  1. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jan 21, 2016 -> 10:49 AM) Hasnt this all been torn down? Armor Square and Bridgeport have become very affluent in recent years. Nothing like they used to.
  2. QUOTE (nitetrain8601 @ Jan 20, 2016 -> 05:40 PM) The FO lucked into Rose. No one can dispute that. So take away his awards to be honest. As far as the other awards, you've named multiple ones for the same players. And again, none of those players were as good if not better before or after thibs. Beasley v. Rose was hotly contested. Just like Oden v. Durant was. There was luck, but they still had a call to make. Ok, let's list the non-Rose players. Ben Gordon Luol Deng Kirk Hinrich Joakim Noah Taj Gibson Jimmy Butler Niko Mirotic Pau Gasol You don't just accidentally acquire that much talent. QUOTE (AustinIllini @ Jan 20, 2016 -> 05:52 PM) The bold is completely false. Nothing prevents me from changing my mind. Currently, I'm not sure what the better option is. What shall they do? And don't overvalue Thibodeau. He was a defensive tactician, but his teams played baby offense and he wasn't a locker room manager in the slightest. And Thibs refused to hire an offensive assistant and Jimmy Butler was among 3 starters that wanted Thibs gone.
  3. QUOTE (raBBit @ Jan 20, 2016 -> 04:17 PM) Well I got something.
  4. QUOTE (ozzfest @ Jan 20, 2016 -> 03:49 PM) 3) An NBA FO has three responsibilities A) Drafting B) Free Agency C) Creativity in making your team better; has Gar Pax satisfied 2 of 3? A) They've got an A+: Fantastic drafters, arguably the best. B) They've got a B+: They've signed Brewer, Korver, Boozer (who was good for the first two years), Robinson, Augustin, Bellinelli, Gasol, Dunleavy, etc. All of those signings worked out to some degree. C) James Johnson became Niko Mirotic. Tyrus Thomas became Doug McDermott who looks like he can be a solid role-player. They don't get creative in player-for-player trades or in-season deals, but they are plenty creative.
  5. QUOTE (ozzfest @ Jan 20, 2016 -> 03:41 PM) The Bulls didn't clear the decks for Melo. They gave him a 2 year deal. An insulting offer. And a big risk for Melo. It was one of the offers they floated towards him, similar to LeBron's deal. It has never been stated that it was the only deal offered.
  6. QUOTE (ozzfest @ Jan 20, 2016 -> 03:38 PM) Regular season record doesn't matter. Even according to the front office. They fired Thibs, not because of his regular season record, but because they were "worn out" by the time the playoffs came around. If you are going to convince yourself the this Bulls team is a contender go ahead though. Last time I checked a contender doesn't go double OT with the sixers. The 72 win Bulls lost to an expansion team.
  7. How about this: GarPax have drafted an MVP, a ROY (and a runner up), a DPOY, a sixth man of the year (and a runner up), four All-Stars, multiple All-NBA defensive players, and signed an All-NBA 1st Team center. Other than the Spurs, you'd be hard-pressed to find a better drafting team with the only blunders being Teague over Draymond and Snell. They've cleared space and tried to sign big tier free agents multiple times. But the Heatles happened and Melo decided money was better than winning.
  8. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jan 20, 2016 -> 03:28 PM) Yeah, you're right to a degree. The Wiggins trade was stupid and I said it then. Wiggins could've been to LeBron what Bias was supposed to be to Larry Bird. All those other failed draft picks are on the FO. Agreed on the draft picks. But Wiggins trade and TT's extension are both squarely on LeBron.
  9. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jan 20, 2016 -> 03:21 PM) I should've and meant to say the west favorite those years. You're right about those east teams, especially the '08 Celtics (the best defense I've ever seen). I agree that LeBron might have to dip out again to win another title. The Cavs FO is just awful. The problem is LeBron runs the Cavs FO.
  10. This thread is cancerous and ozzfest has no logical basis to any of his arguments other than he wants to complain about the GarPax because he feels the need to b**** about them because as a hindsight revisionist GM, he knows EXACTLY what to do.
  11. If Rick Hahn had balls of steel, he'd have the team move SoxFest to US Cellular Field. Then Cespedes arrives via helicopter and the speakers blasting DJ Khaled's All I Do Is Win. They then announce he has signed forever.
  12. QUOTE (danman31 @ Jan 20, 2016 -> 12:23 PM) The top six (Danish at 5 and Guerrero at 6) were pretty unanimous. After that we started to go all over the board. That's an understatement.
  13. QUOTE (ozzfest @ Jan 20, 2016 -> 11:39 AM) Front office rankings in Chicago (in terms of which teams have the best chance to win it all). Which is how a front office should be judged. 1) Blackhawks 2) Cubs 3) Bears 4) White Sox 5) Bulls Lol. Bears should be fifth and Bulls second.
  14. Hey everyone, We all love articles here. Especially with news flying left and right about Cespedes and the rest of MLB, articles get shared here. But please, please, please do not post entire articles in your posts. It puts SoxTalk at risk for theft, because most of these sites rely heavily on clicks for their business purposes. Just remember some rules of thumb: 1) Don't post premium-paid content that is behind paywalls. You can summarize it if you'd like, but not copy and paste it. 2) If you're posting an article, follow a format such as this: Read More: http://www.chicagonow.com/soxnet/2016/01/t...f-sportsvision/ Post a snippet, then give everyone a link to follow. Putting it in quote brackets will help greatly distinguish your own thoughts from the work of others. Thanks everyone for helping keep SoxTalk safe, while simultaneously helping drive traffic to places that provide content we discuss.
  15. While I doubt the Sox are in the Top 10, it's not our place as a public forum to ask for people to post premium-paid content. This puts SoxTalk at risk for stealing content.
  16. QUOTE (whtsoxfan @ Jan 19, 2016 -> 10:28 PM) Apparently this is Coops FB account however not authenticated: https://www.facebook.com/donny.cooper.10 Friends with Dylan Axelrod, so I can see it.
  17. QUOTE (blackmooncreeping @ Jan 18, 2016 -> 09:18 PM) Who cares about 3 years from now...this sucks, the entire division improving around us...more than us. The Indians improved?
  18. QUOTE (WhiteSoxLifer @ Jan 18, 2016 -> 08:50 PM) Justin Upton will get staggering $132.75 million with his 6-year deal with Tigers. https://t.co/22rKTJ6l2a via @usatoday https://twitter.com/BNightengale/status/689278544422154240 Holy s***.
  19. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Jan 18, 2016 -> 08:38 PM) But hey, we got Todd Frazier & Brett Lawrie the next two years! We're more than good to go! When did Frazier suddenly become something to sneeze at?
  20. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jan 18, 2016 -> 08:25 PM) That page is a cesspool of meatball fandom. cesPOOLdes* QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Jan 18, 2016 -> 08:34 PM) Upton to the Tigers, so you can cross one more team off the list. Ok Rick. We get it, you're a slick poker play. Now time to make a play.
  21. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jan 18, 2016 -> 07:45 PM) I enjoy watching GS destroy the Cavs. They have no idea what to do. But remember, the Cavs revealed the blueprint to beating them in the loss.
  22. QUOTE (knightni @ Jan 18, 2016 -> 02:22 PM) Since we can't go back in time, we're always closer to the first pitch than the last. I feel oddly religious.
  23. QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Jan 18, 2016 -> 04:06 PM) The constant pestering probably means nothing to Jerry/KW/Hahn, but it's worth a shot. Come on Mike, you know that's not how this works.
