Earlier I saw some Bryce Young "highlights" and realized Chris Getz would have made that trade.

Ed Walsh threw 42 complete games in 1908. Today's pitchers are slackers. Hell, the pitchers in the 90's were slackers!

Since the board update, you can just copy + paste a url as long as the url is just the image. Example: Without embedding, here's the raw url (the forum gives me the option to display it as this instead): https://media3.giphy.com/media/v1.Y2lkPTc5MGI3NjExODBoaDV2MnF4dzNoOTU3NTl4aTBpbGcwMHFudndrMWtwdzFpZndndiZlcD12MV9pbnRlcm5hbF9naWZfYnlfaWQmY3Q9Zw/jpbgnQgnKxcvQ6nzAQ/giphy.webp

And it's worth mentioning that the 1899 Cleveland Spiders were effectively a AAA team. The Spiders owners also owned the St. Louis Perfectos (formerly the Browns). They then transferred all of the Spiders good players to St. Louis. The league then banned owners from owning more than 1 team. But it really hammers home: The 2024 White Sox will likely be the worst team in MLB history that is actually attempting to be a major league team. Yes, there were restraints with Jerry, but everything Getz said when he got hired through Spring indicated that he thought they'd be a decent - not good, mind you, just decent - team at worst. Chris Getz actively trying is this bad.

Bro, they need vet leaders. Imagine where we'd have been without luminaries like Tommy Pham and Martin Maldonado

Will the Sox prioritize Moncada over youngsters?
Quin replied to caulfield12's topic in Pale Hose Talk
There is literally an interview with Dombrowski where he says it was Benintendi or Moncada + Kopech or Devers + the rest. Hahn wanted Moncada/Kopech/Devers, but couldn't get that because DD knew no one could match Moncada/Benintendi + Kopech + more Here's the interview -
2025/2026 College Football Thread
Quin replied to chitownsportsfan's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
I don't know if I've ever been happier with a college football game, even Mizzou's bowl win last year. Mods know, but my dad passed away in July (I think the ill wishes against JR got sent to the wrong Jerry). He was an NIU alum, so I pulled for NIU growing up. He also loathed Notre Dame. He would have been so unbelievably happy. My aunt (also alum) and I were hollering on the phone together. My mom said it made her cry. -
Outside of staying that this move seems obvious and it'll be fun to see Burke make his debut. I SEE THAT YOU CAN PROPERLY FORMAT GRAPHICS WHITE SOX SOCIAL MEDIA TEAM. WHY CAN'T YOU DO THIS WITH LINEUPS?

Just the fact that there were multiple valid answers, well, that says a lot.

Will the Sox prioritize Moncada over youngsters?
Quin replied to caulfield12's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Huh, my bad then. I remember Kopech having a MASSIVE jump at one point and being the top ranked, but I guess I'm wrong. -
I was talking about TLR acquiring the wrong Luis Basabe from the Red Sox during his attempts to raze the D-Backs to the ground.

Will the Sox prioritize Moncada over youngsters?

Funnily enough, Benintendi was #1 (at some publications) when Moncada was acquired. But Kopech was also the #1 RHP prospect and Eloy was a top 10 RF. They weren't far behind. -

I need to asterisk that TJ wasn't his fault, unless we credit his one-track mind obsession with velocity. But we all know Moncada's 2019 and 2021 seasons. Every other year he was either hurt or had COVID. Eloy is the second-most snake bitten player ever after Ian Hamilton, but he did win a Silver Slugger as a rookie. Kopech was an OK fifth starter in 2021 and then cratered. -

I'd say Kopech is in the driver's seat. Moncada and Eloy at least had varying degrees of success and dealt with chronic injuries. Everything with Kopech was his own doing. -
He's gonna do a TLR and trade for the wrong player at some point, isn't he?

I mean the fact that he can't say Luis Robert's name correctly annoys the s%*# out of me. It's a small thing, but indicative of the fact that he's not on top of things. This is a player he was in charge of developing. He's worked with Robert for years.
-
Cause that's what he used to justify Getz. Shrugging and go "aww shucks" just means they get a carte blanche excuse to suck. It'd be like if fans acted like GarPax were above reproach because it's just how Jerry operates. Getz is failing miserably by both his and JR's publicly declared standards while simultaneously creating the worst major league team of all time. They deserve all the smoke.
-
No no no, it's not his fault because the Sox were never able to develop depth while he was responsible for that aspect of the org. Every time he opens his mouth he makes me realize that he didn't go to Michigan to play school.
-
Remember when he said it would be an aesthetically pleasing brand of baseball that pitchers would love to play in front of?
-
These are the vibes I had when Braden Shewmake was on pace to hit 162 home runs this season.
-
And everyone here still views it as a billionaire handout and loathes it.
-
If we're going of DRS (which was being used in the other thread), his current small sample size extrapolated to a full year would make him worth two peak Andrelton Simmons.
-
He's as much of a prospect as DeLoach and Fletcher. The only difference is Getz didn't acquire him. And before everyone starts banging the drum on Fletcher's defense, yes, he has looked amazing lately. He also looked like a newborn deer earlier in the season. Maybe they'll actually get a hitting instructor in Charlotte of all places and they can possibly have a RF with some power.

Could we Match (or beat) Phillies from 1938 - 1942?
Quin replied to Texsox's topic in Pale Hose Talk
The answer to all futility questions is "yes."
