  1. It makes sense only because it's Jerry. Dave Stewart connection to TLR who whispers lovely little unicorn and sugarplum thoughts into Jerry's ears. Jerry is massively internalized and only surrounds himself by YES men. Who knows how much is left up in that 88 year old brain to even make a smart business decision anymore? Tony tells Jerry this is good for baseball, and the "biggest fan out there" Jerry believes him. You've already got the perfect storm brewing: (1) A all-time worst performance this season continues to damage attendance, season ticket holders, and revenue in a huge market dominated by the team up North. (2) They're dropping payroll for the second straight year, which easily could make the team enticing for a new ownership group to want in. (3) The state is not going to budge one inch on any sort of taxpayer funding for a new stadium, and the lease is expiring relatively soon. The classic "spin" that Oakland used to convince MLB about the issues holding back their competitiveness exists with this organization, self-inflicted or not.
  2. There is ZERO chance an expansion team is coming here. Either the Sox stay, or you're looking at the team moving with expansion going elsewhere. The belief MLB is simply going to be ok moving the Sox and then miraculously approving a new team in Chicago is straight up laughable.
  3. Asked my Dodgers friend what he thought of McCullough, and he said players love him. He's vert analytical, but also has an old school approach. He was under the impression he was going to be hired by the Guardians when they were looking for a manager.
  4. I honestly hope they win tonight. I'll be at tomorrow's game and I'd like to see the record in person.
  5. Yeah, I'd pretty much agree. It's the current ownership group who is on life support. Remove it from the equation and people will come back. Minimal effort from a new owner would be leaps and bounds better than what is currently taking place.
  6. There are people out there that live their entire lives engulfed in deliberate ignorance or information avoidance. Jerry is selfish enough to fall into this category.
  7. Realistically, he'll probably get a cup of coffee as backup MI at some point just based on draft status. What an atrocious pick, but I can't really say I'm all that surprised with their decisions anymore.
  8. No you don't. He's gonna get $5M to go away in the offseason. There is zero chance that insane $25M option is picked up, and if it is, Getz is more of a moron than anyone could have imagined.
  9. Am I wrong, or is this similar to the "Vulcan" change Ian Kennedy used to throw? Not in how you hold it, but in the end result?
  10. Why not? Just because they are out of it doesn't mean they should stop trying to find some possible options for next season. DLS was quite effective in 2022-23.
  11. I agree. I'm rooting for them to break it. f*** it, at least it's something to strive for at this point, and the more it tarnishes JR's legacy.
  12. This is awesome. 5 away for cementing Jerry's legacy.
  13. Eloy is in fact... lazy. Doesn't matter if they rushed him back or not, he never puts in the damn work to stay on the field.
  14. I'm more along the lines of only Fedde, Kopeck and Pham being moved at this point with Fedde bringing back mostly pitching. Look at what the Rays are doing right now. They are running circles around the Sox organization when it comes to maximizing returns. Maybe I'll eat my words, but this feels all too familiar like past deadlines where the Sox come up with excuses that the market wasn't there for them.
  15. This. They will figure out a way to unlock Morel's potential. On the surface it looks like a decent win-win type move, but Paredes savant is really quite something else.
  16. Getz running to the Braves because he doesn't have a clue as to what he is doing. The Braves farm is devoid of position players...
  17. Especially when that game could be the one that puts you at 51 or 53 game. Pedro is such a fucking loser.
  18. Platoon option for Marsh is my guess. Phillies have an open 40-man spot now too.
  19. Starting to get the impression Getz is gonna look real bad following this deadline. Mods, feel free to merge or delete my dup thread.
  20. No, but the returns for Harvey and Puk at least prove the asking price for relievers is high. Sox should get something good back for him.
  21. Philly is such a better fit than the Dodgers farm IMO. I've seen conflicting reports on Miller sticking at SS. Pretty sure BA has him moving to 3B.
  22. Agreed. I'd be very happy with that. Keep amassing talent and figure out the rest later. This team is years away from being competitive.
