Maybe Paulino/Surkamp/Rienzo turn into something this year. Maybe a version of first year Humber (who we should then promptly trade). Maybe Beck, Danish or possibly Kolek/Hoffman turns into a big thing. We can afford to wait.
-
I'd want Kolek over turner simply because I have more confidence in the Sox turning Kolek into an ace than Turner into Jose Reyes 2.0 But I'd love either if they hit their ceiling.

Public floggings for DUIs. That'll get em.

Sox had a bunch of can't miss prospects in 2000 and were set to contend for years with that young core.

QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Jan 23, 2014 -> 12:24 AM) I don't like that Herb was used as an insult.

f*** it. The Tank is dead. Let's do this.

Please let Hard Knocks pick the Bears. Olivet would hate that and I hate Olivet. It'd be perfect.

I'm confident that EJ can match Hector and a healthy Danks can match Peavy.

QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jan 22, 2014 -> 02:06 PM) Yeah well Mark Grace drives drunk and Sammy Sosa used steroids. And I'm arguing in facts! Prince Fielder was making $4M/year with the Tigers according to him. Also, the Cubs have the best minor league system and are thus setup because they're all sure fire hits. Abreu, Garcia, EJ, Semien, Webb, Davidson, and Eaton are all likely to fail.

I think Rick signs a RHP now that the Tanaka Saga is over.

QUOTE (pettie4sox @ Jan 22, 2014 -> 01:35 PM) He's a cubs fan. You really don't need to say anything to him. Sadly, he's in my multimedia sports class.

Just had a Cubs fan tell me Sox were never in on Tanaka, Sox have the worst front office in baseball, have done nothing to improve their MLB team or farm system the past five years, Sale's contract is worthless if they don't trade him. Cubs were a playoff team with Tanaka and Tigers signed Joba for the same amount they used to pay Fielder. f***ing idiot.

Am I the only one that became a Sherman fan after that game? I want the Broncos to win, but I like Sherman now.

QUOTE (glangon @ Jan 22, 2014 -> 03:44 AM) If Tanaka was to sign with the White Sox, I'm salivating over the rotation for next year. Sale Tanaka Quintana Danks Johnson I think we could go toe to toe with most rotations in the AL if we sign Tanaka. The only one that I would say is better going in would be the Tigers, but that could very easily change depending on how Tanaka and EJ adapt to the MLB and how Danks recovers.
-
I'd be happy with Kolek or Turner. I'd feel safer with the Sox drafting Kolek though.

QUOTE (TaylorStSox @ Jan 21, 2014 -> 09:45 PM) I'm way more curious where each rank in their league. Everyone knows that the NL is harder for pitchers.

QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Jan 21, 2014 -> 09:21 PM) Durant is quite average. That man ain't human.

QUOTE (flavum @ Jan 21, 2014 -> 08:55 PM) Dunn is going to 44 Davidson 22 Eaton 1 http://mlb.mlb.com/team/roster_40man.jsp?c_id=cws http://mlb.mlb.com/team/roster_nri.jsp?c_id=cws Dunn's return to #44 will bring his numbers up.

QUOTE (Jake @ Jan 21, 2014 -> 08:56 PM) Can Joakim fill in at PG? He would will his way to success This would be the greatest thing ever.

QUOTE (ptatc @ Jan 21, 2014 -> 08:46 PM) Yea a shout out to an athletic trainer. We dont get those often from the outside. Herm and Coop may be the best duo in the posrt when it comes to handling pitchers. It's why the Sox seem to always have a top rotation despite pitchers with less than stellar stuff (Sale being the exception)
-
QUOTE (raBBit @ Jan 21, 2014 -> 08:36 PM) You better hope for a Bailey injury! Nope. I have more faith in Q building his arm strength and being helped by Herm and Coop to pitch effectively and avoid fatigue and injury throughout the year. Last year they were pretty even in stats with Bailey having way more K's. Give me the 24 year old left hander who has improved each year at the major league level who performed similarly in the AL with the better pitching coach and better athletic trainer over the 28 year old who despite his great stuff took forever to figure it out in the NL.
-
QUOTE (raBBit @ Jan 21, 2014 -> 08:20 PM) You're better than this Balta. Last year is going to be one of Quintana's best seasons if not his best. Bailey bettered him in FIP, K/9, BB/9, IP (in less starts), GB%. Homer Bailey's stuff is close to top 10 in the MLB for starters. Quintana's stuff is 3-4 material. Let's remain objective when comparing our own players with others. Jose Quintana will be better than Homer Bailey next year.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jan 21, 2014 -> 02:35 PM) He profiles with 80 power, 70 arm, and 50 speed from what I am putting together (if he reaches his potential). In today's game, that is not easy to find. Sox are trying to hoard power in this new powerless era. I like it.

QUOTE (staxx @ Jan 21, 2014 -> 01:39 PM) Exactly why random twitter posts are useless right now. I'm more optimistic because of the fact that we are not seeing a ton of garbage and the sox. For real, here is ALL we know about the Sox. Hahn: We had a meeting with Mr. Tanaka, it was exploratory, we won't disclose anymore information about it to respect his wishes. Kenny: We believe it won't come down to just money. We're in this. Rock: $20M is the Sox per year limit. Had all the calculator nerds in office to fit him into the budget. Bucket: ...if someone thinks the Sox are out of it, they're wrong.
-
Rock said our limit was $20M a year. If the high offer is $120M/6 from the Cubs, well "blowing away the field" could mean blowing away the Yankees, Dodgers, and Dbacks. The only people who have said anything about Tanaka regarding the Sox other than "won't happen" are Hahn, Kenny, bucket, and Rock. How can the Sox offer be blown out of the water when only the front office, Tanaka, and Close know what it is?
