That ball just hung for a while.

Huh, for some reason Alex Rios playing 599 games with the White Sox doesn't seem right at first, but then you think about it and it does.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Apr 20, 2014 -> 12:54 AM) Konerko has had a much better career than Dunn. Is that even up for debate? Paulie is my favorite player of all time and it actually is a possible debate. I pick Paulie, but it's close.

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Apr 19, 2014 -> 10:41 PM) Does anyone play Injustice? Is it worth a shot? It's definitely fun, though not as fun as MK9.

CAN'T HANDLE ADAM SPEED

QUOTE (raBBit @ Apr 19, 2014 -> 01:56 PM) Santana is throwing tonight I think. We need to get "penis blood serpent" to stick as a name for Quintana. The Flying Serpent is the more PG version of the nickname and where the penis blood came from.

QUOTE (Marty34 @ Apr 18, 2014 -> 06:10 PM) Nice write up on Rodon can't vouche for the source This quote from the article is great, but it reads like Boras' negotiating stance: Rodon's mechanics nag me, don't like his follow through seems like it would put a lot of stress on his arm. Video I think Rodon is somewhere in between this write up and the what his dropped value is. If you're the Sox...you go all out to get him to agree to a reasonable deal. If he signs for $5M with the promise of an MLB appearance in 2014? Do it. Someone said it earlier, but a first three picks of Rodon, Jakson Reetz, and Conor's brother would outstanding.

Peavy deal keeps looking better if Avi bounces back.

This thread is stupid. If it were Ozzie, greg would be saying Ozzie made a great decision to not let the pitchers have long leashes.

QUOTE (ZoomSlowik @ Apr 17, 2014 -> 03:55 PM) Probably going to need the full MLE for him, which would be tough with Melo. There were rumors a while ago that Nikola may take less than the MLE to come over. If so, this scenario IS possible: Rose/Kirk/Jimmer Butler/Brewer Melo/Dunleavy Nikola/Taj Noah/Smith Brewer, Kirk and Jimmer would all have to be vet minimums, which I don't see why they wouldn't. You keep a second rounder for possible depth. Other ring chasers. Bench ain't great, but when you have that starting line + Taj, things can happen.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 17, 2014 -> 07:10 PM) So does that mean we should talk about Gordo's RC at AA? A ball: 142 AA ball: 140 AAA: 210 Not as many at bats, but you know, still.

QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Apr 17, 2014 -> 03:54 PM) What ever happened to Leyson Septimo? He get claimed? He's in independent ball now.

But we need to keep up with their farm system!

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Apr 17, 2014 -> 08:24 AM) Semien now hitting .206 with a .275 OBP and on pace to whiff 205 times. If Beckham did this, posters would be calling for his release. Semien does it, he's a professional hitter with nothing to prove in the minor leagues. LMAO Really want him to go develop. I'm getting flashbacks of Gordon.

Leury's pitches actually looked pretty good. Coop was mad that his change wasn't called a strike. I've always wondered how they pick which non-pitcher will pitch.

QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Apr 14, 2014 -> 08:00 PM) Pence was terrible, and he couldn't figure out how to do some of the easier aspects. Conversely, Puig was actually quite good. He beat Pence in the HR derby twice, and then even beat Russel (SCEA Dev team) in HR derby as well. Game looks very similar to 2013, yes, but I'm still enjoying it like I always do. The biggest reason to upgrade is online franchise and year-to-year cross-platform saves. Can't wait to never start a franchise again. And no, Greggy Mills is a Cubs fan. As soon as Pence and Puig left he jumped in to a Cubs/Cards game because he wanted to see what Wrigley looked like (even though they always reveal a ton of Wrigley pics before each game's release because it matters I guess). This is my favorite feature. QUOTE (danman31 @ Apr 14, 2014 -> 08:27 PM) I think Pence just wasn't very good at The Show. He whooped ass in Injustice. Fantastic.

QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Apr 14, 2014 -> 11:19 PM) I think it was Quinarvy who got me hooked on a prep catcher for our 2nd RD pick. I am forgetting his name at this moment, but I think he was either a lefty power guy, or a switch hitting power catcher who was good defensively. I'll look him up and edit this post. EDIT: Found him. Not a lefty, or a switch-hitter, so I'm not sure why I thought that, but his name is Jakson Reetz. http://m.mlb.com/video/v31230535/draft-rep...tcheroutfielder So Reetz or Conor Gillaspie's brother, Casey, would be nice picks to get in the 2nd RD. Yup, Reetz. Athletic and should remain at catcher. Your browser does not support iframes.

Bullpen help on the way. Edit: hopefully

Is it just me or does Hoffman seem even riskier than Aiken and Kolek?

I stand by the thing that you try as hard as you can to get Rodon, though obviously within reason. If he hits his ceiling, Rodon, Sale, and Q at the front of a rotation is terrifying.
-
QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Apr 14, 2014 -> 12:28 PM) Wait, we do? Is option A Hoffman? Yeah, since when did this get set in stone? I mean, Hahn has said Rodon is the best college arm.

QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Apr 13, 2014 -> 04:21 PM) Game back on. Kluber is still pitching.. And Conor still hitting.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Apr 12, 2014 -> 10:13 PM) Am listening to the Pods-Tigers game. The announcer Dick Enberg is 79 years old and sharp as hell. Crazy how the human body/brain works. Some people can be devastated by Alzheimer's, etc., and others like Dick Enberg ... 79 years old and sharp as a tack. Just listen to the Pods some night. He is amazing. He was describing a controversial out call at second base and immediately proclaimed, 'this won't take long to overturn' his eyes correctly assessing the play. How the hell can he be this sharp at 79? It's probably sports. Sports keep those involved in sports very young. That's one theory, but then you have Hawk.
