  1. I still think Lee is an odd-man out, even with Romo being DFA'd. If you plan on keeping Mead, I especially don't see how Lee makes it.
  2. It's a lot more than his arm. His jumps are below average as well. I'm sure much of that can very well be attributed to his nagging injuries the past few years, but he's essentially useless in the field at this point in his career. We're honestly lucky he's been able to hit 20 HR's the last two years, or I'm not entirely sure he'd have any value on either side of the ball.
  3. I went back in 2010 - did a spur of the moment cross-country drive with my dad for 48 hrs and it was a lot of fun. We caught a night game and day game and spent some time on the backfields before the night game. I am a memorabilia guy, so I did get some autographs from various players. The best part about the backfields was Mark Buehrle randomly showed up in a golf cart and I got to talk to him for a solid 5-10 minutes. He was super nice and signed a bunch of baseballs for me. That was a long time ago, so I'm sure things have changed since then, but I would go again if I had the opportunity.
  4. Really feels like someone jumped the gun on the announcement too.
  5. Certainly could, I'm just not sure they have the money anymore. The Robert money is essentially all spend at this point.
  6. I find this hard to believe. Feels like the big moves are all done at this point in the offseason.
  7. Ramos is out of options, and he certainly isn't playing over Vargas at this point. Even though he had a very small and inconsistent sample in the MLB, his stats at Charlotte are not at all impressive - and that's one of the most hitter friendly parks in the league. He can't hit RHP. Hill gets a ton of crap for being on the roster, but he does have value in the glove and on the bases. Ramos provides no value on either side of the ball.
  8. No way he sticks on their active roster, they will try to sneak him through too.
  9. I have a real hard time seeing him somehow stick in the rotation. I can see them hiding him in the pen. You don't see many arms go from A-ball to the MLB and have immediate success.
  10. If Sandlin's medicals are in question, perhaps the PTBNL is dependent on his ability to stay healthy? I'm not sure if that is something that can be agreed to, but it could provide some context. Maybe the Sox have 2 options based on the outcome for Sandlin this season.
  11. I know he's older, but I'm surprised Suarez has as little of a market as he did.
  12. I know this isn't directed at me, but PTBNL usually aren't anything significant. The Sox have a list of possible guys they are allowed to choose from the Red Sox. Likely low minors lottery tickets. Trea Turner is the last big PTBNL to be traded, but MLB changed the rules following that deal, and we're well beyond the new deadline for drafted players to be traded.
  13. Really creative trade by Getz. I'm a big fan of Sandlin. He could be a big league contributor out of the pen this season if they wanted to go that route. They essentially turned 1/2 season of Slater into a top 10 arm in the system.
  14. They were including a top prospect arm in addition. You don't get both cash and prospect capital. Sox likely would have taken on the majority of the contract.
  15. Hard to argue against this move. Hopefully this keeps Benny out of the OF as much as possible.
  16. I’d think Hicks would be more of a swingman than have a defined role. They seem to be headed in that direction already with Newcomb, and Taylor has even been described as being in a multi-inning role this season.
  17. You are correct, I thought the Giants signed him in '23.
  18. If BOS eats a majority of the contract, you won't get much back. That's probably where the real value in trading for him comes from - if Getz and Banny like/want him, and they are willing to absorb the majority of that deal + netting something valuable for the long-term future, then I can see why it's interesting.
  19. It’s going to be Hicks. He has a the Bannister connection through SF. They obviously must see him as a buy low candidate, and I almost wonder if you could get the Red Sox to part with a prospect for taking him off their hands. I’m sure they’d like out of that deal, and his AVV matches up with the savings the Sox have left.
  20. Didn’t see this posted anywhere:
  21. They typically release the promo schedule the 1st night of Soxfest. You'll have it very soon.
  22. Letting a profession sports team as popular as the Bears leave your state would be a colossal failure.
  23. At least it isn't a giant red, down-pointing arrow.
  24. He's still only 23, considering his pedigree alone, zero reason to write the kid off.
