QUOTE (Marty34 @ Oct 3, 2012 -> 08:57 PM) KW open to idea of bringing Myers back next year as a starter, Might not be a bad idea. He can serve as a cheap innings eater to protect Sale, Danks, and Quintana. http://www.csnchicago.com/baseball-chicago...mp;feedID=10338 How long ago was he a starter? Could he be another guy that runs out of gas after throwing so many innings?

QUOTE (Noonskadoodle @ Oct 3, 2012 -> 08:57 PM) Seems like every at bat Dan had was a quality one when he got the opportunity. He could have def helped. Kinda sucks he couldn't play any 3rd base. That doesn't stop this organization from trying to put the square peg in the round hole. See Josh Fields.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Oct 3, 2012 -> 02:20 PM) The Sox had lower attendance due to expectations and Dynamic Pricing. They lost a good portion of their season ticket base last offseason, which is the biggest cause of attendance drop. People played wait and see. That is very typical. They then try to buy tickets and they are ridiculously priced because they weren't purchased in February. Forget the dynamic deal discount, forget the Sox save of the week, people don't want to go through hoops to buy your product. Set a price and keep it there. Ironically, Ozzie mailing it in last year probably hurt the Sox attendance this year. That's it. Last comment I doubt had anything to do with it. Kenny giving the impression the team going into 2012 wasn't going to be good hurt more. Management has been keeping their mouth shut so far.

QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Oct 3, 2012 -> 01:10 PM) This, Grienke for a ton of reasons on both sides is not coming here. I think he's a mental midget and comes from an organization where losing is a habit.

QUOTE (JoshPR @ Oct 3, 2012 -> 07:26 PM) Man a lot of playstation moves going on here.... or like Phil Rodgers flipping baseball cards I'm going to leave this up to the men who get paid for doing this. It seems like every person should be traded except for Chris Sale. Trade him too while you are at it.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Oct 3, 2012 -> 12:07 PM) The problem is nobody else had problems beating those Detroit pitchers before we let them off the hook. Detroit was losing to everybody not named Chicago for a long stretch and those KC pitchers are horrible. If you stretch it back a bit, we got shut down by a lot of other clown pitchers this season. BTW, Tigers have struggled against CY Chen. When Chen gave up two, he was shut out. The Tigers still found a way to win.

QUOTE (Soxfest @ Oct 2, 2012 -> 09:42 PM) So many extra inning losses this year bad ju ju. It's little things like that and playing .400 against the NL that put more pressure on a team late in Sept.

QUOTE (2nd_city_saint787 @ Oct 2, 2012 -> 10:29 PM) Because as Chicago sports fans we're used to collapses due to injury....Maybe because you're out in KC and didnt already experience the collapse of the Bears the last 2 years due to injuries or the Bulls last year because of the Rose/Noah injuries. Welcome to Chicago sports and excuses and just not being good enough.... when they do win it all it's because they were superior. Chicago is still the city of chokers. The Northside counterparts have the biggest play in it.

QUOTE (2nd_city_saint787 @ Oct 2, 2012 -> 07:51 PM) lol people forget Dunn was an all star this year....voted by his peers...ya his peers are idiots and know nothing about baseball right Good thing they don't play that game after the season. Then if he was voted in...yes his peers would be idiots and know nothing about baseball. All Star appearances are plenty in the Sox kingdom...which are nothing more than aesthetics compared to post seasons.

QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Oct 2, 2012 -> 09:30 PM) Talk about being able to get the rumors first hand! He should start a "My guy on 35th says..." thread.

Might have another 1st place tie in the East.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Oct 2, 2012 -> 08:28 PM) Saw the score and thought it was Reed that blew, only to find out it was Jake-meister. Figures. Right now, 2nd's locked up and 84 wins is going to put us in better draft position probably... All the more reason to have better scouting.

QUOTE (fathom @ Oct 2, 2012 -> 08:12 PM) If there's one person you want to crush the ball this series and go out on a positive note this year, it's Tank I've had no beef with his season at all. He's rookie and people expected Mike Trout.

QUOTE (South Side Fireworks Man @ Oct 2, 2012 -> 03:15 PM) Acquire a good second baseman. Keep Gordon as the utility guy. If he plays himself back into a starting job, great. If not, he'd be one of the best utility infielders the Sox ever had. Best choice. He has played 2nd,SS,3rd.

QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Oct 1, 2012 -> 07:54 AM) I don't think there approach was all that much better in June. Free-swinging, low OBP guys get on hot streaks, and a lot of them went on hot streaks. And Dunn isn't the problem. You can't look at his average. He is the most unique .210 hitter ever. Maybe in an ideal world you have enough good hitters in your lineup that you don't have to bat him 3rd, but I don't see the Sox having the resources to make that happen. It's the Ks that bother me. A career high. He still hasn't figured out AL pitching while Pujols and Fielder did. AL pitchers have figured him out. If he is in the AL next year, I bet he doesn't walk as much. You can't have his low average in the AL with a supporting cast like the Sox.

QUOTE (fathom @ Oct 2, 2012 -> 02:04 PM) It's amazing to me how much more angry you are at a team that competed and ran out of gas in 2012 as opposed to a manager and team that flat out quit in 2011. Unfortunately the result is the same. At least this year was a month longer of meaningful baseball.

QUOTE (kapzk @ Oct 2, 2012 -> 06:09 PM) Dude s*** happens, this is sports and especially when you are a pitcher anytime can a muscle pop off and screw u up. We should be fortunate that he worked his tail off to get into the shape he is, heck a ton of ppl making that type of money wouldn't have bothered getting back to where Peavy has gotten back. Just respect that and move on. More like he and his agent should be fortunate that he worked his tail off to get into the shape he is. Funny how athletes show up for that potential new pay day. I wouldn't assume 100% that Peavy goes elsewhere next year either.

Hopefully they can find another GM who will be impressed with Dunn's HR and RBIs and ignore his low BA and high K rate. I got a good laugh last night when someone on WSI thought the Yankees would be interested. They probably would if they have another Wilson Betimit to give away.
-
There's newspaper media bias as well. IF they can't compete with the Cubs for attendance, smart thing is to move. I don't know where but if you are not drawing, move.

QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ Oct 2, 2012 -> 02:57 PM) Kansas City shut the White Sox down almost every game they played and the Kansas City rotation sucked. Surely someone other than Hawk has to come up with some lame excuses for that.

QUOTE (Real @ Oct 2, 2012 -> 12:05 AM) career years from rios and AJ, lots of HR's in our lineup, and had a CY candidate in the rotation, and they still couldn't make the playoffs this team is not going to win this division for at least 2 more years, bank on that 2nd wildcard if you're wanting to see this team in the postseason Look at it the other way. A team that had to win the division at game 160 in the weakest division in the AL, has 2 aces, two hitters with one being a triple crown candidate. Their starting rotation, 3 and 4 hitters are superior to the Sox and they almost lost. This was one of the better fundamental Sox teams coming out of the gate and that's why their record was good for a team that was suppose to be close to losing 90. Having a rookie manager with no prior experience didn't help much. The hardest thing to ignore is too many veterans can't play under pressure. They seem to have forgot how to do the little things.
