Passan: Astros sign Imai
It's still early in the day. We very likely will hear something in one direction or another from US media personalities. Same thing happened with Murakami - it went Japanese source first before Merk/Feinsand picked it up.

OD 26 Man Roster Projection
Yep, and Davitt getting protected clearly shows they see value in him. Mead got a lot of playing time down the stretch. I'd imagine they've seen enough there to make a determination on him.

Chicago White Sox's Offseason FA Signings Trades Megathread
This is true, but you're forgetting Rendon wants to do literally anything else outside of playing baseball. Benny still clearly wants to be on the field.

OD 26 Man Roster Projection
Pereira, Mead, Lee, and Hill are all out of options. If Sosa and Robert stick around, one of those 4 is going to get cut. I'd imagine Pereira is the safest bet to stick around considering they gave up MLB assists to get him. Really makes carrying 3 catchers pointless, but like everyone knows, Tell and Q really need to be playing as much as possible. Makes a lot of sense they'd be open to moving one because it really does limit the roster construction. I would think Mead is the odd man out with the current roster as it stands.

Passan: Astros sign Imai
I'd love this to happen as much as anyone, but when I first saw this I just immediately figured it was Boras doing his thing to get final bids.

Munemania: Murakami and Judge pacing each other
I can't see Jerry allowing any more big ticket signings with Robert still on the payroll. Okamoto doesn't really fit here anyways unless the Sox are seriously considering Murakami at 3B. I'd love if Ishbia stepped in and aggressively went after Imai. He is arguable the best of the 4 coming over from Japan this offseason and would give the Sox a legitimate ace starter.

Benintendi destinations?
Anyone but Tauchman - he can't play in the field either. Watching him in the field or just run in general in September was like watching one of those commercials of dogs locked in cages with no food.

Chicago White Sox's Offseason FA Signings Trades Megathread
Unless they are crazy enough to let him try out the OF? I thought I remember reading Moncada told teams he was willing to play the OF. Still seems crazy to me, because they very clearly cut ties with him at the end of 2024.

Are teams really gonna let him play 3B? I've yet to see a report from anyone who's actually watched Okamoto say he can stick at 3B regularly.

Can the this team be competitive in 2026?
The bullpen is not good. As of right now, there will be 2 arms that haven't pitched above A-ball.

Can the this team be competitive in 2026?
Honestly depends on how many of the kids take another step in their sophomore year. Hopefully we don't see too many struggles or take a step back. Sox got lucky where pretty much everyone that debuted played pretty well. I feel like that's incredibly rare. They'd need Braden to hit the ground running too to help solidify an OF spot and Schultz would need to prove he's healthy and ready to be a big league pitcher. I still think this team is 90+ losses at the moment, but they should be at least 'fun bad' team as opposed to just bad and not worth watching.

2026 Lineup Discussion
I would trade him. Getting Quero AB's is more important.

2026 Lineup Discussion
If the season started tomorrow, I would roll with this: 2B - Meidroth (R) C - Teel (L) SS - Montgomery (L) CF - Robert (R) 1B - Murakami (L) 3B - Vargas (R) LF - Benintendi (L) DH - Quero (S) RF - Baldwin (S)

Munemania: Murakami and Judge pacing each other
There's this post as well: The original report about him being terrible against velocity was incorrect.

Robert Thread: Sox talking to Reds, Mets
It's technically like a late 1st round talent. So there is real value there and it affects your bonus pool, which arguably is even a better value that the pick itself. There were rumors last year the Sox tried getting the Reds comp pick for Robert. I honestly don't know if Robert has that much value remaining unless the Sox absorb so salary in the deal.

Munemania: Murakami and Judge pacing each other
I think Robert is as good as gone, and Sosa wouldn't surprise me either.

Robert Thread: Sox talking to Reds, Mets
Disagree. Pointless to keep a guy who won't stay healthy and has a s%*# work ethic on this team. Cut ties and let him be someone else's problem even if that means Hill in CF. Re-allocate his salary into something more useful.

Munemania: Murakami and Judge pacing each other
This certainly is fun. I do wish they took more of a gamble and went with a little longer deal, because it's going to be hard to retain him if he ends up as good as some people think. Should be fun to watch him regardless. Nice to see the Sox break the mold and beat the rest of the league.

Munemania: Murakami and Judge pacing each other
Would make sense. Especially with the deadline being in a US timezone.

Season Ticket / Sox Fest Tickets Question
I have a 20 game plan, and they sent out a link a while ago to reserve free tickets for the Friday night of the event. If you're signing up now, I'd speak to a rep and see if you can even still get them.

White Sox acquire OF Tristan Peters from TB for PTBNL/$
Well, either your starting RF or the perfect platoon partner to pair with Hill if/when Robert gets traded.

Chicago White Sox's Offseason FA Signings Trades Megathread
No - Murakami always carried a good BB% in the NPB. Elko would swing at a ball rolled to home plate. But I'd agree with you, the Sox aren't going to be players for him.
