QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Dec 10, 2013 -> 09:25 PM) The Heat win is even more annoying now. They always get up for the Heat. Just not everyone else.

QUOTE (bucket-of-suck @ Dec 10, 2013 -> 05:45 PM) Likely not a casual fan loving blockbuster but consistent with the plan: cost controlled impact with high upside that's an improvement over a Gillaspinger 3B. Good stuff. And lol, Gillaspinger.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Dec 10, 2013 -> 05:19 PM) I'm at the Florida basketball game and AJP is supposed to be here tonight. I wonder if I tell him I'm one of his bigger supporters on Soxtalk he would refrain from hitting me. I better not risk approaching him lest he hit me or act rude to me, could affect my feelings for him forever. "AJ! I'm one of your biggest supporters on SoxTalk!" *ignores greg* "AJ! Did you hear? I'm one of your biggest fans!" *Looks at greg* "AJ!" "What the f*** is SoxTalk? Some stupid Boston site?" "No! A White Sox discussion page." "Who f***ing cares?" That's about how that'd go.

QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Dec 10, 2013 -> 05:03 PM) Honestly fathom do you trust Hahn to get value for De Aza? I see us trading him for some low level pitcher with an ERA of 5 but has a "live arm". I hope I'm wrong on that but I would rather just keep him at that point. You are really bitter about this deal. Hahn has gotten good to great value in all of his trades so far.

Sox acquire Adam Eaton from ARZ, deal Santiago, Jacobs

So Hahn has turned... Peavy, Rios and Thornton into... Avisail, Leury, JDA, and Eaton. I'm cool with that. -

QUOTE (Heads22 @ Dec 10, 2013 -> 04:56 PM) Ultimately, I hope this is part of a defined direction for the White Sox. The Paulie deal aside, we're gravitating towards younger, cost-controlled (for a while) players. There's no reason that a guy like Keppinger or Alexei, for example, needs to be a part of that. And players that hopefully have good OBPs. -

QUOTE (dayan024 @ Dec 10, 2013 -> 04:55 PM) Jim Callis @jimcallisMLB 1m Soon-to-be #Diamondbacks OF Brandon Jacobs: Auburn RB recruit, plus RH power potential but inconsistent contact, solid run, LF arm. So Whitesox give up Santiago and Jacobs to get Eaton? Well, I was hoping it'd be less than Jacobs, but do what you gotta do. -

QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Dec 10, 2013 -> 04:53 PM) Man that's pretty bad. Jacobs isn't the greatest but still a meaningful prospect. I assumed it was an A ball pile of crap. A bad deal even worse, slightly. Can you change your name to Santiago>Eaton? -
QUOTE (Reddy @ Dec 10, 2013 -> 04:21 PM) if there's any way to get Daniel Murphy you do it. De Aza and Flowers for Murphy?

QUOTE (bulokis @ Dec 10, 2013 -> 04:22 PM) A Sale to Eaton swap will drive this board nuts. My point was that if it had been Sale, it would have been a whole lot more than Eaton. So much that the Dbacks wouldn't be able to pay for anything else like Trumbo. -

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 10, 2013 -> 04:07 PM) Jayson Stark @jaysonst 30s Kevin Towers said 3-way deal started w Dbacks & White Sox talking about Eaton. If Sox had been dealing Sale wouldn't have needed 3rd team Dan Hayes @DanHayesCSN 35s Kevin Towers said he hoped to get Hahn to discuss "Mr. Sale" but couldn't get #WhiteSox GM to budge. If the Sox had been dealing Sale, the Dbacks wouldn't have been able to afford a 3rd team. -

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 10, 2013 -> 04:05 PM) Bob Nightengale @BNightengale now The original trade talks involved when the #Dbacks tried to get Chris Sale from #Whitesox Scott Merkin @scottmerkin now Eaton was near the top of White Sox off season target list Daryl Van Schouwen @CST_soxvan 13s Hahn: Eaton our CF for next several years. De Aza now a corner OF but he and Viciedo potential trade bait. 1) 2) Good, had a plan and executed. 3) One of them has gotta go. -

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 10, 2013 -> 03:25 PM) As of today, we started our rebuild two years after the Cubs, and we are about 2 years ahead of them in terms of where our talent is at, as our top rated guys are here today. I like Rick Hahn. -
Sox acquire Adam Eaton from ARZ, deal Santiago, Jacobs

MLBTR: In 380 career MLB plate apparances, Eaton is a .254/.332/.373 hitter with five homers and seven stolen bases. He's batted .365/.441/.522 with eight homers and 38 steals in 602 career appearances at the Triple-A level. Prior to the 2013 season, Baseball America ranked Eaton as Arizona's No. 4 prospect, noting that he'd made enough defensive strides to convince scouts that he is an everyday big league center fielder with double-digit home run pop, plus speed and a strong, accurate throwing arm. Should he pan out, Eaton could provide the White Sox with their center fielder of the future; he's controllable through the 2018 season. -

QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Dec 10, 2013 -> 02:00 PM) I don't think you want that to be a thing. Take out Beck? More doable for Sox? Or is he that bad defensively?

QUOTE (scs787 @ Dec 10, 2013 -> 01:57 PM) Lacks speed? He stole 44 bags in 130 games in the minor leagues. Bro, he's not Grady Sizemore. Meanwhile... TUESDAY: A team that spoke to the Phillies about Brown informed ESPN's Jayson Stark that Philadelphia doesn't sound enthused about the idea of moving Brown and is looking for two to three young players in return (Twitter link) MONDAY: The Phillies are "actively shopping" Domonic Brown with an eye toward selling high on him in an effort to acquire controllable young pitching, reports Jeff Passan of Yahoo Sports (on Twitter). Dayan, Beck, Rienzo/Snodgress, and Hawkins? Could that be a thing?

QUOTE (The Ultimate Champion @ Dec 10, 2013 -> 01:50 PM) So what's the consensus here, is this Eaton guy going to be a butcher in the field? Speed and arm strength apparently right? Is he inept out there? I don't want some bumblebee out there bumbling around in the field, not for Santiago anyway. He supposedly puts a lot of stock in his defense and is consistent but nothing awful or spectacular. -

QUOTE (Andy the Clown @ Dec 10, 2013 -> 01:37 PM) Well the Sox do -- that's why they let MB walk, and that's probably one of the main reasons they're trading Santiago. No, they let him walk because he was getting offered $58M and they foresaw a long rebuild.
