People realize that a deal for Sale would be the biggest price paid for any pitcher ever, right?
-
After JDA, I'm not ruling the Sox out if Hahn wants him. Sale - Tanaka - Quintana - Johnson - Danks/Santiago looks damn good on paper.

Like I've said before... The price of Sale is astronomical and unprecedented. Look at what the A's got for Haren, now make it bigger.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Dec 4, 2013 -> 01:40 AM) I know Bill James personally. He lives in Lawrence as you know. And to all the statniks ... Bill James wrote a long long long essay in one of his books about the fact there is no such thing as "protection" in a lineup. In other words, let's say Adam Dunn is batting third and Abreu fourth. The performance of Dunn has nothing to do with how Abreu hits. That is according to the stat guru, Bill James. He says lineup protection is a myth (unless he's changed his stance on this). I know you all will disagree with James on this so what do you think of him now? I am confident, however, that James can identify baseball talent and his Red Sox now have AJP. That means Bill is projecting another good to great year from AJP. Meanwhile, we let him go LAST YEAR when he still could have been our catcher. Not smart. Greg is citing Bill James. I don't understand the world anymore.

QUOTE (ZoomSlowik @ Dec 3, 2013 -> 08:07 PM) Comparing the 4th pick in the draft to one of the greatest centers of all time is lowering expectations? I meant it that I love how they've been trying to temper their expectations since Stevenson/LeBron. Then boom. This draft. They've thrown it all out the window. I find it funny.
-
I give it to Jordan due to the 3rd verse.
-
I love NBADraft's player comparisons for this draft, after they lowered expectations after DeShawn Stevenson = Jordan... 1. Wiggins = Pippen 2. Parker = Carmelo 3. Exum = Penny 4. Embiid = Olajuwon/Bynum 5. Randle = Larry Johnson/Mashburn 6. Smart = Harden

LMAO at Greg citing Bill James and Sabermetrics for the Red Sox signing AJ. Is greg now a statnik?

Deng boosts trade value, Bulls lose. The tank rolls on. Have to debate on Taj, whether he'd be best to keep or if some team would overpay with a high first rounder for some insane reason.

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Dec 2, 2013 -> 10:39 PM) Worst trade ever! Fire KW We effectively got Daniel Webb and Myles Jaye for Daniel Hudson. That being said SIGN HIM NOW. He's in the same situation as Floyd, but better.

I'm now a huge Michigan State fan. Mad I didn't go to the Mizzou game tonight, but I decided to spend one more day at home with family. -

QUOTE (ZoomSlowik @ Nov 28, 2013 -> 12:17 PM) Mirotic comes of the bench. We have no idea how good he is anyways. Or you could play Monroe at C if someone blows you away for Noah. Taj would obviously get dumped somewhere in this scenario. While he's still here, the Bulls would finally have 4 real bigs so the starters don't have to play 40. Boozer plays out the string off the bench and then gets amnesty'd. Do we really care about his minutes at this point? Putting it that way, then yeah, I'd be good with just Deng for Monroe. I'd want them to keep the pick because they are going to need cheap talent on the bench and GarPax generally makes good picks. But you can't dump Taj, you need legitimate value for him. Edit: Bulls would need to take back someone like Charlie V for the contract to work, but yeah, I'd be cool with it.

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Nov 28, 2013 -> 11:50 AM) Oh ok then that makes sense. I just can't help but laugh when I see Parker > Wiggins. And it's mostly bulls/illini fans. Somethin' tragic would have to happen for Wiggins not to blow up the nba. Yeah, Wiggins has the monster athleticism. Randle is just a huge, athletic inside monster. Exum (from what little I've seen) just sees the game incredibly smoothly and has the athleticism and shooting to compliment it. Parker still has great athleticism, but he also seems to have a chip on his shoulder and massive amount of skill for someone so young, making me think he'll never be content to rely on his athleticism and existing skill. Basically, you can't go wrong with any of the four and I think Jabari is most attainable. -

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Nov 28, 2013 -> 10:38 AM) This. I think people are getting too wrapped up in Parker being from Chicago. Don't get me wrong. The kid is really good. But Wiggins easily has the most upside with very little downside. I might even take Exum and Randle before Parker. You can't teach elite athleticism. I don't expect them to be able to get Wiggins or Randle. I think Exum has the chance to be the biggest star from the draft. But I think it's possible they get the #4 pick and having Parker with whatever version of Rose exists writes itself for marketing. -
QUOTE (ZoomSlowik @ Nov 28, 2013 -> 09:43 AM) Since the Bulls played Detroit last night, I had a thought: are they dumb enough to give us Monroe for Deng? My initial reaction is f*** no, but it does make some sense. Their frontcourt doesn't work on either end of the floor. Smith at SF is brutal. They're not moving him or Drummond, and Monroe might be gone since he's talking about a max deal. Deng would be a huge upgrade at SF and let them play Smith inside where he belongs. I'm sure we'd all much rather pay Monroe 15 mil a year than 12 or so for Deng. Plus it would give them the flexibility to dump Taj I still don't know if it could happen because of the talent gap, but it makes too much sense. I'd even throw in a protected first I think. Where are you playing Nikola at? What about Booz or Taj for the rest of the year?
-
QUOTE (scs787 @ Nov 28, 2013 -> 12:08 AM) Would you guys do Waiters, Earl Clark, and Tyler Zeller for Deng? It's over 9M so it would work. Clark's contract next year is non guaranteed next year, then you have a potential starting 2 guard and a backup C for the next 4 years. They tossing in a pick? Otherwise, no.

Bulls are out of their damn mind if they don't do everything possible to try and get Jabari. -
I don't understand these people saying to hang onto Deng.

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Nov 26, 2013 -> 10:02 AM) The Bulls are deeply entrenched in NBA hell. There's just no way out of it right now. Which is exactly why they need to blow it up. Yet you still hear people go "I dunno, they should hold it together one more year."
-
QUOTE (Jake @ Nov 26, 2013 -> 07:52 AM) I might think about that. You're looking at a lineup with: (Point Guard)-Lamb-Butler-Gibson-Adams or (Point Guard)-Butler-Snell-Gibson-Adams or perhaps Mirotic in for Gibson. That would leave us with a very young, very athletic core and I'd be pretty excited for next season with Mirotic and a rookie(s) Other deals kicked around over there: Hinrich for Shved Deng for Marion + filler and Mavs 1st this year (if it's in the top 20) You'd be going into the draft with... PG: Rose, Teague SG: Shved, Lamb SF: Butler, Snell PF: Nikola, Taj, Murphy C : Adams/Perkins And you have the Bulls pick (which would be damn high at that point), possibly the Cats pick, the Mavs, and the Thunders pick. Everything goes right and Thibs gets that young, athletic roster. And Zoom, hasn't Lamb been doing well this year (in what is essentially his first year in the NBA)?
-
Non-Bulls fans at RealGM suggesting this: Joakim Noah and Mike Dunleavy for Jeremy Lamb, Steven Adams, a 1st and Perkins. I have no idea whether I'd take it or not. The only thing making me not think "Done" is my love of Jo.

QUOTE (Jake @ Nov 25, 2013 -> 11:46 PM) I don't love rooting for losses in a lottery system. With that said, trade Deng and Noah if you can, let the kids play, and root for them to win -- they'll never win enough for you to feel bad about rooting for it. Tank Commander Marquis at your service.
