They'd have an increased likelihood they'd get traded to a contender. But Giolito is not coming anywhere near the Sox. Jerry is never going to bring back the team's former MLBPA representative, and one who they squabbled with over Arbitration.

I'd take a flyer on Seymour - they can always cut him if they need the 40-man spot. Although, he may not be much more than a LH version of Elko...

Nashville and Canada come up in Manfred interview
CWSpalehoseCWS replied to caulfield12's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Nashville makes too much sense for an expansion team. Especially the location - it would really allow for the league to realign divisions like we've seen suggested the past few years. I'd love to see the Expos return, but I'd think we see another team elsewhere before that happens. -
April 2nd.

I believe he could theoretically stay "hurt" all year, but then he has all the requirements of a R5 again for the following 2027 season. No team is going to do that unless the guy is Skenes level. Plus, is there even going to be a 2027 season? So 2028... I joke, but...
-
But he has to stay on the active roster for the team that claims him for 90 days. So you're looking at a team rehabbing him in ST, then somehow working him back immediately into a MLB bullpen to hit the minimum days required. I just can't see it being a possibility with the amount of arms out there that are more likely to be selected and healthier.

Adams coming off TJ surgery, I'd think he'd be a safe bet to leave off. Would another team really risk carrying a guy that isn't even necessarily going to be ready to start the year?
-
Has to be a minor league position, right?

Non-tender Wilson and Hill. I'd tender Tauchman, even though I do think the guy is starting to breakdown. He seemed to have a positive influence on the team though, so I'd bring him back. Wilson was already DFA'd by the Sox and they are going to need the space to protect some arms from the R5.

MLBTR projected arbitration salaries are out. #18 made us gasp!!
CWSpalehoseCWS replied to WestEddy's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I certainly don't. He looked really brutal towards the end of this year. -
Shane Smith has taken over as story of spring
CWSpalehoseCWS replied to caulfield12's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Adams is coming off TJ, I highly doubt that kid will be ready. -
Yep. Unfortunately, I don't see how his value is anything more than what it was this past July. Might even be lower. Teams would have to be run by an incompetent moron to trade for a guy who is guaranteed to sit on the shelf 25-50% of the season year in and year out.

Luis Robert trade thread: La Pantera stays.
CWSpalehoseCWS replied to ChiSoxFanMike's topic in Pale Hose Talk
That likely is what Robert's value is... People need to take a big step back if they think 2023 Robert is coming back (he isn't). -
C'mon, Getz is a mediocre to bad GM. Yes, he made a lot of internal changes to improve how the Sox operate, but so would ANY GM that came into the Sox FO once they saw how poorly it was being run. Getz continues to prove he folds around the deadline and can't play with the big boy GM's of the league. They call his bluff.

Getz once again master-classed by the league, again. He's really, really bad at this deadline stuff. -
Luis Robert trade thread: La Pantera stays.
CWSpalehoseCWS replied to ChiSoxFanMike's topic in Pale Hose Talk
No, because Robert is FAR more likely to be bad than good or hurt himself next season. His track record is terrible. Get what you can and move on, they already gambled this year he would bounce back he fell flat on his face. -
Yankees acquire Austin Slater for RHP Gage Ziehl
CWSpalehoseCWS replied to Sleepy Harold's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I'm pleasantly surprised the Sox got a ranked guy for Slater. Solid move that payed off for Getz. -
Luis Robert trade thread: La Pantera stays.
CWSpalehoseCWS replied to ChiSoxFanMike's topic in Pale Hose Talk
If the value of Robert is Veintos or 2 18 yr old projects in the DSL, I'll take Vientos. I'd rather gamble on a guy who has proved he can hit bombs at the MLB level, buy him on the cheap, and try to get him right again, than depend on the Sox developing dice rolls to be valuable for the team 4 years from now. -
I don't see anything wrong with that. I have a 20 game plan that I go to the vast majority of games with my 76 yr old father. I'm not gonna let my hatred for Jerry take away from spending quality time with my Dad.
