developing and Lawrie can't?

QUOTE (Reddy @ Sep 17, 2016 -> 10:05 PM) Obama has been extremely effective. I'm not sure what more you could've asked for given the monumental obstructionism. The country is unequivocally better off now than it was 8 years ago. But unfortunately people have very short memories where politics are concerned. The fact that Obama got as much done as he did is nothing short of amazing.

QUOTE (Hatchetman @ Sep 17, 2016 -> 10:18 AM) Robertson's WHIP must be approaching 2 in his last 7-8 appearances! 1.408

QUOTE (raBBit @ Sep 17, 2016 -> 10:00 AM) Melky is a leader. Total goofball but a leader in the clubhouse. He hates him for the steroid bust.

QUOTE (GreenSox @ Sep 17, 2016 -> 09:22 AM) I like Saladino but more power and more walks would help a lot. I like Sanchez too. Sox would have been better off just using those 2 all year v. Lawrie. They can trade Lawrie, but won't get much; yea they didn't give much, but some occasional positive arbitrage out of his FO would be nice. Sanchez?

I'm glad that it looks like the Sox are sinking the Royals chances.

QUOTE (Brian @ Sep 16, 2016 -> 08:49 AM) Dude was always overshadowed by John Williams but he's great. It's small, but this moment is exactly what the video was saying the MCU lacked.

QUOTE (GreenSox @ Sep 16, 2016 -> 04:15 PM) I wouldn't be so quick to get rid of Robertson (if "going for it"). He's not great, but he has the stones to close and can usually close out a 9th. The pen outside of Jones is mediocre, so they need another late inning guy. Maybe that's Burdi. Petricka and Putnam (Putnam has some stuff, at least) were no better than average, so their return won't help or hurt. But Beck and Kahnle may be good enough to fill middle relief by next year. They'll need a lefty. Shouldn't be hard to find. But don't chase veteran middle relievers....fools game. Jennings, yo.

QUOTE (JUSTgottaBELIEVE @ Sep 16, 2016 -> 04:08 PM) That's really really cool. Jose seems like such a class act. Not sure how anyone could not root for the guy. When I interviewed him for a project, I greeted him in Spanish. He responded in English with "Hello my friend" and responded with "Thank you my friend." For someone not fluent in English, it was a small but cool gesture.

QUOTE (InTheDriversSeat @ Sep 16, 2016 -> 05:51 PM) Who cares if a skyline is in the background? I don't. Just because other teams do that, doesn't mean we have to. Makes NO difference to me. I'm perfectly happy with the stadium we have now, and I could care less if I can see any skyline or not. I'm more interested with the game on the field, and the amenities inside the stadium. And to anyone who thinks the seats in the upper deck are too high, there's an easy solution: Buy a ticket in the lower deck. Problem solved. . I'm not saying build a new one solely because of that, but the next one (as previously stated) will likely be on top of the Old Comiskey grounds. It would be difficult to angle that to have the skyline in the background and provide a nice aesthetic. As for amenities, that's why I said blend the two.

QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Sep 16, 2016 -> 02:48 PM) Are Sox fans allowed to say this? Aren't we(obviously nobody on this board but you get what I'm saying) in general like the biggest bandwagon fans around? I feel like we're the exact opposite. The same people are Sox fans if they win or lose, it's just those people won't go to games if they lose. QUOTE (raBBit @ Sep 16, 2016 -> 03:09 PM) I hope they get swept in the NLDS. I've been the "Sox guy" ever since I was a little kid. Back in the day, we'd have some fun and go back and forth with it and then once the Sox won most of the s*** talking went away. All of a sudden everybody became Hawk fans. Recently, a bunch of people who don't know baseball and have never talked baseball with me have started talking the s*** again. I am annoyed by it. I don't hate the Cubs team or their players but I wish their fans' suffering to continue. Maybe that's immature, but oh well. Nah, 100% this.
