Non White Sox Trade Rumors
QUOTE (WhiteSoxLifer @ Jul 26, 2016 -> 03:09 PM) #Padres making progress on trade involving Andrew Cashner, sources say. He may be dealt before start tonight in Toronto. https://twitter.com/jonmorosi/status/758030626922659840 Will be interesting to see who gives up what for him. Hopefully not a team in the Sale/Q sweepstakes.

Chris Sale scratched from start
The more I think about this, the more I have to wonder... What the hell is Sale going to do when the Sox blow it up at the deadline and he isn't moved? Is he going to burn down U.S. Cellular because he won't be able to win on an even s***tier club?

Crosstown Cup Game Thread, Game 1
QUOTE (Deadpool @ Jul 25, 2016 -> 10:34 PM) Robin to sit Saladino tomorrow. You can take that to the bank. Haha, you know it. Stupid is as stupid does.

Crosstown Cup Game Thread, Game 1
QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 25, 2016 -> 10:09 PM) Albers doesn't belong in the big leagues. Our only hope is they only get one run and we push across a run like we did twice late vs. Detroit. What chokers we root for. He needs to be DFA'd. It's long overdue. Hell, give Goldberg a shot. He'd at the very least match what Albers is currently capable of.

Marlins scouting Mig Gonzalez
Good, get something for him.

Dodgers kicking Tires on Q
QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Jul 24, 2016 -> 08:08 PM) What about adding Robertson with Q though? That should max out the deal even more. I'm not so sure. I know there's been talk of a mega deal with the Red Sox, but you would think adding in Robertson's contract would hurt Q's value if they were paired together. Part of what makes Q so valuable is not just his skill set but his team-friendly deal.

White Sox Listening on Sale
QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Jul 22, 2016 -> 06:56 PM) That's the type of return they need to get. That's why he's not going anywhere. I agree. I am very much against moving him unless a player such as Correra comes back in return. That contract is insanely valuable and should drive the asking price up IMO.

White Sox Listening on Sale
QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Jul 22, 2016 -> 06:51 PM) @aycockonxion According to a source, the White Sox have told the Astros that Sale is only available if they include Correa. LOL yup I would be very surprised if he goes anywhere.

7/21/16 Tigers @ Sox
Ah crap, I actually like Lawrie. Really hope out of everyone on the team he's one they'd hang onto.
-
White sox may be reconsidering their stance of being non sellers
QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 21, 2016 -> 05:15 PM) Really think Sale will stay and Q goes. Same here. Sox keep Sale and Rodon with Fulmer as the future rotation guy. Q can easily net you a very good haul of 2-3 prospects. The rest of the league knows he's good even if the general public do not. Frazier, Cabrera, and Robertson should be moved as well if the deals are there. I would try to keep Eaton and Lawrie unless absolutely blown away. As mediocre as Lawrie can be, he's been the most productive 2B in a Sox uniform since Iguchi.

What to do at the Trade Deadline
Might be a fit there... Guess it depends on how desperate they are and if the Sox are at least smart enough to listen.

7/20 Games
Is Jacob May hurt again or has he really been regulated to Charlotte's 4th/5th OF'er? Find it odd that he would get benched for 5 consecutive games instead of one of the other fillers they have on the team.

Sox trade Scott Carroll to Rangers for Cash considerations
Always found Carroll to be a feel good story and fun clubhouse character. Too bad he's a AAAA player.
-
David Robertson is a fantastic closer
Even after last night, I still think Robertson is in the upper echelon of closers. Is he overpaid? Absolutely. But it was a necessity the Sox needed at the time and it still is. If you remove last night's game and the game against KC he has elite numbers on the year. Closers make mistakes that can easily be amplified when the rest of the team is struggling.

What to do at the Trade Deadline
QUOTE (Hatchetman @ Jul 18, 2016 -> 11:30 AM) voted sell but limited sell. 2017 is their last chip at the craps table. I agree with this. Sell a few pieces but don't go crazy. I'd start by firing Robin. Then trade guys like Robertson and Fraizer - granted losing both will kill the team but you technically could replace both of them with in house options (though it would most definitely be risky moves to gamble on them). Those guys won't bring in a lot but they do have some value to some contending teams. Personally, I think Fraizer would be a nice piece for the Mets at 3B, and there are always teams looking for a solid closer. Hell, call the Cubs and say we have a much CHEAPER option for you than Chapman/Miller.
-
Adam Engel - just promoted to AAA, and we interviewed him
Good read. Talk about OF overload in Charlotte. I don't think I've ever seen that many active outfielders on any professional roster before. Anyone get the feeling that his comments about trying new things from different people was aimed at Stevenson? Honestly wouldn't be surprised given how bad and slump-prone the Sox hitting has been since he's been here.
-
Robin Ventura should definitely, certainly be fired today
QUOTE (GreatScott82 @ Jul 17, 2016 -> 04:09 PM) He will have a job the rest of this season also. In fact, they will keep him around and continue to add and not subtract to this roster. Apparently being 4+ games out of a wildcard spot and getting their butts kicked by two of the worst teams in baseball isn't enough for them to waive the white flag. I'm convinced Rick Hahn and KW are delusional. Keep retooling this roster, dudes-- it will solve all of the problems! For all we know Hahn wants to sell and JR won't let him. The organization is a mess regardless of whose most incompetent.

7/17 Game Thread: @ Anaheim, 2:35pm, WGN
QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 17, 2016 -> 04:17 PM) Fun seeing AAA pitching face MLB hitting isn't it? So glad I did not waste my time watching this game. Makes little to no sense why they call up Fulmer to have him sit on the bench and trot this a****** to the mound. Fulmer could have at least gotten his feet wet in the starting role.

Carson Fulmer Getting Called Up?
QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Jul 15, 2016 -> 04:48 PM) Source? We'd have to send someone down to make that happen. Correction, they'll need to DFA someone. The 40 is full and Turner is not on it.
-
Rodon's Replacement in Rotation
QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Jul 14, 2016 -> 05:11 PM) Why would they bring up Turner just to DFA when Rodon is back? Talk about bullpen depth but they just recalled Kahnle before the brak for the umpteenthtime. Maybe another FA or trade move is getting ready to be made? Like others have said, he's getting paid $1.5M this year and has not done very well in Charlotte. He would most likely slip through waivers.
-
Morneau to come up after break
I just have this terrible feeling the Sox are going to call Morneau the "Trade-Deadline Acquisition" and he's going to blow.

AND THAT'S A WHITE SOX WINNER!!!
QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Jun 26, 2016 -> 04:50 PM) I found this interesting just because of how much has been made of his different approach this season: Christopher Kamka @ckamka Chris Sale through 16 starts 2015: 2.80 ERA, 112.1 IP, 84 H, 22 BB, 147 K 2016: 2.79 ERA, 113.0 IP, 88 H, 23 BB, 109 K #WhiteSox I would much rather have last year's Sale back. I don't see the new approach as really contributing to anything other than maybe keeping his arm healthy? A 1.1 IP difference seems pointless IMO.

Chicago White Sox vs Toronto Blue Jays 6/25/16
QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ Jun 25, 2016 -> 05:10 PM) are you f***ing kidding me? Man the f*** up. It's all hands on deck the rest of the year. This team just really pisses me off. Not sure if RV is covering his own ass but how about challenging your men to step up when guys are hurt in a big mid-summer game? I honestly question if these guys would p**** foot around like this if RV wasn't such a pushover. Couldn't agree more. I find it hard to believe Robertson wouldn't have been on the mound if the Sox were up 8-7 in the 9th.

June 21st Game Thread: White Sox @ Red Sox 6:10 CT
QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Jun 21, 2016 -> 04:21 PM) Once in a while, DH Abreu, 1B Frazier, 3B Saladino That leaves you without a viable infielder on the bench. If the Sox would stop carrying 5 OF's I'd agree that would be a logical thing to pull.

Putnam to DL; Chris Beck recalled
QUOTE (captain54 @ Jun 21, 2016 -> 01:14 PM) Danks must have really been finished with that release and the Sox to eat that salary…. If he had anything left in the tank he could at least have been used to soak up innings... I don't think the Sox quite expected to end up where things are now. Danks was the only blemish in the pitching staff at the time of his release. Beck should be interesting. His K/9 is up coming out of the pen. At least he's a former starter and should be able to go a few innings on Thursday...
