Abreu has been a complete defensive liability so far this year. -

QUOTE (Hawkfan @ Apr 28, 2015 -> 11:12 PM) It is too late now, but 8m a year sure seems cheap looking back at the crap we went through. AJ4L. If it wasn't for the recent awareness of personal attcks I'd tell all the sabermetrics fans to suck a dick. Yep, if not for all those warnings, I'd tell you to go f*** yourself. But I'm not saying that, because of the warnings. So this doesn't count as a personal attack.

The thing about AJ that everyone forgets is that his defense is terrible. By all the things we can count, we know he's among the absolute worst at pitch framing, pitch blocking, and throwing out runners. The only reason we "think" he's good at calling a game is because Hawk says it all the time and we don't actually know enough to argue otherwise.

QUOTE (lasttriptotulsa @ Apr 29, 2015 -> 07:25 AM) I think Flowers gets a little too much hate around here and AJ maybe a little bit too much love by certain posters. I'm not going to say that Flowers is as good as AJ was/is, but Flowers had a 1.6 fWAR last year. AJ's average in his 8 years with the Sox was also 1.6 and that's pretty heavily skewed by his 3.5 fWAR season in 2012 where he somehow hit 27 homers. His average fWAR in his other 7 seasons was 1.3. Yeah I think we all agreed that Flowers had a lucky and non-repeatable year to get that 1.6 fWAR. AJ's lucky and unrepeatable year was the 3.5 fWAR. This year, Flowers has managed -0.1 fWAR and, sadly, his BABIP is still inflated. I'm not advocating that we get AJ at all, but Flowers is terrible.

QUOTE (Tex @ Apr 28, 2015 -> 03:16 PM) They probably will for the TV cameras. I'm thinking this may be the highest viewed game of the year that doesn't feature the Yankmees of the Red Sox It's also the free game of the day on mlb.tv

QUOTE (Tex @ Apr 28, 2015 -> 10:36 AM) Just thinking about tickets. If you have tickets for Section 201 Row D Seats 15 and 16 and those seats do not exist in the other park, or are substantially different, where do people sit? Do you exchange tickets at the gate? How long would that process take? It seems like it would take more than a day for logistics. Parking, etc etc. Exchanging tickets would be a complete disaster. The box office just can't take that kind of volume. Unless no one showed up, I guess, which would be possible. They'd have to find a way to scan the existing tickets in, IMO. Which would be simple if both parks use the same ticketing vendor (i.e. TicketMaster/Archtics), but virtually impossible if they didn't, unless there would be some way to utilize existing hardware/infrastructure.

QUOTE (flavum @ Apr 28, 2015 -> 10:23 AM) They've had ample time since 5pm yesterday, in my opinion. Call up a company of 200-300 employees at 5PM and try to get them to come in the next day when they're scheduled to be off. Honestly, I'm sure the front office staff could work it with no issue, but the vast majority of the "Gameday" staff (concessions, ticket takers, ushers, guest relations, janitorial) are hourly, non-full time, and unionized in separate unions. Possible? Certainly, but a tall, tall order, indeed. And it would involve several frantic, desperate people making a bunch of phone calls all night. And, perhaps most importantly, the organization that would be required to pull the miracle off has no skin in the game at all (Nationals).

QUOTE (raBBit @ Apr 28, 2015 -> 10:22 AM) You guys are all a part of that WSI groupthink. Trading for a guy who's out for over a year, will have had two TJ surgeries and is owed almost 90 million IS the right move. Wait, Bailey is gonna be on his second? Yeah, sorry caulfield, I think there might be literally NO precedent for someone being a successful starter after two TJs. Some relievers, sure.
-
Dumping a problem for another problem is bound to be a wash. Danks for anything that would be worth Danks would be like that, whether for Bailey, Hamilton, etc.

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Apr 27, 2015 -> 09:33 PM) Quite the bomb dropping right after returning from paternity leave. He'll get over it by counting his millions.

For whoever was wondering if the riots are close enough to the ballpark to warrant the cancellation:
-
I'll be shocked if he lands anywhere other than Arizona, honestly.
-
If only this wasn't Phil Rogers...
-
John Danks pitched better yesterday than I've seen him pitch in like two years, and he STILL gave up two bombs.
-
I was sure as hell wrong about him. I really, really wanted the Sox to pick him up. Believed in bad reports about his defense being good.

QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 27, 2015 -> 03:11 PM) Can't wait for Delmon Young to look like the toughest out in history. One player that's been on fire for them is Paredes. Adam Jones is RAKING. He's basically been the best hitter in the league. -
QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Apr 25, 2015 -> 02:48 PM) No? They will start in the Top of the 9th with Robertson pitching Ok, that's what I thought, it just seemed like people were treating it differently. Thanks
