  1. QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ Apr 10, 2015 -> 10:44 PM) Indeed. Boston 20-29 at the end of May last year with a roster many predicted to contend. Blew it all up in July. I really hope the Sox can turn it around but man it's just a s*** start. And let's not kid ourselves this is an awful 0-4 as well. They haven't really been in a single game late and many of the gaffes we've seen are eerily familiar of the last few Sox teams. Just not good fundamental baseball. Forget the fancy stuff just don't get TOOTBLANN'ed every other inning and throw the ball all over the diamond. And try and tag down 5 runs in the bottom of the 9th. I don't think that will ever change until many people in the organization are gone or the team sold and gutted out. They went through phases of drafting athletes instead of baseball players. They try to turn those athletes into 1st basemen or a DH. They never give up on guys who can't catch a baseball and try to make them play in positions where defense is exposed. The philosophy seems to be the same. I'm amazed at organizations like the Cardinals who can let a Puljols go and still win. Some people just get tired of seeing the same movie with different actors. Those are probably your season ticket holders.
  2. I'm not a fan of grabbing a guy from the NL to be a DH. They have the biggest adjustment.

QUOTE (SCCWS @ Apr 10, 2015 -> 08:50 AM) Are the White Sox a losing organization right now???? You can put it on the board YEEEEEEEEEEEEEESSS!
  4. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Apr 10, 2015 -> 06:43 PM) The Cubs have scored 3 runs in 3 games with the great Joe Maddon. They should fire him. The Cubs are always great at falling for over hyped experienced managers.
  5. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Apr 7, 2015 -> 12:54 PM) I like it. We got whooped but I want us to play with an edge all year. That is beyond their capabilities. They often appear lifeless and boring when July comes around.

Sometimes I think getting players from losing organizations come to play. I still don't get the Samardzija hype. I still think the minors it littered with poor fundamentals and they never seem to run out of mentally weak players. I can't back that up in anyway but it is a hunch.
  7. Good teams make their moves in August.
  8. The Royals still look like AL champs with that killer pen and the Sox.........they still look like the Sox.
  9. I can see people getting upset. It still looks like the Sox of 2014 playing games 163, 164.
  10. Check that wind. That might be why Gordon missed that ball.
  11. QUOTE (Baron @ Apr 8, 2015 -> 09:45 PM) See that's what a real catcher looks like. When do we get one of those? That's probably the hardest thing to get in MLB.
  12. QUOTE (chw42 @ Apr 8, 2015 -> 09:19 PM) Jesus Christ LaRoche. That's 2 at bats where he didn't even swing the bat. At least Adam Dunn swung at stuff. lol Sometimes that's the problem with having former NL players. It's a big adjustment at the plate in the AL.
  13. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Apr 7, 2015 -> 01:34 PM) But Vince Coleman... They clearly worked very hard on baserunning in spring training. It is just one game, if it lingers, then worry about it. I was hoping they would go 162-0, but I figured it was a bit of a longshot. This is something they need to address in the minors. It's a trademark of the organization.
  14. Most of these players went through the US public schools where everything is pussified. Everyone is suppose to win and we can't celebrate success.
  15. I take it this team looked like they had no Spring training. Some still can't run the bases.
  16. Glad I didn't prematurely buy the MLB online. I know it's one game but......

I predict Danks will have a successful season and that's why the Sox will win the division.
  18. A lot of new faces this year. The AL Central is going to be very competitive. A good closer, a hopefully better than last year pen should make the difference. I think how Danks performs will be the clincher. Think 2005 John Garland.
  19. Wasn't this guy the Sox wanted to get from Atlanta a few years back?
  20. Another milking of the illogical Sox/Cubs rivalry.
  21. Congrats to Jackson's agent. Hard to believe a $11M annual salary.
  22. QUOTE (Reddy @ Feb 8, 2015 -> 11:59 PM) Simply untrue. They help you hit the ball farther and recover faster, but they can't make you a better hitter. Steroids don't make you hit at the high average level that Piazza did for as long as he did. Stats prove you wrong.
  23. Another failed Kenny philosophy of defense can always be taught at the minor league level. Catching the ball still means something in the majors.
  24. Baseball can't come soon enough. I posted some time ago why I can't stand the NFL. Now the media will suck Brady's dick for another 5 years. It's great not to have cable and deal with ESPN's East coast bias.
