Sox signing Ervin Santana (pending physical) to milb deal per WSD
Sox now have $249,460,000 left to spend!

Will Yonder and Jay be gone by midseason?
Depends if anyone pushes them out of playing everyday. Alonso is going to get his AB’s. Sox better watch that vesting option though. They can spin it however they want, no one believes he was acquired as a baseball move, and personally I don’t want a constant reminder of Machado on the team.

I don't think anyone is going to argue you that Reinsdorf has no business making decisions for professional sports franchises. Things will change eventually, and it's not like we aren't the first group of fans to be disgruntled by their favorite team's owner(s). Other franchises have been run by morons, recovered, and still around to talk about it.

Fernando Tatis Jr. trade burns more than the loss in the Machado sweeps
I don't think we can stress enough how important this season is for Adolfo. The Sox are burning through options with him, and he really needs to show a solid showing at Birmingham this year. The 2020 season is the last year they have an option on him, so if he isn't ready to be called up by September of next season, they may have no choice but to move on. If he can pick up right where he left off, it would be a big win for the Sox developmental staff. He's really grown on me with the way he has started to break out. It would be awesome to see him and Eloy hold down the corners for the foreseeable future.

Grading Rick Hahn
Completely forgot about Anderson. He would be the lone bright spot the development staff could take credit for, but even then he is far from a perfect player (love the guy, but he has his warts at times). I don't know if I could count Rodon just because of how quickly he was pushed into the majors. If Eloy falters... ugh, I can't even finish typing that out - it can't and won't happen.

Renaming all 30 MLB teams, get ready for this...
Whoever designed those logos needs to practice a little bit. Most of those look like they were created in a few minutes. Yuck...

Grading Rick Hahn
Gave him an F. Probably deserves a D, but I'm pretty pissed about this week. I still can't get past the Alonso and Jay deals. It just blows my mind they were brought in and the entire thing blew up in their faces. Drafts and international signings need to improve big time. Parkman hit it on the head, all the core pieces came from outside the organization. This is a very important season for the rebuild. Need some future stars to start emerging instead of complementary players.

Machado signs with Padres 10/300
Wish someone would smash a drone right into that face of his. Wait til he sees Eloy's numbers off him.

It certainly seems that way, but we've all thought that in the past and somehow it always works out for him. If the Sox (and a colossal IF at that) wanted to try for Harper, now is the time to sneak in and try to hammer something out. Can't see it happening though. The FO has given up.

If White Sox are sold
I’m sure there will be some rumblings, but overall I think MLB wants to add teams, not move them. And no matter how you hard you try, Oakland, Tampa, and Miami are in much worse shape than the Sox IMO. The market is there, it’s Chicago for fucks sake. It just has never been tapped into because of how the team is operated. There will be an owner that sees that and things will change.

Not a bad idea. Honestly, just send the link to the Machado thread. 20k+ posts, and almost 1M views saysall you need to say. Easily go go a step further with a well articulated letter from all of us how we are all cutting out games this season. If Jerry can pay up, neither can we. Enjoy an even emptier ballpark.

Now that I've had a chance to think about things...
Like a few have already stated, it’s not necessarily the result itself, it’s the manner in which it happened. People are far more pissed at the FO than losing out on Machado.

They did a good job deceiving us these past few years. Fucking ponzi scheme to fatten up JR’s bank account.

I really want him off the team. His comments today were infuriating for me. Not his fault he was hung out to dry by the FO, but he provides absolutely zero benefit to being here right now.

I’m a Madrigal supporter, but this kid really needs to hit his potential if he is going to have any sort of value at the MLB level. If he fails to develop even doubles power, he won’t be much use to the Sox. He doesn’t draw walks, so all his value is literally tied to his batting average. The concerns about him from prospect evaluators are very reasonable. I tend to put more weight into his wrist issues last year than most, so I’m willing to believe we get the player closer to what we are expecting.

I don’t. They are pretty clueless. I’ve seen some posting about the ticket office receiving a lot of complaints, butIm sure they will just chalk that up to overreacting. Maybe they’ll come to realize something might be going wrong when Alonso and Jay are berated by fans at every home game, when their attendance drops again, and the closest they get to filling the stands is Eloy’s debut. God help that kid if he struggles. We’ll end up with 1-2 B-level free agents next offseason. They’ll spin it as “we allowcated money into 2 players that help us be a competitive ball club.” This is the White Flag trade all over again IMO. Whoever owns this team after Jerry is gonna have their work cut out for them, but at least expectations will be very low if non-existent.

Maybe. You forget Jay makes $4M and therefore must play over Palka.
