  1. Hard to argue against this move. Hopefully this keeps Benny out of the OF as much as possible.
  2. I’d think Hicks would be more of a swingman than have a defined role. They seem to be headed in that direction already with Newcomb, and Taylor has even been described as being in a multi-inning role this season.
  3. If BOS eats a majority of the contract, you won't get much back. That's probably where the real value in trading for him comes from - if Getz and Banny like/want him, and they are willing to absorb the majority of that deal + netting something valuable for the long-term future, then I can see why it's interesting.
  4. It’s going to be Hicks. He has a the Bannister connection through SF. They obviously must see him as a buy low candidate, and I almost wonder if you could get the Red Sox to part with a prospect for taking him off their hands. I’m sure they’d like out of that deal, and his AVV matches up with the savings the Sox have left.
  5. They typically release the promo schedule the 1st night of Soxfest. You'll have it very soon.
  6. Letting a profession sports team as popular as the Bears leave your state would be a colossal failure.
  7. At least it isn't a giant red, down-pointing arrow.
  8. He's still only 23, considering his pedigree alone, zero reason to write the kid off.
  9. TV deals and equal revenue sharing would be the most obvious and logical start. The Dodgers spend the way they do simply because of the lucrative tv deal they have and the revenue they generate from it. A salary cap is a non-starter with the MLBPA, so they need to look for alternate ways to eliminate the disparity between the big and small market teams. Moving to a collectively shared tv rights package like the NFL pretty much eliminates the entire advantage the Dodgers have and would solve a lot of the disparity we see between big and small market clubs. Teams shouldn't be allowed to negotiate their own tv deals, it should be a league-wide effort so all 30 teams receive an equal share before any additional tickets sales, marketing deals, concession sales, etc. It levels the playing floor almost immediately, and you'd still be able to operate without a hard CAP to keep the players happy.
  10. Surgery was in March 2025, so I would think he's been throwing for a little bit by now.
  11. There's really no reason to bring back a broken down Tauchman in any capacity. He was terrible in the field last year and his legs are shot. He also saw a huge drop-off at the plate the final 2 months of the season (.220 BA). At 35 yrs old, it isn't going to get any better for him. Bringing him back to just DFA him a month or two later doesn't make sense, especially when so many guys currently on the 40-man are way younger and out of options.
  12. I think Monty eventually ends up in LF. He already has had some back problems early on, and Roch and Bonemer can easily fill in on the left side of the infield if everything goes according to plan.
  13. They'll figure something out, like the Angels did with Rendon.
  14. I wouldn't DFA Iriarte just yet. Still very young at 24, and has an option left. Last year was his first year out the pen - I'd give him a little longer leash and see if they can't reign his control back in. I wonder if the Sox are trying to move someone in a trade to free up a spot.
  15. He was hurt with a hip impingement, had a setback after he got hit with a line drive, and I think he just struggled to get his consistency back.
  16. Really like this move for the Sox. They need veteran leadership in the backend of the pen. They lost far too many games last year because of it. Dominguez is a nice addition, and could be worth a lot come the deadline if they decide to move him. Also, for anyone keeping track... projected fWAR for 2026: Robert - 1.8 Acuna - 1.3 Dominguez - 0.6 And the Sox still have ~$10M left if they want to add another SP or OF.
  17. Well, this seems to have slipped by every's radar.
  18. Seems like a fake account. Only following 17 people, and has 29 followers.
  19. Sox sure love loading up on LHP. Perez was pretty decent for a stretch before having an abysmal 2025.
  20. Charlotte needs a 1B, so this is fine.
  21. I don't think he is guaranteed to though. I don't even think Burke is guaranteed a spot in the rotation. Adding in another legit SP option would be wise IMO - let the rest of the lot battle for a spot to stay relevant. I'd argue we are looking at Smith, Martin, and Kay as the only locks in the rotation right now.
  22. Well, I'm not sure where he got the info from, but the MJ interest is legit. Courtney isn't one to make something up.
  23. Because Getz overplayed his hand and was asking for too much initially. They've been trying to move him for 2 offseason now. Perhaps he anticipated being able to pick up some salary to increase the return package. Mune's signing certainly threw a wrench into the Sox offseason/payroll expectations. We also don't know for sure what the Mets offer was early in the offseason. With Belly finally back with the Yankees, it seems to me the Mets needed to act immediately to secure an OF. This Sox team was never going to be all that great with or without Robert. He was ultimately a sunk cost that wasn't going to be around for the next time the Sox would be good again. Hopefully Getz can use that money to add a few other pieces and they are able to develop some of these former top prospects into something useful.
